Hayden Blackman Quits Lucasarts. No further details at the moment.
Time

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/102475-The-Force-Unleashed-Executive-Producer-Leaves-LucasArts

Haden Blackman, the executive producer and writer on The Force Unleashed, has resigned from LucasArts to "explore new creative challenges."

"I've had a fantastic time working with the team at Lucasfilm and am really grateful for their ongoing support," he said. "While the decision to leave LucasArts did not happen overnight or come easily, I really feel that now is the best time for me to move on and explore new creative challenges and I look forward to the next phase of my career."

STAR WARS - THE ULTIMATE EXPERIENCE - Is Forever ...One Last Time (Television Trilogy Preservation Set + SW Commercial Breaks) -The Ordeal Is Real- & available (Released)
Time

The purpose of this set is to remember all the SWTV from the first 10 years of the phenomenon.

What would you like to see included?

Just remembered George's Japanese camera commercial, which would be good to see again. Have been trying to find toy/trailer commercials from around the world, found a few from the Lili Ledy company which aren't reuses of the Kenner commercials. Also surprised to find an advert bumper for the original Making Of SW special broadcast.

Here's a look at the working files:

While suggestions for material to be added to the commercial breaks come in, need to start working on the Introduction and Menu parts of the discs.

***SPOILERS***

In the second post the contents of SWUE02 & SWUE03 have been added.

Ordeal?

You aren't selling this very well, lol.

Don't have a marketing department, sorry. but I did say a 'Star Wars Ordeal.' So when watched on Ord Mantell your Ultimate Experience which is Forever...One Last Time might seem like 4 hours instead of 4.5! ...or was that 5 hours instead of 4.5...

I find marketing generally annoying and disingenuous. The title, for this project, comes from three old SW marketing tag lines which when combined reflect an inherent irregularity confusion. So in this project, i've highlighted the SW marketing campaign by showing the commercials and behind the scenes material and how they related to the evolution of the franchise. It's sad, but when you watch the actor interviews over the span of these three discs, you see their interest wain. But yet the phenomenon was growing conversely. This growth is shown in the continuous Premiering Star Wars had, where over the course of 5 years, the movie premiered in the theaters, theatrical re-releases, on pay tv, cable tv, network tv, public tv, international broadcasts, and eventually home video... which has it's own confusing history which shows up in the ESB and ROTJ discs with various LaserDisc promos and commercials before the videocassette shows up. This set was created to provide an introduction to the media of the SW phenomenon in those formative years.

And what better way then to surround the abandoned Ultimate Experience, which %20 is Foreveringly bringing it back ...one last time, in the detritus of those day.

Star Wars Original Trilogy Theatrical and Home Video Trailers Deconstruction
Time

In the first post added information to each listing. Also was able to find trailers for each movie in japanese and german so added those, and a few others I missed. Would like to include other languages, if one trailer for each of the movies can be found. Also added the Special Edition trailers, at editing time will decide if they'll be included.

STAR WARS ASCIIMATION in WQXGA or QSXGA *
Time

Sluggo wrote:

will you be posting it on a website or releasing it on a disc?

Projects i've released have been/are released through my website as RARs and through usenet, this should be no different.

This is a long range project. Inspiration is a strange beast. The asciimation is wonderful as it is, and Mr. Jansen has his own internal clock on when it will get finished.

But in preparation for that day, i'll be using this thread to discuss options on final presentation and other preparatory aspects. (maybe even a beta)

Sluggo continued:

And why hasn't anyone added an awesome .midi soundtrack?

There's a version of the SW Asciimation on youtube with a soundtrack.

Almost 10 years ago, I did a dictionaroake version of the Star Wars Crawl with midi accompanyment:

http://noneinc.com/sound/Dictionaraoke/Dictionaraoke-none-StarWarsEp4ANH.mp3

The idea of doing the entire SW Asciimation is definitely in the mind. Other text-2-speech options can be created as well.

Leonardo wrote:

I would prefer IBM speaker music, complete with effects!

Multiple soundtracks utilizing old skool computing technics is very much something to consider and seems logical. (got some practice with multiple audio options with my recently competed AESB project) Please suggest places to find SW compositions in 'x' formats. I've got a bunch of midi's which i'll pull out to see which music fits with the created scenes.

Also for discussion will be how to transfer from the 67x14 character resolution to the largest of the day resolution. The two options i'm seeing are A. a pixel by pixel translation and B. character translation. A. would end up with huge massive jaggies, and B. would be require a new transfer, but would have smooth edges. Most likely both options will be done. Need to figure out the automation process in the mean time.

For whatever reason I also forsee an Aurebesh fonted third option. Which will probably make zero sense.

The SW Asciimation began in 1997, at that time the public was just beginning to flock to the internet, online video was rarely attempted. By the time this project gets completed bluray might be long forgotten and most movies get rendered at outrageous resolution so they can be projected on massive engineered cloud formations so a whole city can watch one program.

But at that time, the SW Asciimation will be there.

Star Wars Original Trilogy Theatrical and Home Video Trailers Deconstruction
Time

Idea: Take all the trailers, remove all untouched movie moments to leave behind the voice over and graphic elements. Then take those bits and resequence them by commonality.

Right now trying to determine if I have all the Trailers and have them in the correct order. Did a version which was organized by movie, but sequential seems more appropriate. Am including all variations, so if there's a widescreen and pan-scan version i'm including both. I think what i'm missing are television versions for many of these. Would love to dip into foreign language versions, if they're out there as well. Currently working pre-SE material, but if there's interest will continue to include any time frame. Feel free to make suggestions or toss out ideas.

Question: were there ever any Home LaserDisc commercials, like the Home Video ones? Or was it too small a market.

(Please correct any data - some comes from file names and might be incorrect)

STAR WARS - THE ULTIMATE EXPERIENCE - Is Forever ...One Last Time (Television Trilogy Preservation Set + SW Commercial Breaks) -The Ordeal Is Real- & available (Released)
Time

Update 2010.07.21: The video for the main 3 features with the new SW only commercial breaks (less commercials, more interviews & other then initially expected) has been more or less finalized. Added over 100 SW television broadcasts throughout the movies to give a flavor of what was going down. For the most part each movie has material from the 3 years after the films release. Found some phun stuff, my favorite being an interview with Anthony Daniels where he fumbles that he's not sure his character, 3po, will be in the SW Sequels. That clip begins the ESB disc.

:::HELP NEEDED:::

I've been unable to locate and coordinate getting a copy of the Carrie Fisher hosted segments of the Sci-Fi channel broadcast. If you have a copy or know of someone who might be able to provide them, it would make this set more informative. Tips or leads appreciated. thanks

Please, Please, Please take a bootleg picture of your viewing experience! It's been rumored to be phun...

I'll post some mini-reviews of each of the commentaries. They run the full fan experience, from people just riffing off the cuff full of non-sequitors, to lots of general knowledge or factoids, to some serious indepth discussion of the 70mm prints, and several mentions of OT.com projects (Building Empire, EDITDROID, Adywan).

I found it phun to bounce around commentaries, using the potential of the remote to alleviate boredom. In this format, the disc can be used to understand how the general fan community perceives certain segments of the film. Instead of watching the whole film, you can watch one scene but listen to the multiple commentaries, to learn what issues these folks latched onto. For instance Lando's clothing choice at the end, is something multiple commentaries focused on.
