All that blue milk has gone right to your bones!
All that blue milk has gone right to your bones!
They have tons of stories for this type of show from the various comic book series. Star Wars Tales has at least one story per issue, a quick adaptation using the actual art with some minor animation could fill out a show per season alone. Heck pay the people who made some of the fanfilms/viral video's and there's another show a season. Sounds to me like the they've either got some cash to spare and are putting it towards content or the real life show is getting a second pass (this being one of the criticisms of the Prequels that things weren't given the time to evolved and flush out) so to fill the void these additional shows are coming out.
<speculation/OFF>
And the video is back, here's the going explanation:

Came across these modern Childhood Misconceptions recently:

Scroll down to the comments where the following phrase is born:
That's awsome, I love the origanal trilagy!
But was that really the Origan of this Origanal statement. So googleing and this gem of a misconception appears:
http://boards.theforce.net/revenge_of_the_sith/b10331/21959628/r21962050/
Subject: The greatest Revenge came from a kid. Yup!
(Speaking about the young Boba Fett)
It was painful to see his own father die on that arena that day. And he promised to get Revenge, and he did, by multiplying into thousands and that way assuring his revenge on the jedi. The greatest revenge in the galaxy came from Boba Fett, not the sith.
Here's a bonus feature for the DVD version:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T75CMlzRmF4
Group of friends (some hang out in the fan film forum of TF.n) got together to watch the Review. Who knows maybe there will be lines of people waiting for entrance to parties when RotS gets reviewed!
As part of the dying breed who saw the Holiday Special first, we are warped. and a tad stoopid. But you wants a black notched light saber now… Don’t you!
Because the review was the number one video on youtube, it would seem Cartoon Network wants to get a piece of the attention so they've submitted what seems to be a completely false copyright claim. There is no CN video material in the Part 1 AotC review, don't know the source of the background sounds, but that's no reason to question the video. This is a False Claim and hopefully someone will take notice of this faulty practice.
here's a copy of the video:
The ESB Obi-Wan says 'that boy is our last hope" and Yoda replies "no there is another"
.
.
.
.
.
Then wait a few years, and the Kenner Special Offer is!!!!!
So using the massive brain of a 9 years old I put my celebration of aliens together with a desire to know who the last hope was and Whaaala!
Admiral Ackbar is the Last Hope of the Jedi.
See even the figure came with a black notched light saber.
ALIENS RULE!!!!

Same feeling as after submitting my ANH-37, hopefully a little better this time.
There seems to be a shift in some of the policies of this forum.
The 'Donation' concept, when's it ok, when's it not.
The existing rules state:
http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Fan-edit-preservation-forum-rules-and-FAQ/forum/9/topic/5950/
1. No discussions about financial transactions except for the buying, selling, or trading of official retail media. All For Sale/For Trade/Wanting To Buy posts belong in the buying/selling/trading forum.
Do Donations fall inside/outside this category? The policy shift seems to be that Donations (direct paypal links for instance) are ok to ask for and can appear anywhere on the site. (since for some they are part of users signatures) The community tends to shoot down newbies, but projects are actively implementing this financial transaction structure.
Also does this forum perceive that a project could surface which could require an amendment to the rules so that the project and it's author are able to remain on premises.
I would like to throw up 'Thee Backslacpkping With Media' (tBSWM)
http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Thee-Backslacpkping-With-Media-5-years-ago/topic/7758/
as an example of a project which hopes to showcase that there can be creative works which do meet the ideals of a fan edit but push the concept to a length where the final work can't be confused with any existing works although they might share material. In copyright law, there's a statue called 'Fair Use' which allows creators to reuse culture to produce new culture. (an exception which promotes the advancement of culture often for educational purposes) Since I feel that tBSWM falls into these ideals, i'm proposing the idea to see if a rule amendment is worthwhile or things can stand as is and these deviations will be explained as they are questioned.
In relation to the shift in Donations, (which haven't received any complaints) tBSWM has also violated Rule 4, without any complaints:
4. No direct links to media downloads of copyrighted materials (VOBs, WMV, QuickTime, torrent files, NZB files, ED2K links, etc.) with the exception of short clips to demonstrate quality or content. No direct links to pages containing such files.
The violation being that the entire presentation is available from one webpage and the full DVD also available from a link click.
And then to make things more messy, i've offered the entire tBSWM project ownership able to be bought. (i'd like to start a company which could make the program i'm speculating to exists) To do that someone would symbolically purchase everything of that project, i'd relinquish ownership and receive funds to start a company. This as it stands violates Rule 2:
2. No profiting from any activities related to fan edits or preservation efforts. Those found selling their fan edits or preservation projects here or elsewhere will be banned.
So besides being highly outlandish and more relevantly unobtainable, what's the conscientious?

Thanks klokwerk for watching and commenting.
Another example from Sci-Fi of video edited on demand would be TNG. There's at least a few cases where Data would sit in front of a screen and speed watch selected video. It's not directly discussed how the video in the scene got sequenced but it's guessed at like an encyclopedia entry. (also there's the scene of him listening to several musical pieces at the same time, which explains my love of noise) Collecting these clips would make a great introduction to a product concept video. Hadn't heard of 'The Final Cut', will check it out.
Glad you found a 'narrative' in the clips you previewed. Some definitely had a logical progression so that the piece people were talking about sequed so that you would be drawn into and understand the issues at the end of the chapter, or at least be introduced to what they said, everyone can draw their own conclusions. But then there's some chapter like Stormtroopers and Lightsabers which are what you were expecting, just a mass of clips which really don't go anywhere. It depended on the material, how the final application came out.
Although copyright is seen to be restrictive now, as systems which could do this video search start appearing, I think the majority of creators would rather have their creations available to the those who search, then have their works locked down temporarily or eternally.

Take the donations discussion here:
Agree, general philosophy around here is show what you can do. Plus for a project with such a strange method and final goal, just to prove to yourself you can do it, Might want to start with a 1-5 minute test reel.
Would it better to have groups of individual scenes as posts. Or is this numbering system of a certain reasoning beyond, here's the total number of changes? You mentioned the problem with text character totals so if you spread out each scene/s to an individual post now, you'd have a more permanent location (to cross reference) instead of having to expand and shift content down posts periodically.
I guess i'm wondering for future fan edits, what if a new thread option could tap into a series of posts which reference the scripts, and those could be modified to notate and describe the changes. (stop thinking out loud)
A possible reason PvsG decided to focus on the wamp-rat aspect of Adywan's edit is because it does show a joining of the minds. For the most part one side of the argument has expressed their disapproval of the Special Editions changes, yet this sequence is one of those from the SE which ended up in the fan collaborated Adywan edit. So PvsG could be using it to show that there is some give and take from Lucasfilm and the Fan Editing Community towards the final definitive 'Star Wars'. Yeah that's probably a stretch...
On the 'any press is good press' side of this issue. Although there might be inaccuracies or tweaked opinions in the final doc, the upside of getting word out about the goals of this website and the goals of the fan editing community could outweight the initial misconceptions. If this thing does get a theatrical release, how many more people will end up aware of the work being accomplished here. And if their interest is great enough, they'll find the reasons for the tweaked opinions in the words in these forums.
Also for the first time, in the io9 interview they've talked about releasing the full interviews with some of the participants. That's a great resource, let's hope we hear more of this.
There's many reviews and they have a generally appreciative response: (http://news.google.com/news/search?aq=f&pz=1&cf=all&ned=us&hl=en&q=people+vs+george)
The AICN (and related) view it as somewhat boring (or 5 years too late as they put it) because they've grown up with these issues and are familiar on an intimate level. (these tend to be the Hollywood insider type blogs) Then there are the majority of the reviews (and blog responses) where they cater towards the people who just want to release some bile. Unfortunately in some of the interviews the director gets caught in this mentality and looses his balanced stance. And in the last few days there's been 2 or three reviews which move beyond the doc. to explain how societies interaction with culture is changing.

Relevant Portions:
Philippe: You know that's interesting because it really reminded me of, there's a guy, who's actually in the film, whose name is Adywan he's essentially a God among fan-editors. The whole fan edit movement is a whole other thing, but he spent two and a half years working on his recreation of Star Wars the way it should be, according to him. It's just a tremendous amount of work. But you look at some of the stuff he's done, for instance, we actually show a shot, a comparison, between George's version and Adywan's version. In George's version there's maybe five critters [on screen] and Adywan's only has two. And I say, If you had a problem, if you had an issue with those critters, why didn't you just remove them all? But he wanted to keep [two of] them. It's so nit-picky, it's really interesting. That's how passionate they are. They have this vision of Star Wars and they appropriate it and it becomes theirs. And in fact, all of them talk about it in terms of "this is in MY Star Wars." It's a very personal thing.
There's the example of the originaltrilogy.com website who petitioned to put out the original edition, and within the first few weeks you had 78,000 confirmed signatures. So the excuse that it costs too much money to restore those films, with all due respect to Lucasfilm, it's baloney. Of course the fans would buy it and of course they would make their money back. George has made it very very clear that he does not want these original films to be seen. I've received e-mails from theaters saying "We tried! We wanted to do a retrospective on the great films of the 20th century and we contacted Lucas Film. We assumed we could get a print of the original Star Wars, we were denied that right.
This documentary really explores the social contract between artist and audience, what did you learn about this contract, what has it become today because of the internet? Has it changed?
This is a difficult question because you can approach this question legally or morally. I'll approach it from a moral perspective. I think we live in a age where culture is rising. The fans are rising in a powerful way, perhaps also in some dangerous ways. But also in ways that reflect where culture is now. In recent years the fans have been expressing this sense that George these are not just your movies, these are also our movies. They belong to our culture. The fan editing movement as a whole is an embodiment of that. Henry Jenkins talks about Alice In Wonderland and how Lewis Carroll, by [the author] giving it to the people made and allowing them to remix it, allowing people to play in that sandbox, was precisely what made Alice one of the most popular texts around. Even considering the resistance that Lucas Film has had, the fans have remixed made fan films it and continue to play with it. It's a shared thing. I understand that there is legal ramifications and copyright laws and that is all fair. But when something, like Star Wars transcends, it's not just a story it's something that touches most of us in a very profound way. It's a reflection of culture, of our own selves. Therefore I believe that culture is entitled to it. I feel very strongly about this, that the fans are entitled to a restored, pristine trilogy the way we saw it.

5 years ago, as the release date of Revenge of the Sith approached, the media in this presentation was being broadcasted worldwide.
If you could, would you please tell whomever you think might appreciate this presentation, a friend, a blog, whomever. I seem to have a block which is prohibiting me from getting across why this project is fun to watch. Too bogged down in the ancillaries. Plus maybe the here and now seems to be flooded with a different vibe, maybe this thing needs to sit for another 5. If you've got a blog in mind, the basic info is:

To regain forum cred. (since i've done so poorly on ANH) people like me will watch them again with timecode in mind. After first read of the contest's rules, 15 minutes sounded like a luxury....and with my first few answers I needed every second and might have missed as well... oh my. My current excuse will be that I never had a VCR or laserdisc when growing up.... yeah and i'm sticking to it, until the next better excuse. (Which will probably be along the lines that I liked the Universe better then the story.)
Great game. Bah, keep massaging the numbers around and it doesn't seem to be helping my recall.

In celebration of Empire's 30th anniversary, we're reprinting this expansive interview with the film's screenwriter which first appeared in issue #49 of Star Wars Insider ten years ago.
