Any noteworthy updates regarding your progress on Deathly Hallows chapters wise? Also, are you planning on doing this with any other audiobooks once you’re done with Harry Potter?

Not really any updates so far. I have considered doing other audiobooks, but I’m still not too sure. I’d have to be in the mood to work on it, and if I feel I’d like such a thing to exist.

For what it’s worth…My vote would be to remove Catwoman from the final shot for the reasons mentioned above but also, to differentiate this edit from the original version. If you want that ending, watch that version.

When making fan edits, the plans are to make the best version of the film possible, per the editor’s perspective, when producing FanFixes. I don’t want to make changes just for the sake of being different. Every change, removal or addition needs to serve a purpose.

I know that Joel Schumacher’s two films take place in the same continuity.

They definitely don’t.

Either way, I much prefer including the final shot. It’s a perfect ending shot and I much prefer seeing Catwoman survive. It doesn’t matter that the shot was added because execs wanted her in spinoffs and sequels that never happened, the point is that it’s a more hopeful ending.

Joel Schumacher’s two films are sequels to Tim Burton’s two films. Michael Gough and Pat Hingle reprise their roles as Alfred and Gordon in them as well.

Also, Catwoman did get a spin-off, but it had been changed so much it ended up being that infamous Halle Berry movie.

However, all of these discussions are for a different thread.

Why are you cutting out catwoman in the final shot?

It’s because the film was originally going to keep her fate ambiguous. However, Warner Bros ordered Tim Burton and the producers to clearly show she survive. It was one of the last minute things that was done. I personally feel doing this takes away some of the mystery and intrigue. Besides, she never even returned for the others movies as well.

Yeah but she does return in the sequel comic and I don’t if this matters but the love interest in Batman forever does mentions catwoman by saying he like women in leather and whips. so technically it is a sequel to Batman Returns even though the tone is different.

I know that Joel Schumacher’s two films take place in the same continuity. I could end up changing my mind and leave Catwoman in the final shot.

By the way, there’s also no way for her to even be standing there in that shot. If you look at the final shot closely as it pans up to the sky, there are no visible buildings close enough to the camera for her to be standing on top of.

That said, I see nothing wrong with a fanedit Burtonizing Batman Forever, just know that I see it the same way I would Burtonizing Batman Begins (something I’d kinda like to try someday).

Good luck on your efforts! I won’t be making edits of Nolan’s trilogy, as I see it as one of the definite iterations of Batman, and it’s one of my favorite trilogies of all time.

Batman Forever: Caped Crusader Edition (Planned Project) (VFX NEEDED!)
Time

This project is intended to improve Batman Forever as both a film, as well as keeping it in line and tone with Tim Burton’s two movies, since it is part of the same continuity.

Batman Forever is a film I never thought I would be making an edit of. I’ve never been a fan of Joel Schumacher’s two Batman films, even if it was Warner Bros who made this and Batman & Robin the way they were. I figured this movie, just like Batman & Robin, was an unsalvageable mess.

However, it wasn’t until I took a deep dive look into this film’s production, as well as what it was trying to be. The deleted scenes were quite fascinating, and it would be interesting to add them back in. However, the tone, flashy neon presentation and Elliot Goldenthal’s cartoony score, which adds to the animated feel of the film really don’t help. I decided to do some color correction to the film to look closer to Batman, while also not severely ruining the natural look that’s already there. Another aspect is re-scoring the film with work by Danny Elfman from his Batman films, Sleepy Hollow and others. Joel McNeely’s cover of his Batman work on The Batman Trilogy album also plays a role in this film’s new score too. Finally, the film will be trimmed and restructured to feel much more focused when it comes to its narrative and tone.

A big thanks goes to CamSMurph for suggesting ideas and being an inspiration for this project. Full disclosure, I will not be doing an edit of Batman & Robin, as I personally find the film unsalvageable in terms of re-editing, despite enjoying it as a “so bad it’s good” experience

I present the third of my Batman edits.

Color corrected the entire film.

Re-scored the entire film with Danny Elfman’s work and Joel McNeely’s covers from The Batman Trilogy album.

Removed almost all cartoon sound effects from the film.

Added in a new Warner Bros. logo.

Added in the deleted scene at Arkham Asylum, revealing Two-Face’s escape. Also added in some new shots of Arkham from Batman & Robin.

The original opening credits have been removed and replaced with a new sequence, resembling Tim Burton’s Batman films.

Added shots of the Moon, Wayne Manor, and slightly trimmed the suit-up sequence, adding in shots from Batman & Robin. Also removed the drive-thru joke between Batman and Alfred.

VFX will be needed to remove the opening ending credits text from the beginning of the film.

Trimmed the exterior shots of the second bank of Gotham.

Removed Two-Face’s line, “Let’s see.”

Removed Two-Face’s line, “Farewell forever to that pointy-eared night rat!”

Added in a new shot of Gotham City, along with a text card to stay in continuity with Burton’s films.

Trimmed away Nygma laughing as he watches the circus massacre.

Cut Bruce shouting, “I’m Batman!”

Removed Chase calling for Bruce and a shot of Nygma watching the massacre on TV.

The sequence of the death of the Graysons has the sound drowned out for a dramatic effect, as the music plays out.

Faintly added Jack Napier’s line, “Do you ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight” over the shot of the silhouette of the killer.

Added the deleted scene of Bruce consulting Dick over his pain and anger towards Two-Face.

Removed Bruce’s line, “Sounds great. Thanks.”

If it’s possible, it would be great if someone very talented with VFX could digitally remove Jim Carrey in Riddler costume standing in the background of Two-Face’s lair before walking into the scene.

Removed Riddler’s line, “KILL THE BAT! Sounds like a good idea!”

Cut Riddler talking about Batman’s depression, as well as his mocking cry.

Lightly trimmed the Riddler describing Two-Face’s lair.

Removed the laundry karate scene.

Removed the casino robbery scene.

Added the deleted scene of Batman getting tricked into where the crime is taking place. Added a shot of the Batmobile from earlier that was removed from the chase sequence. Riddler and Two-Face drive off afterwards.

Removed Dick’s, “Now!”

Removed the shot of Dick waving at Alfred.

Cut Chase’s, “Rage, violence, passion,” as well as the kiss.

Trimmed away some of Riddler and Two-Face’s reaction shots.

Removed Riddler’s, “Bummer!”

Looking forward to this is it possible for you to do this for Batman returns as well next? because I hate that he kills in that film as well.

I’m planning on making edits of Batman Returns and Batman Forever as well.

If only the new Batman 89 comic didn’t have Batman kill It would have completely crushed Batman forever.

Didn’t that comic get cancelled, or didn’t get picked up due to copyright and licensing issues?

No it was finished it was six issues catwoman is in it barbera gordon yes as Jim Gordon’s daughter is in it not as batgirl and dating Billy dee Williams Harvey dent we got a new take on robin based on the planned marlon wayan’s version.

Batman Returns: Caped Crusader Edition (Planned Project) (VFX NEEDED!)
Time

This project is intended to improve Batman Returns to be a little more in line with how these characters have usually been portrayed throughout history.

Batman Returns is a difficult movie for me to get out my feelings on. I have a like/dislike feeling for this movie. Like Tim Burton’s first movie, I like this movie for what it is and how it feels like a gothic tragedy. However, there are a lot of very goofy and weird elements that take me out of it. I do wish both films, especially this one, focused more on the character of Batman/Bruce Wayne, as it is clear Burton was more interested in the villains. This is really a Tim Burton movie than it is a Batman movie.

This edit mainly focuses on strengthening the flow of the film, as well as doing its best to trim away and unnecessary elements that Burton strayed too far from. I once again used Double ‘O’ Productions’ VFX work in a loving way to fix up any errors found within the film.

I present the second of my Batman edits, which still remains mostly the same to the original film.

The primary video source will be from the original Blu-ray release. The entire film has been color corrected.

Added in my name as an editor during the opening credits, as well as lovingly borrowing Double ‘O’ Productions’ addition of Bill Finger’s credit.

Lovingly borrowed a shot from Double ‘O’ Productions that fixes a shot of the Penguin looking at his pocket watch.

Added in a shot of a full moon prior to the first shot of Wayne Manor.

Removed Batman setting the devil clown on fire.

Lovingly borrowed shots from Double ‘O’ Productions that removes the subtle line around the wall that Batman pulls out with his grappling gun.

Cut Selina using the taser on the clown.

Moved Selina returning to her apartment prior to Shreck’s deal with the Penguin.

Trimmed away the cat nibbling on Selina’s fingers.

Trimmed away Selina shredding her stuffed animals.

Removed a very brief frame on the TV Bruce is watching at Wayne Manor.

Lovingly borrowed a shot from Double ‘O’ Productions that fixes a wobbly gravestone the Penguin walks by.

Moved Catwoman saving the woman from the mugger prior to the Penguin visiting his parents’ tombstone.

Removed the shot of Bruce walking to Shreck’s building for better pacing and a tighter transition to his business meeting.

Removed Bruce’s “Thanks” to Selina.

Trimmed some of the awkward confusion of Bruce recognizing Selina as Batman.

Trimmed away the bomb attached to the clown, removing the ticking sounds.

Moved Catwoman breaking into Shreck’s department store prior to Batman’s first encounter with the Red Triangle Circus Gang.

Removed the cop’s surrendering dialogue to Catwoman.

Removed the sequence of Batman killing the strongman with the bomb.

Lovingly borrowed a shot from Double ‘O’ Productions that replaces Catwoman’s stunt double’s face with Michelle Pfeiffer’s.

Cut the Penguin making a bat hand puppet.

Trimmed away Catwoman bathing herself like a cat.

Removed Selina commenting on what the News reported on Catwoman.

Removed the Ice Princess asking what the sonar batarang is.

Trimmed away Bruce mentioning kissing Selina.

Removed Catwoman screaming and breaking the greenhouse’s glass.

Removed the close up shot of the old lady.

Cut Bruce mentioning Alfred letting Vicki Vale into the Batcave, since that’s no longer in my edit of the original movie.

Trimmed away Bruce doing a record scratch on the CD.

Removed the scene of Bruce making his mind up on going to Shreck’s party.

Muted the Penguin reading out Batman’s letter.

Lovingly borrowed a shot from Double ‘O’ Productions that fixes the error of Batman’s eye makeup disappearing.

Trimmed down Shreck shooting Selina.

Removed a wide shot of the generator exploding, as you can see Selina and Shreck’s stunt doubles step off set.

Cut Catwoman from the final shot. It would also be great if someone who knows VFX could remove her from the shot.

Added an acknowledgement credit to Double ‘O’ Productions, replaced Siouxsie and the Banshees’ song in the end credits with more work from Danny Elfman, and updating the Warner Bros distribution logo at the end.

Batman: Caped Crusader Edition (WIP)
Time

This project is intended to improve, as well as slightly update Tim Burton’s original Batman movie to be a little more in line with how these characters have been portrayed throughout their incredibly long legacy.

While I personally like this movie for what it is, I can’t exactly say it’s great, nor can I say that it is a true representation of the Batman character, as Tim Burton took a number of liberties with the character. There are many things I do love about this movie, such as its visual design and Danny Elfman’s iconic score, but I do think the story, and even the characterizations of the characters aren’t the most engaging.

This edit seeks to trim any elements that are either not the strongest, or a bit outdated by today, as well as restructuring the flow of sequences to play out better. Any elements that are out of character, such as Batman murdering criminals or Alfred letting Vicki Vale into the Batcave have been eliminated. Bruce Wayne and Vicki Vale’s romance has also been trimmed away, as it doesn’t exactly need to be there in order for the mystery behind his backstory to play out. The arc of the Joker being the murderer of the Waynes remains, however, since the film is built around an emotional tie between the hero and villain, and trimming it away would weaken the narrative. I also used Double ‘O’ Productions’ project, which fixes the color timing of the 2019 4K release and includes VFX work to fix up any errors found within the film, done to a high standard.

I present the first of my Batman edits, which still remains mostly the same to the original film.

The primary video source will be Double ‘O’ Productions’ project, with the audio used from the original Blu-ray release. The entire film has been color corrected.

Added in my name as an editor during the opening credits.

Moved Gotham’s press conference and Jack Napier and Alicia Hunt’s conversation to before Batman stops the two muggers.

Trimmed away Knox further questioning Eckhardt after walking away.

Removed Vicki telling Knox that she likes bats.

Replaced the 80s funk music during Bruce Wayne’s fundraiser with “In a Mellow Tone.”

Bruce’s introduction in the film now takes place in the display room with Vicki and Knox.

Removed Knox calling for Gordon as he and Vicki view Bruce’s gallery.

Removed a shot of Batman behind Napier after running up some stairs.

Trimmed away Jack hanging from the railing before falling into the vat of chemicals, as it raises the question whether Batman let him go or not.

Moved the surgery aftermath scene prior to Vicki’s date at Wayne Manor.

Removed the entire sequence of Vicki staying at Wayne Manor and sleeping with Bruce.

Trimmed away the Joker’s line, “What a day” and some more laughing to bridge two scenes together better.

Moved the scene between Vicki and Knox on the Wayne file prior to the Joker’s mob meeting.

Moved Alicia Hunt’s reaction to the Joker after Bruce looks at Jack Napier’s criminal files.

Muted Joker repeating “I’m glad you’re dead.”

Moved the Joker’s reaction to the news report on TV prior to him monitoring the toxins at Axis Chemicals.

Moved the scene of the Joker cutting photographs after Harvey Dent on the phone.

Mute Vicki screaming as she holds onto Batman on the line launcher.

Mute Vicki’s screams as her and Batman run through the alleyways, as well as grappling upwards.

Removed Bob telling his guys to check Batman’s wallet.

Removed the scene in the Batcave of Alfred advising Bruce to tell Vicki the truth.

Removed the entire scene in Vicki’s apartment between her, Bruce and the Joker.

Trimmed away Alfred letting Vicki into the Batcave and her conversation with Bruce.

Removed Batman destroying Axis Chemicals, as well as adding in a shot of Gotham City to transition better to Joker’s parade.

Removed Vicki saying, “Smylex gas.”

Trimmed away Batman shooting missiles down upon the Joker’s parade.

Trimmed away Batman leg throwing Joker’s goon down the cathedral.

Used the 2019 audio mix, which improves the sound recording of Batman’s line, “Excuse me. Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?”

Muted Batman telling the Joker he’s going to kill him.

Replaced Prince’s song in the end credits with more work from Danny Elfman, and updating the Warner Bros distribution logo at the end.
