STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time
by the way, i'm going to kill the current torrent,
and start again with the 'fixed' version
or the .iso...once its ready..

update:
i'm checking my files now, and while i did go into all
the menu options originally to make sure they worked,
somehow i skipped over the deleted scenes..and the multi
angle ones....you're correct the menu comes up and the
disc/scene stops.....so somehow an error was introduced
along the line......i'm not sure where though, as being reported
the file sizes are consistent with the ones i got, so i don't think
they got corrupted there...very puzzling...
=====================================

second update
-----------------
i unpacked the original rars->iso

and am now burning the .ISO file directly to see if that works..

i think what might work is this, take the files you have,
create an .ISO

i'm nuking both torrents that are up, and replacing with the .lSO
file torrent......if you get the new torrent, point it to your own
files, and if all goes well, only the small subset of changes
will be fixed on your files...

SORRY AGAIN FOR THE INCONVENIENCE...

ok,

everyone,
i've come back to check up on the issues mentioned here..

got your message adywan..

i've had 0 issues with the files, and with the menu/etc..
------------------------------------------------------------------

1 here's what i did......i downloaded all the original
rar files from the newsgroups

2 ran par on it to check for errors, came through 100% good,
so i did NOT run the fix on the files..

3 ran unrar, to create .iso

4 unpacked .iso, and burned with nero burner..

5 repacked it as a torrent , and added fix in the dvd-rom folder..

in no way, did i touch the files, alter them or change them..

i'm viewing the dvd on my computer now, and will double check..
the original iso file..

sorry to adywan, and to all those that got it....

i honestly had no problems with it or burning it..

will get back to you shortly..

How to extract BTM lost scenes?
Time
ok,
i have these 2cds right next to me, and have
tried playing them under windows xp with
the compatibility set to windows 95, and they
barely work..

i'll try 98..but i don't know..

has anyone else got them to work..

also, does anyone need the files, i'll be unpacking
and looking at those shortly..

(i know all the deleted scenes have been converted,
so we probably don't need those)..

thanks..for any advice..

ok,

maybe you’re a newbie, like me who is reading about all this fantastic
stuff on the board, and can’t find it…it’s pretty overwhelming itsn’t it?

anyways, to help alleviate that, and share all the amazing works,
and projects…i’m starting up a ‘rarities’ series of files…

definition=‘rarity’ something that is rare/hard to find/etc…

now since 90%+ or more on this board probably already have
all of these, this post is not intended for them, unless they
misplaced their copies, want better versions etc…

a couple of guidelines from me:

  1. files will be in xvid/AVI -(some with AC3, some without)
it all depends…why? why not DVD/ISO/etc…

because those FILES ARE HUGE, and for the casual/semi-caring
person, you’re not going to get a whole lot out of bootlegs/
8mm / mono soundtrack versions etc…i’ll explain further

also, if you really want the full dvd,you have several
options 1) request from someone in the thread 2) find it
on http://www.fanedit.org

  1. each collection however, could fill 1 single layer DVD-4.7Gigs or so,
however you can choose whichever files you want…and make your
    own collection

  2. i’ll be posting these via torrent sites (demonoid-private, and
    mininova-public)…and maybe rapidshare if there’s a demand…
SORRY NO NEWSGROUPS…i can’t be bothered with them…

the reason is that its more efficient to put together a ‘collection’
of files, rather than hosting each at 1 time…we’ll see how it goes…

so post your requests here, and we’ll work on it…

This is B*llshit, there isn't a faster way to get your data then through usenet! Simply because it uses the maximum bandwith as agreed with your provider (if you have a good usenet provider) I got this baby in 40 minutes from usenet to my HD (20Mbit), you will never get this speeds from torrents or rapidshare.......

ok, since you started this, i'm just going to post my rebuttal to you, and that
will be it...i'm tired of telling you people (and that includes all you
other 'newsgroup' groupies)...I'M NOT AGAINST NEWSGROUPS,
but THEY'RE NOT FOR EVERYONE.....how do you think i got it in the
first place?????......

i have a 20mbit down/5mbit up connection from COX internet service,
and yes, i'm on 24/7 constantly uploading/downloading stuff..
so it's not like i don't know how to set things up...

by the way, i easily max out my download rate from rapidshare..maybe YOUR
account is being limited, ever think of that?or maybe YOU don't know how
to setup your torrent software to get the fastest speeds?

picture 1 of when i started downloading from the newsgroups:
note the the starting date/time : 5/15/2008 11:04 pm
(got the .NFO later)..

http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/5176/swep4news1yi8.jpg

(and yes, i have about 12 versions of star wars ep4 on my removable hard disk right now!).

By the way, the downloading stopped, and died out near the end,
so i had to go back and redownload a whole bunch of parts later..
wow, that was fun (sarcasm).

note : each piece took about 20 minutes to download

finished time.. : 5/18/2008 1:20pm (due to redownloading parts)

http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/4794/swep4news2wa7.jpg

wow a whole 3 days, boy was the quick [sarcasm] (actually it wasn't that
bad)

look, i don't have time to fake these pictures, and sit here debating
with a bunch of you impatient people....fine, your so leet you can
get it in 1hour!!!! good for you!!!!!! i'm happy.....but are you sharing
it out?????? THATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TORRENTS AND
NEWSGROUPS!!

STOP COMPARING APPLES TO ORANGES., the only reason i keep
bringing up good/bad comparisons, is because there's a lot of
questions about how to get this release...

ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.......................and thanks to all
you newsgroup people, i will NEVER post files in the newsgroups
due to all the issues...torrents first, and then rapidshare, so
don't ever expect to see anything from me there..

negative1,

On the NTSC DVD-9 that you torrented (thanks again), has the fix already been applied?

erikstormtrooper,

no i haven't applied the fix, because the original files worked fine
for me..

however, i kept the fix in the ->DVD-ROM in case you feel
you are going to have issues, and want to apply them.

i heavily suggest, using the ability to burn to a virtual drive,
or use the 'test burn' facility found in some software (NERO)
to make sure the image is fine before burning..

i'm very disappointed in the state of DVD Dual Layer burning,
this should not be that hard....the media has been out for quite
some time, and the burners also....maybe the media companies
want to make it hard for people..

but then again.....i don't know of ONE SINGLE PERSON that
has ever used CD-RW consistenly...and trust me i've tried
using, but CD-Rs are so cheap, whats the point? [just
as a comparison to technology that should be mature,
but isn't]..

Shows that I will download this DVD9 in 1hour and 52 minutes. This could never be done with a torrent.

please don't ever use the words 'could never be done' in an statement like
that...

i have a 20Mbit downstream setup, and the newsgroups option was
one of the slowest most painful method i have ever used to get files..

rapid*s*h*a*r*e is about a million times faster for me(ok, maybe slightly
less)....

[sarcasm] i don't care how many (elite) people on here use newsgroups, yeah, i used them 'about' 15 years ago...i'm sorry but that antiquated old method+hokey religion is no match for the fancy torrent software (and a blaster) out there now...
[/sarcasm]

i have download huge torrents at 1.5-2Mbits max speed,=a few hours, so getting huge DVD files is ENTIRELY possible given enough seeders/peers, and a good connection..

in fact, right now i'm getting the 47gig 1080p version of a certain
(ahem) OT right now......and it should be here in a few days..i think
it would take me several weeks using newsgroups, if i could even
find it there....

maybe i should post screenshots from the endless amount of time
it took my newsreader to get the files...

to each their own..

my aren't we impatient people !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(spoiled kids need to get off MY LAWN TOO!!!! back in my day we had 300baud
modems, and had to swap floppy discs to get the data
on the other side, and dont EVEN talk to me about
punchcards either!!!)

there, i feel much better now..

I think you misunderstood me.

When I talk of doing the FX the 'wrong way', I'm referring to sticking some CGI in a scene that had none and doing nothing the surrounding frame. To me, that sticks out and is just distracting. Subtle (and not so subtle) changes in context will be perceived, but if done 'right' won't detract from the viewing experience. This is what Ady has accomplished with ANHR and will most likely achieve with ESBR.

i agree with most of what you said..

but it still jumps out me (holograms, ship movements, updated graphic
displays, et al), and i HAVE NOT watched the originals inside out...

anyways, i gave the revisited version to my parents and brother to
watch....and although they enjoyed it, you're right, they didn't notice
the changes, until they went to the trivia track, and checked out what
was done......credit to adywan..

tron is a great example of computer graphics that were way
ahead of their time (anyone done an edit/update of that!)

anyways, back on topic...

back to 'empire strikes back'....i've only seen it a handful of
times also (less than 10), and i have seen the SE on dvd, laserdisc,
and once in the theater...although i enjoyed it more than 'return of
the jedi', and not as much as 'star wars'...it was always a special
movie for me......so i wonder how much the changes will impact
the movie..

-minimizing boba fetts role? (in this movie, and in jedi)
i don't think you can do in one and not the other, won't the
continuity be messed up? as he's kind of critical in this one..

-changing darth vaders human appearance? could be done
subtly

-redoing the emperor (that's a given)

-i'm going to go watch 'building empire' now..haven't seen
it yet....looks very interesting...

i'll probably have to watch the movie once again to get some
more ideas...

Like a lot of people here, until recently I had only ever used torrents in order to download movies. I heard people talk about how great Usenet was, but:

a) I didn’t fully understand how to use it and, more importantly

b) I didn’t want to pay to use it when torrents are free.

However, as no torrent was forthcoming until just recently (thanks for remedying that, by the way, negative1), I decided to explore the realm of Usenet a little further. Ultimately, I was able to download the DVD9 from Usenet without paying a cent, and so, for those of you who wish to do the same, here’s what I did:

just to be clear, you're still paying your ISP, and by the way,
depending on who that is, a lot of them give free newsgroup
access (*or give you a limit to download)....

so if you're going this route, and don't want the hassle of
charging something on credit, cancelling, etc..(thats more of
a hassle to me)...and also people that don't have credit cards etc..

finally, the torrent has been up for all of : Added on Thursday, May 22, 2008

so , its been about 5 full days, and we're at 85% percent..and i expect
in a few more days, when there about 20+seeders or more i hope,
the time to get it will come down drastically..

i know it only took you 1 day to download from the newsgroups,
but you must have a very fast connection, as it took me all of
several days......so it wasn't any advantage to me at all...

i'm NOT trying to discourage people from using newsgroups,

but the LEARNING CURVE is WAY WAY harder than torrents,
(from my own experience of just learning how to use them)..

so depending on how confident / impatient you are...

weigh your options..........torrents still win out:
-----------------------------------------------------
+ easy to set up
+ easy to find
+ light learning curve
- might be slower originally

newsgroups:
---------------------------------
- hard to set up, HUGE LEARNING CURVE for newcomers
- hard to get access (credit hassle, etc if you want to subscribe)
+ might be faster if you have a good connection

What we're seeing currently is a movie produced in 1980 and it won't necessarily look like a film made today. That's the big challenge with FX work on an older film. One could go down two routes: have the FX scream out "Look at me!!!" as Lucasfilm did in 1997, or have everything blend seamlessly as Ady did in 2008 with ANHR

maybe i don't feel as you did,

but all the new effects/scenes/and changes jumped out pretty heavily
to me in adywans cut of ANH (and i'm still pretty much in the purist camp)..

so, i'm not sure where you're coming from...maybe that's why people
are debating additions etc..

unless its a very subtle change, ANYTHING new will stand out
(even colors/scene changes/etc).....

if you're going to add stuff/change things...you might as well go all
out.......like adywan did..

or if you don't, there's always the vintage edits, and real 'preservation'
cuts to enjoy..

to each their own,...

hey everyone,
small update here...

1) unless you are paying a lot for electricity,
or have a very loud computer near you (bedroom, etc)

if your computer is very modern, it WILL have the proper
cooling to leave your computer on 24/7...

i used to turn my computer off when i wasn't using it,
but now, i trust my computer to work constantly..
it's a matter of preference..

more links here : http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=should+i+leave+my+computer+on+all+the+time
(note the first link is very old, and says not too...)

my computer is basically a server,so it HAS to be on 24/7,
from the first day i got it (5 months ago), i've only turned
it off 3 times..1 to reinstall XP after vista wasn't working right.
2 after reinstalling some software....3 after i accidentally unplugged
it about a week ago..

other than that, it has been running 100% with no issues day and night..
of course downloading/seeding torrents is going on

2) yes some of the torrents are going slow right now, since i'm seeding
about 10 of them (including non-star wars stuff, music videos..and
a very cool battlestar galactica 1978-revisited fan cut!!-called the
saga of starworld, with new effects, deleted scenes etc)..

here's the status , as more people join/complete/it will go much faster,
my upload is 5Mb/or about 400k, but i am averaging 200k overall,
with about peaks of 40k-50k per torrent...

revisited
-----------------------------------------------------------
star wars DVD 9 NTSC - up (1) down (66) conn to (28) avg 30k - 79% complete
star wars MP4 - up (1) down (3) conn to (1) avg 10k - 17% complete

purist
-----------------------------------------------------------
star wars DVD 5 NTSC - up(2) down (7) conn to (2) avg 30k - 2 100% seeders
star wars 2CD AVI - up (1) down (10) conn to (5) avg 15k - 54% complete

up=uploaders
down=downloaders
avg = average rate of downloading per torrent
% complete = highest percentage of completion per user..

If you have one, would you be willing to record it for me? (If you use 1-hour mode you could do one side per disc and it would be excellent quality)

sorry, i don't want to get too far off topic,

'the last crusade' was one of the most boring/derivative films ever made,
