It looks like copyright has struck again. I can’t find the Philosopher’s Stone on Archive.

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, just like its predecessor, Man of Steel, polarized many people, even more so. At the time, I was very disappointed with how it turned out. The film was, at times, going off track from the “Batman V Superman” portion and focusing more on the “Dawn of Justice” subtitle. There were a number of various subplots that ultimately, didn’t need to be there in order to make the payoff work. Zack Snyder doubled down on what I, and a lot of others, disliked about Man of Steel and reinforced it in this film. Superman mostly mopes and does nothing to help the people to understand his purposes and reasons for protecting and serving them, and Batman is way too mean and kills people, with no explanation as to why he’s doing so. The portrayal of Lex Luthor, as well, was absolutely appalling and highly questionable. The film’s tone was just as bleak, depressing and pretentious, perhaps even more so than Man of Steel. Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL’s score, I thought was really bad. Very loud and noisy, especially Holkenborg’s theme for Batman. The Ultimate Edition, while a little better due to fleshing out the plot to be much clearer, still didn’t help out that much.

This edit is a sequel to Superman: The Man of Steel, and seeks to heavily restructure the film, streamlining and focusing the narrative on the important elements within the plot. Many sequences and scenes have been removed to trim off all of the fat. The colors have been corrected and Zimmer and Holkenborg’s work has been replaced with Danny Elfman’s Batman theme, John Williams’ Superman theme and John Ottman’s theme for Lex Luthor. I have decided to keep Zimmer’s Wonder Woman theme, as I feel it was the only new theme that worked well for the character and was memorable. The final act with Doomsday and the death of Superman has been kept to set up the Justice League movie, despite feeling out of place from the “Batman V Superman” plot. This is my take on how Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, could have been presented.

I’d like to give thanks to reeseevans, Mr. Blue and Wakeupkeo for their work on their own edits of this film. A number of ideas comes from their work. Agent 9 also deserves a mention for his edit of Man of Steel, since he re-scored the film to transform it into a more traditional presentation.

The primary video source will be from kk650’s color regrade of the Ultimate Edition, while also color corrected throughout. The theatrical cut is also used in some places.

Re-scored the entire film with Danny Elfman’s Batman work, along with John Williams, Ken Thorne, Alexander Courage and John Ottman’s Superman work. Their work from other films is also used. Hans Zimmer’s theme for Wonder Woman is kept, however.

Moved Bruce’s opening narration and the flashback sequence of the death of the Waynes and their funeral after the battle in Metropolis.

Recut the opening credits sequence to time better with the new music, trimming it down heavily. The titles have also been redone, adding in new credits and a title card, using the Batman/Superman logo from the trailer. VFX will be needed for this.

Removed Thomas Wayne attempting to punch Joe Chill.

Removed Bruce flying in the cellar as the bats swarm him.

Removed Bruce’s narration as the flashback of him as a child ends.

Removed the title card introducing Metropolis and the events.

Bruce’s phone call to Jack cuts off almost immediately, adding in a subtle voiceover that the call has been disconnected.

Trimmed Bruce watching the building collapse, removing Superman and Zod’s fight and Jack’s prayer.

Removed Bruce walking by the teacher leading the kids out, using the theatrical cut.

Trimmed away some lines as Bruce helps Wallace Keefe.

Moved the kryptonite discovery scene in the Indian Ocean prior to the senators meeting Lex Luthor. Removed the text that describes where the scene takes place at. VFX will be needed to remove the text.

Removed the entire sequence in Africa, along with the bullet and journal subplot.

Removed Kahina Ziri’s testimony to Congress against Superman.

Added a new “18 Months Later” card prior to the cops arriving at the human trafficker’s hideout.

Removed the scene of the cops watching football in their car.

Moved the sequence of the cops encountering Batman in the human trafficker’s hideout to after the passage of time card.

Removed the subtitles from the victums speaking to the cops.

Trimmed the cop walking up the stairs, using the theatrical cut.

Trimmed Batman crawling along the ceiling as the cop shoots at him.

Removed the cop’s line, “Jesus Christ! He branded him.”

Moved the scene of Lois arriving at her apartment prior to the passage of time card. The shots of her receiving her mail have been removed. The bloody shirt has now been recontexualized to something she wore during her trip to Zod’s ship in Man of Steel.

Trimmed Lois and Clark’s discussion to be recontextualized as reflecting on the aftermath of the battle in Metropolis.

Trimmed off the end of Lois and Clark’s makeout session, using the theatrical cut, while transitioning to the “18 Months Later” card.

Trimmed away Bruce telling Alfred that they’re criminals.

Removed Lex telling the senators why his father called the company LexCorp.

Removed the mention of the “Metahuman Thesis.”

Removed Lex putting a Jolly Rancher into the Senator’s mouth.

Moved the scene of Clark making eggs while watching the news report to after Bruce and Alfred’s discussion in the Batcave. This is Kahina Ziri’s only appearance in this edit, as the subplot of her return to the city and being killed off has been removed. Her character has now been reduced to a civilian who lost many of their family during the battle in Metropolis and has decided to flee Gotham in fear of Superman.

Removed Perry’s, “Poor son of a bitch.”

Cut Lois out of the Daily Planet staff meeting, ending it on an extended shot of Clark.

Removed the scene of Lois leaving the offices for D.C. as Perry gives Clark a new assignment.

Removed Lex describing Finch’s hearings during his discussion with her, along with his question, “Do you know the oldest lie in America, Senator?”

Removed Bruce’s parademon nightmare, along with him waking up in bed. An exterior shot of the lake house is kept. VFX will be needed to remove Bruce inside, though.

Added a subtle laugh from the Joker used in Suicide Squad as Bruce looks at Robin’s suit to evoke memories of his death.

Removed Bruce taking a shower, using the theatrical cut’s transition.

Removed Clark asking a fellow journalist who Bruce Wayne is. Clark is already aware of him.

Removed Lex’s lines as he’s called up on stage prior to his speech.

Moved the scene of Wallace asking for Finch’s help after Santos’ death.

A shot from Man of Steel of Clark hugging Martha has also been added, along with a voiceover from Alfred and the Joker’s laugh as Batman reconsiders his actions. This now helps clarify the intended meaning of the scene. Batman is about to become the murderer of someone who also has a family, as he comes to the realization of his poor actions. Removing Batman killing people strengthens this scene further.

Man of Steel is a film that, at the time of its release, divided many on whether they liked or disliked it. I was incredibly excited to see it then, as the trailers were fantastic and I had been wanting to see a new Superman movie. I ended up leaving the theater feeling really disappointed in how it turned out. It didn’t live up to the deep and emotional experience the marketing had promised, as it seemed to sacrifice characters and storytelling in the third act for bombastic action and pure spectacle. The film also felt too dark and depressing for who is one of the most colorful and optimistic superheroes of all time. Hans Zimmer’s score didn’t click for me either, as it was fine as it was, but again, didn’t fit who Superman is. Overtime, the film has gotten better in some areas on repeat viewings, but I’m still not a fan of Zack Snyder’s vision.

This edit seeks to take what is there and turn Man of Steel into a more tonally accurate take on Superman. The film has been restructured, as some sequences have been removed, that never served a strong impact. The colors have all been corrected to breathe some life into it and not look so desaturated. Hans Zimmer’s score has been replaced with the classic Superman themes that have become synonymous with the character, and even new opening credits, based on Richard Donner’s two films, has been added. This is my take on what Man of Steel could’ve been.

Admittedly that chapters background music loop for The Order of the Phoenix can be a bit distacting by having music that finishes with a climatic finish every 40 seconds for over 10 mins. Small criticism for an otherwise perfect fanedit.

The best parts are when you added background noise that matches the environment, it frees the imagination from having to work on setting up the scene, so that the mind can focus on exactly what’s happening. For instance, when you add rain in the background when JKR writes it’s raining/bad weather, it sets the tone. It’s really great and relaxing. Privet drive street sounds are great too (like the distant lawn mowing). Also chimney fires are great. Some sounds give an ASMR kind of effect, it’s really immersive, really good choices. I look forward to how you are going to render the last book, and the chapters during which they reside under a tent.

Some looped music can be quite unnerving, the worst example is chapter 32 of The Order of the Phoenix (Out of the fire). I had to replace that file with the original because it’s just too annoying, even if it’s the music from the exact movie scene. It’s too loud sometimes too. Same thing for the first chapter of Prisoner of Azkaban when the trip to Egypt of the Weasleys is narrated.

One last thing maybe: even if it’s part of the Universe, the random owl sounds can be quite out of place and surprising when immersed in the story and ambiance you enriched. Similarly, some other effects relate exactly to the story in a way that makes them redundant to our own imagination and prevent us from relaxing into the ambience. For example, some door knocking sounds : we imagine these because they are announced by the narrator so we don’t need to hear them too as a sound effect, contrary to the continuous background ambiance that you give depth to. You prevent us from forgetting the description of the scene when you take care of the general ambience and you provide more immersion with some special effects for the most unusual sounds, there is simply this slight redundance sometimes a bit.

By the way, some voice effects are not from the original files if i remember correctly, and these are a fantastic improvement too.

It must have been really difficult to reach that level of quality. Amazing in any case.

Aquaman was a film that a lot of people seemed to have enjoyed. For me, I honestly found it to be a pretty dull experience. The biggest problem for me is probably the script. It doesn’t feel like anything new I’ve seen before and I didn’t really care all that much for the characters. It’s a real shame, because I think James Wan is a very solid filmmaker and did a solid job directing.

My edit attempts to do the best it can to hopefully make the film a bit more interesting to watch. While there isn’t as much stuff that can be done, due to its structure and no deleted scenes released, I feel that this is the best that can be done.

Not really any updates so far. I have considered doing other audiobooks, but I’m still not too sure. I’d have to be in the mood to work on it, and if I feel I’d like such a thing to exist.

For what it’s worth…My vote would be to remove Catwoman from the final shot for the reasons mentioned above but also, to differentiate this edit from the original version. If you want that ending, watch that version.

When making fan edits, the plans are to make the best version of the film possible, per the editor’s perspective, when producing FanFixes. I don’t want to make changes just for the sake of being different. Every change, removal or addition needs to serve a purpose.

Either way, I much prefer including the final shot. It’s a perfect ending shot and I much prefer seeing Catwoman survive. It doesn’t matter that the shot was added because execs wanted her in spinoffs and sequels that never happened, the point is that it’s a more hopeful ending.

Joel Schumacher’s two films are sequels to Tim Burton’s two films. Michael Gough and Pat Hingle reprise their roles as Alfred and Gordon in them as well.

Also, Catwoman did get a spin-off, but it had been changed so much it ended up being that infamous Halle Berry movie.

It was one of the last minute things that was done. I personally feel doing this takes away some of the mystery and intrigue. Besides, she never even returned for the others movies as well.

Yeah but she does return in the sequel comic and I don’t if this matters but the love interest in Batman forever does mentions catwoman by saying he like women in leather and whips. so technically it is a sequel to Batman Returns even though the tone is different.

I know that Joel Schumacher’s two films take place in the same continuity. I could end up changing my mind and leave Catwoman in the final shot.

By the way, there’s also no way for her to even be standing there in that shot. If you look at the final shot closely as it pans up to the sky, there are no visible buildings close enough to the camera for her to be standing on top of.

Good luck on your efforts! I won’t be making edits of Nolan’s trilogy, as I see it as one of the definite iterations of Batman, and it’s one of my favorite trilogies of all time.

This project is intended to improve Batman Forever as both a film, as well as keeping it in line and tone with Tim Burton’s two movies, since it is part of the same continuity.

Batman Forever is a film I never thought I would be making an edit of. I’ve never been a fan of Joel Schumacher’s two Batman films, even if it was Warner Bros who made this and Batman & Robin the way they were. I figured this movie, just like Batman & Robin, was an unsalvageable mess.

However, it wasn’t until I took a deep dive look into this film’s production, as well as what it was trying to be. The deleted scenes were quite fascinating, and it would be interesting to add them back in. However, the tone, flashy neon presentation and Elliot Goldenthal’s cartoony score, which adds to the animated feel of the film really don’t help. I decided to do some color correction to the film to look closer to Batman, while also not severely ruining the natural look that’s already there. Another aspect is re-scoring the film with work by Danny Elfman from his Batman films, Sleepy Hollow and others. Joel McNeely’s cover of his Batman work on The Batman Trilogy album also plays a role in this film’s new score too. Finally, the film will be trimmed and restructured to feel much more focused when it comes to its narrative and tone.

A big thanks goes to CamSMurph for suggesting ideas and being an inspiration for this project. Full disclosure, I will not be doing an edit of Batman & Robin, as I personally find the film unsalvageable in terms of re-editing, despite enjoying it as a “so bad it’s good” experience

I present the third of my Batman edits.

Color corrected the entire film.

Re-scored the entire film with Danny Elfman’s work and Joel McNeely’s covers from The Batman Trilogy album.

Removed almost all cartoon sound effects from the film.

Added in a new Warner Bros. logo.

Added in the deleted scene at Arkham Asylum, revealing Two-Face’s escape. Also added in some new shots of Arkham from Batman & Robin.

The original opening credits have been removed and replaced with a new sequence, resembling Tim Burton’s Batman films.

Added shots of the Moon, Wayne Manor, and slightly trimmed the suit-up sequence, adding in shots from Batman & Robin. Also removed the drive-thru joke between Batman and Alfred.

VFX will be needed to remove the opening ending credits text from the beginning of the film.

Trimmed the exterior shots of the second bank of Gotham.

Trimmed Two-Face’s monologue to the security guard.

Replaced the shots of Batman gliding down with brand new ones from older Batman commercials.

Removed Chase’s line, “Hot entrance,” replacing it with a shot of Gordon.

Removed Batman’s, “Agreed.”

Removed Chase’s final two lines to Batman before leaving.

Removed Two-Face’s lines, “Let’s start this party with a bang,” “Blast him” and “Open sesame.”

Added the alternate angles of Batman kicking down Two-Face’s henchmen from the trailer.

Added the alternate angles of Batman grabbing one of Two-Face’s men from the elevator shaft and throwing him into another.

Removed the guard’s “Oh no!”

Removed Two-Face’s cackling when delivering his message to Gotham on the helicopter.

Removed the guard’s line, “Oh no! It’s boiling acid!”

Removed the guard’s disapproval and approval of Batman’s orders.

Trimmed away more of the guard whining during the bank heist sequence.

Removed Two-Face’s whining over Batman escaping the vault.

Removed the reaction shot of the guard on the vault as it’s falling.

Removed Two-Face’s line, “This’ll fix him!”

Removed Two-Face’s line, “Let’s see.”

Removed Two-Face’s line, “Farewell forever to that pointy-eared night rat!”

Added in a new shot of Gotham City, along with a text card to stay in continuity with Burton’s films.

Removed the audio of the news report on the bank heist sequence.

Moved Bruce Wayne’s visit to Wayne Enterprises and conversation with Nygma prior to the bank heist sequence.

Slightly trimmed Nygma showing Bruce his invention before explaining its function to him.

Removed the sequence of Bruce using the underground tube transportation.

Moved the rooftop scene between Batman and Chase to after Alfred’s conversation with Dick.

Trimmed Chase’s line about Two-Face’s coin, now that the scene has been moved to later in the narrative.

Trimmed some of the flirtatious dialogue between Batman and Chase.

Removed some of Nygma’s excessive lines when finishing his invention.

Removed Nygma’s line, “Caffine’ll kill ya!” Added a transition to black, with Stickley waking up without Nigma poking at his mustache.

Removed Nygma’s, “Which one? This?”

Trimmed away the entire brain drain sequence.

Removed Nygma’s, “Hang on,” as well as his lines to Stickley after falling out of the window.

Cut Nygma’s line, “The memories…”

Removed Gordon’s line, “Yep. Definitely suicide.”

Removed the scene of Nygma returning to his apartment to make his next riddle.

Removed Nygma’s line, “Wayne Manor… Hmph!”

Cut Bruce getting lost in Chase before telling her about the riddles.

Cut Bruce and Chase acknowledging the answer to the first riddle.

Removed Gossip Gerty interviewing Bruce at the circus.

Added in an establishing shot of Nygma’s apartment from earlier that was removed, prior to him watching the circus on TV.

Muted Two-Face’s laughs and cackles throughout the circus raid.

Trimmed away Nygma laughing as he watches the circus massacre.

Cut Bruce shouting, “I’m Batman!”

Removed Chase calling for Bruce and a shot of Nygma watching the massacre on TV.

The sequence of the death of the Graysons has the sound drowned out for a dramatic effect, as the music plays out.

Faintly added Jack Napier’s line, “Do you ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight” over the shot of the silhouette of the killer.

Removed the car chase sequence between Batman and Two-Face.

Added an establishing shot of Wayne Manor at day to transition to the deleted scene between Bruce and Dick.

Added the deleted scene of Bruce consulting Dick over his pain and anger towards Two-Face.

Removed Bruce’s line, “Sounds great. Thanks.”

Recut Nygma brainstorming names to trim away “Captain Kill.”

If it’s possible, it would be great if someone very talented with VFX could digitally remove Jim Carrey in Riddler costume standing in the background of Two-Face’s lair before walking into the scene.

Removed Riddler’s line, “KILL THE BAT! Sounds like a good idea!”

Cut Riddler talking about Batman’s depression, as well as his mocking cry.

Lightly trimmed the Riddler describing Two-Face’s lair.

Removed the laundry karate scene.

Removed the casino robbery scene.

Added the deleted scene of Batman getting tricked into where the crime is taking place. Added a shot of the Batmobile from earlier that was removed from the chase sequence. Riddler and Two-Face drive off afterwards.

Moved the scene with Dick asking Alfred about the door to the Batcave has been moved prior to Bruce watching GNN.

Removed the shots of Riddler and Two-Face taking turns using the Nygmatech box to allow the panning shot of the public’s intelligence being drained to play out as one long uninterrupted shot.

Removed Dick’s, “Now!”

Removed the shot of Dick waving at Alfred.

Cut Chase’s, “Rage, violence, passion,” as well as the kiss.

Cut Dick trying to pick up girls in the Batmobile.

Personally, I think the definitive iterations of Batman were the Animated Series, the Dark Knight trilogy, the Arkham games and Matt Reeves’ movie. However, this is a discussion that should take place elsewhere.
