I know a lot of people are pessimistic about this announcement (and rightfully so for various reasons) but I would like to stay somewhat hopeful that some good may come of this.

Regarding the Disney castle intro replacing the 20th Century Fox intro…Disney did make this for Tron Legacy

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

Yeah, just had to throw it out there :P

Up, in my opinion, featured the best, most emotionally moving 5/10 minutes I've ever seen in my life.

... To avoid going to off topic, Ady (or anyone closely involved in the project) is there a chance that we'll get a "Workprint" release soon, just in case? I know it wouldn't have all scenes finished or anything, and a temporary audio track, but that still is way better than the project just disappearing with a cease and desist...

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

From Ady on Facebook:

It is a dark time for Star Wars fan editors and will most likely be the end of the revisited saga.........

As you have probably heard , Disney have purchased Lucasfilm and the complete Star Wars franchise. Disney are well known for not taking kindly to anyone touching anything they own. So i expect a cease and desist notice any time soon. Hopefully this will not be the case, but it looms a lot cl

oser than when George owned the franchise. This news couldn't have come at a worse time as i am nowhere near finishing the house or even being able to start the workroom thanks to my finances running out due to extra work i have had to do. With Christmas coming up along with the new arrival of my gorgeous grandson on the 27th October, there is no way i can restart work on ESB:R until after Xmas when i have paid off a few of the bills. I'm now preying that the bad news doesn't come my way at any time in the near future, hopefully never.

So i think we may now need to prepare for some bad news :(

I actually really like the coloring of the droid in that model. That would be A LOT of work to recolor them all that way, but I think it would have a lot of impact. Menacing red eyes would top that off nicely as well.

Something else to consider is the fact that TPM misuses nature when setting tones. Why does the droid battle/break into the capitol all happen on a beautiful sunny day? Where are the ominous clouds? The distant roar of thunder?

I understand that it's not needed... but in the OT, every environment (with the exception of Endor) really helped set the tone. Endor could've used a lot more shadows and a clostrophobic, wandering aimlessly in the woods type feel.

I also think that opening technically needs to be reworked... but that opening RotS battle on bluray finally convinced my girlfriend that our HDTV had been a good investment, something even Avatar hadn't been able to do.

It is visually stunning, which IS a common theme in Star Wars. It took the shoddy cgi and digital techniques used for AotC and (mostly) perfected them. It's hard to remember it now because everything is so overpopulated with cgi and modern effects techniques, but the PT really did push the limits of film-making to the same intensity that the OT did. (Ignore how annoying Jar jar is, and consider the breakthrough that he was). The PT simply lacked the storytelling that had been an equal part of the original package - otherwise this opening sequence would still be viewed as brilliant.

besides Luke already used a trick to survive when he walked the plank.

Speaking of Luke walking the plank... is there anything that can be done to make this look less cheesy and simple? Perhaps showing a quick shot of Luke's feet falling towards the Sarlacc and making his ascent into the air look slightly more force propelled would work. Or make it look like he was pushed further off the plank and had to struggle a little more when grabbing it.

Also, it would be a lot better IMO if Luke pulls his lightsaber to him with the force as opposed to a lucky, slightly awkward catch.

I expect to see Luke pulling off a few new tricks to show his strength as a Jedi. Especially since the Ranchor scene is a basic, physical battle. When I see the the barge scene, it amuses me to think that the only thing Luke really learned from Yoda was how to do some of his signature AotC flips...

An idea I had for ROTJ:R.

Wondering about when they make their way from the battle of Sarlaac and the not forgetting the Droids line. It has been talked about before whether Artoo could end up using his rocket boosters to glide across to the skiff after he knocks Threepio into the sand below. Perhaps there could be a trick where Luke uses the force to carry him aboard or something just to eliminate the slapstick effect?

That's actually a really interesting idea.

Part of what you have to remember is that fan edits gain their "legality" (even if it is in a gray area) through being an active criticism, by providing what it SHOULD have been.

If you forget the prequels were ever made, and go back to loving the OOT... can you honestly tell me that a Prequel Trilogy should have been made, with the intention of always watching it after the OT? In my head, that makes no sense. When I'm given a 1-3, I expect to watch it before 4-6.

With that in mind, consider the amount of effort Ady has and will continue to put into these edits. Truly, almost anything is possible. Why wouldn't we strive to fit the PT to the OT so that 1-3 are able to come first without screwing anything up? And on Occasion, give the OT a tune-up - George has been changing things to try and match continuity, so Ady's "criticism" of these films is trying to show how that continuity should have been integrated.

I struggle with the idea of removing Skywalker because we have:

Padme Amidala

Jar-Jar Binks

Qui-Gon Jinn

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Mace Windu

Ric Olie

Nute Gunray

a whole bunch of characters who only are referred to by last name and title

... and Yoda because... well, he's Yoda.

It doesn't feel right to me to only ever hear "Anakin".

When he comes looking for his mom in AotC... "Mi boscha Shmi" sounds awful without Skywalker at the end.

I don't think you even hear Luke's last name except once in ANH... I just don't think it's "given away" nearly as much as people are suggesting. I think there is just enough there to get you curious about it. Personally, I like it that way.

... Leave Anakin to die on Mustafar.

Padme's funeral.

Yoda goes to Dagobah.

Emperor/Vader/Tarkin looking at the death star (change that to be Coruscant or something else)

Roll credits.

We lose... NOOOOOOO! and the scenes with the twins. Secret, for the most part, preserved. Where's the cool stuff?

Not showing that Anakin lives, and showing Vader at the end even adds to the deception.

I know this is WAY too far into production to make this suggestion... but I had to offer it anyway :P

Have you considered using Dolphin to capture the game in amazingly-well upconverted 1080p glory?

I've seen some pretty impressive upconversions:

Objectively, that is pretty true. Were they to flee Naboo in the Falcon (and we'd never seen the OT), it wouldn't stand out to me in the slightest except seeming slightly shabby for Royalty.

On the other hand, were Han and Chewy to fly the Queen's ship, it would have been great. A sleek, silver ship that blends in and reflects is perfect for smuggling. Now that I think of it, considering the fact that that ship would mirror the things around it, why doesn't it appear black in space?
