"Star Wars is the most overrated franchise ever."
Time

Star Wars has nothing on Twilight here.

Twilight books are simple, telling a sometimes enjoyable story, but are generally very weak attempts at literature. Not worth the hype it got, picking up all those lost Harry Potter fans looking for the next big thing.

The films are nothing short of awful, and I'd rather watch The Phantom Menace 5 times in a row than have a Twilight Marathon.

So... most overrated? Not even close.

Star Wars: Episode VII to be directed by J.J. Abrams **NON SPOILER THREAD**
Time

I think the reason Trek fans don't know what they want is because they are a more fluid fandom. There is so much more material available to them that often, each fan has substantial preferential differences. Maybe they liked half of this series and season from this series, and only a few episodes from this series.

Star Wars fans generally match up in more polarized groups because rather than receive a lot of material, we've mostly just gotten rereleases of the same material with some sort of superficial alteration. I'm sure that if Trekkies were limited to the first 6 Star Trek films, and saw them go through the same things we've dealt with, they would know exactly what they want.

To be honest, if the PT hadn't been such a let down, Star Wars fans would probably be even more united in their opinions.

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)
Time

Hey Harmy,

Just clarifying - will the bluray release of 2.5 feature differences from 2.1, or is it simply the addition of menus and extras?

If there aren't any changes being implemented, I was just wondering if you would release a 16 GB m2ts. I've been waiting to show this off until it got its highest bitrate encode, and since the the full blu release is still a ways off, I thought that would be a good in between for now.

Love everything I've seen on this project, what you've done is amazing!

What are your favorites? List 'em 1-6

I owe it to my 12 year old self, Frink. He still goes nuts every time Yoda pulls out the lightsaber and starts flipping around.

RotS (though L8's Dawn of the Empire more specifically) tied things together and I always get a calm, complete feeling after I'm done watching it.

ANH

RotJ - Better sense of comradery, easy to relax and watch, while Empire requires more focus.

Empire

TPM - Can't stay awake through this.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

I actually hope that Ady renders the finished audio/video in a lossless format, and sets it aside on a dedicated hard drive. That way, all he'll have to do is pull it back out and re-encode it depending on the specs for the latest home media format. Revisited will be in its final form when released at 720p, so the only way to see improvement at that point will be increasing bitrate and better compression techniques.

Had that been the case for ANH:R, we might all currently have access to an AVC High-Bitrate bluray copy. Resolution might still be at 480p (or 576p), but I'm willing to guess it would have improved upon the already beautiful and amazing DVD-9, complete with a 640kbps Dolby track, or perhaps even DTS. ;)

Boston Marathon Explosion(s)
Time

I'm only in my early 20s... has the past year actually been way more destructive with all these evil acts happening, or is it just the fact that I'm starting to tune into the news more? Dark Knight Massacre, Newtown Massacre, Boston Marathon Massacre, not to mention the stream of shootings here in Seattle lately...

Prayers for everyone who was there, and their families.

The Unofficial Complete REVISITED SAGA Ideas and Random Discussion Thread

Trying to wrap my head around the cloning idea. Can honestly say, I did not see that coming at all.

Technically, cloning is "the ability to create life". Perhaps this could be what Palpatine tells Anakin in RotS, in a way that manipulate him without ever truly lying. And if, as many believe, Anakin is the product of "creating life" then perhaps Anakin is actually a clone of Palpatine...

Finding some old footage of McDiarmid, and implementing it as the Ghost of Anakin would tie that up rather nicely in Jedi ;)

See - it's stuff like this that makes me genuinely excited for PT:R. If you can dream it (short of starting from scratch) I'm sure Ady can find a way. I'm almost thinking people might actually learn to love these films after all is said and done, and I couldn't have ever even imagine saying that before reading some of the ideas here, along with the few hints Ady and his team have dropped...

Just a thought - Ady could create multiple versions of RotJ. With Bluray capacity, there's not as much in the way. Traditional ending or controversial ending.

I know that it isn't Ady's intention to match these films up with the ST, but as a fan of Revisited who is also hopeful for the ST I would LOVE it if, should he make changes that don't mesh with the ST, he released a "revisited canon" and a "standard canon" version...

In regards to the WDTV Live above (and any other device people have struggled with) look into purchasing Mezzmo. It is by far the best streaming server I have ever used, with amazing transcoding capabilities tailored to each device, updated constantly. I have a Netgear NeoTV Max that has AWFUL firmware support, but works great running Mezzmo. Despecialized played flawlessly :)
