Double standards, that's what it is.
Who said there weren't petitions about SW continuity before this '2000' one?

Recently, however, there has been serious concern that this unified tapestry is under threat due to a seemingly relaxed attitude to continuity—particularly as it relates to the much welcomed Clone Wars animated TV series.

Nathan Fillion:
“Yes. Yes. I would examine very closely Fox’s reasoning — I’m a little gun-shy. If I got $300 million from the California Lottery, the first thing I would do is buy the rights to Firefly, make it on my own, and distribute it on the Internet.”
The Plan was well received by most of the Fans and the pledge numbers continued to rise. Then late March 7th, over 100,000 hearts sank with one tweet. Through Joss Whedon’s sister in-law, the Whedon team expressed that they did not support HNBF (later clarified to express uninvolvement).
Firefly/Serenity have a certain fanbase which is very active in the blog community. The Serenity movie provides a logical conclusion to one of the major situations of the Firefly show. (which is being reaired on the Science Channel currently) Whedon in general is a thing io9 bloggers really dig. Plus io9 has a lean towards harder sci-fi which partly explains why a fantasy leaning movie can be on equal voting with a show which pays tribute to many of the Star Wars movies attributes. The debate that Malcolm Reynolds is more or less Han Solo and Firefly = a Han Solo tv show also shows that when they vote for Serenity they are voting for much of what appeals about the OT, but because of the Lucas factor, the vote pushes over to Whedon's show.

TAF wrote: Anyway, do these have any of the censoring in European versions (i.e. no headbutts)?
That's a good point to identify these versions. the 'Cinema' and 'Centropy' have the headbutt. And since they have cue marks they are not from a digital screening.
My experience with SONY DL is that they work fine. A bunch came with the drive so they were the first I used and for couple years they all were fine. Then one day they stopped being recognized when burning. Switched to Memorex for a time, then they failed. Tried a couple other brands as well. Turns out it was not a disc issue it was the drive getting dusty. Once blown out everything worked as usual. Have mailed and handed out over 100 DL discs and haven't gotten back any 'it doesn't play anywhere' comments. But these experiences are relatively meaningless since i'm only certain of 10% of people who didn't have a problem, the other 90% never heard back from!

'Cinema' - Which looks similar to the 'Gold' the cue mark is in the same orientation. The colors differ, but most likely they corrected for the DVD. But 'Cinema's lower frame shows the most of any of these 5.
'ctp' (Centropy) - From one frame inspection is very close to 'CD-Master'.

Question : Was digital project fairly common place by RotS? Even in other countries like Russia? Am trying to find the cue markers in the Cyrillic crawl version of the RotSs and they're not at the usual 20 minute location. So wondering if this is a digital projection capture, and I would be wasting my time then.

One of the policies of this forum is that for you should own the source from where the preservation came from. So this V3 came from the 2006 GOUT, so you should own that disc. Maybe when you said 'in years' that's what you meant.
More general policies here:

Looks like every Star Wars disc I already own is about to become a coaster. And those LaserDiscs will make AWESOME coasters!
They also make good frisbies. Or you can self-grove them and convert them into a vinyl record.
All the unnecessary drama and retardednesses aside. The automation of this process is what's key.
The one frame example above uses 32,000 frames from TPM. 4 of the 24 frames from every second. Would love to attempt this using all the frames but that's going to dramatically increases the processing time.
The other automation issue is right now it's a one frame creation at a time. Figuring out either a different Mosaic application (using MacOSaiX currently) or how to control the OS to start up each consequtive frame is something i'd need to learn how to do.
The other unfigured out is the sound. Have a program called Comparisonics which can take one wav and use it to recreate a second wav file. But the application is for Mac OS9 and I was never able to figure it out, 10 years ago. Need to contact the author to see if there is a new version (preferably GUI).
then if that works itself out, where could this thing be displayed...
So might just for shits'n'giggles. take that one frame. recreate it in Adobe After Effects then let the video play unaffected before and after for 1 minute, just to see what it looks like. So you'd see this random image which would then for a fraction of a moment, making something recognizable, then go back to random.
Then there's the creative debate of what's more appropriate using the full OT to recreate the PT or vice-versa or is there some other appropriate more pseudo-4D like?
This is just one of those random projects I have sitting on the HD, which I start and realize i'm way in over my head...

cheeky basterd. Thanks for the memories. Do you remember much about the IRC trolling? Was it SW based fans doing the distribution or the hardcore movie traders, guessing the later. Remember seeing AotC on an irc channel found off of the vcdquality irc, my first dip into that arena. But wouldn't be surprised if some of the more well known SW websites had copies of TPM for their moderators and crew. How bad was the podrace splice?
Have begun processing the PT stuff i've collected and what people have donated to this threads goal. What's interesting about TPM prints is after the reel change the two versions i've seen are marked with pencil squiggles for a frame. This will be one way to differentiate these sources, beyond the general cropping.

Die Gerüchte verdichten sich...
Anscheinend gibt es bereits zwei komplette Bootleg Versionen des Filmes im Internet.
http://www.subway.de/magazin/1999/08star.shtml

Many impatient German fans have "The Phantom Menace" anyway already seen: while some actually flew the first night in America and England, others have the movie already in your own four walls, enjoyed - as a pirate copy. No sooner was the film that is launched in the U.S. because there were the first bootlegs. The quality of illegal copies ranges from brutally poor (filmed with wobbly Handicam Rammel in full cinema) and brilliant (with professional technology sampled). In addition to street vendors, the hot commodity in the China-Towns ticked the cities, especially the Internet makes the legal department of Lucasfilm to create. Just the medium that is significantly involved in the hype and success of the film grows to a threat not calculated: At more than 100 sites in the entire film takes to download. Although it takes for the 1.3 gigabyte almost days, to draw them with a conventional modem from the net, but thanks to CD-distillery to spread the Internet movies like wildfire. As late as May reached the first "Phantom Menace" copies of Braunschweig. Supposedly, the film at the FH Wolfenbüttel drawn and there already shown in the highly private parties, on a large screen. The quality of the so-called Z-Version (A little Z in the course of the film appears multiple times in a corner) is good: In full screen mode and you have a stereo video-tingling experience of a particular species. we had initially denied the film piracy, officials from, Lucas is now on the offensive: An extra firm hired to prepare the activities to an end. The work proves to be Sisyphean task. For any closed web site will immediately on two new on the net.
Of course, the Internet bootlegs detract from the success at the box office barely knows and Lucas, who estimates the computer network and at times very amusing finds: "I have fun with all the speculations of fan sites on the Internet. It's really unbelievable what it says can do. Before anyone had ever seen the movie, you could read an entire story. This story, however, corresponded only to 10 percent of my movie - the rest was pure speculation and invention. "

An angry Gordon Radley, president of Lucasfilm, said, "the public is intolerant" of video bootleggers. "They are disgusted about the quality, and they are offended by the idea that this is happening while the film is in the theater."
He added, "They are not getting the full experience that `Stars Wars' can be."
