Well I DVR'd it and watched it this weekend, and it is made for kids under 8 years old, and I wonder about any of you guys here who are adults and actually like this thing?  Seriously, do you like Pokeman at your age?   The show is a kids show, and lets let the kids talk about it on the playground at lunch instead of on a message board for adults:)

really,

do all your kids shows have people getting killed on them? is it enjoyable for them? death, destruction, dismemberment?

really? wow, you must be pretty indifferent to violence to allow that to be seen by children....

don't let the dialogue bug u. it doesn't ruin the whole show. its all about the clones and the battles! wonder if the next season will be cgi or real actors.

the live tv show is completely separate.

as for the dialogue, she refers to him as 'master'...

maybe someone should actually watch it, before complaining..

ok,

watched the first episode, i don't want to spoil it for those who haven't

seen it....

but i really liked it, apart from a few scenes (very brief involving the

battle droids) the rest of it was great..

i knew yoda was powerful, and we saw parts of that in the prequels,

but here you get a really good idea of just some of the power he really has!!!!

the last part of the episode was exciting and full of action.... ok, onto

episode 2 shortly...

any other thoughts , ABOUT THE SHOW, i mean............ahem..

I thought Jedi wasn't sped up, since it spans 2 discs.

I could be wrong, I haven't watched them on CED in about 15 years.

 you would think so? right...

but nope, since they probably used the same master for the laserdisc

(which was sped up).... this version is sped up too..

i'd post a sample, but i had a hard disk crash, and i'm in the middle

of recovering the files..

Depending on what you mean by "support", since you mention X0, 8mm, and support all in the same sentence, I am compelled to make sure that things are clear:  Unlike the X0, the 8mm Puggo project did not solicit or receive any financial or material support of any kind - (unless you count Boba loaning me the films).

right, of course..

i came here after all these things were done, so im not aware of what was

involved with those projects..

i guess its up to the project leaders to decide if they need funds or not..

that's always a tricky issue.... which is why i am trying to avoid it..

Making our own 35mm preservation--my crazy proposal
Time

update 9/30/08:

ok, the deal is done : star wars english print reels 1,2,4,5,6 will be together.

I'll find a replacement for reel 3, if we need it, otherwise i'm still checking out

the spanish print.

Hopefully all of these can be used for the test, or vice-versa depending on

which one is in better condition.

This should get the ball rolling. I don't think we need to worry about getting

any more source data.

I've started the search for 'return of the jedi', lets hope something comes up.

Where on earth did skyjedi say anything like that? Heh, the more and more you post the more and more you cement yourself as a self-righteous jerk. I'm quite frankly surprised that so many people seriously respond to your posts. Anyone who'd invent the silly accusations you throw at people isn't worth anything measured.

 tiptup,

please don't be so hostile, maybe skyjedi didn't say it directly, but he's

never mentioned them, good or bad..

so i just wanted to remind people that there are other efforts going on to

that should be supported... i'm not asking for money, just moral support.

maybe people respond seriously, because they're the ones that came up with the idea.

i didn't think about it. i told you, i'm new to the whole idea presented here,

because i personally don't have a problem with the SE, the PT, or the dvd's,

since i have them all on laserdisc, high definition, etc, etc.......    someone thought it would

be a good idea to get it on film, and go from there... i'm trying to follow that up..

if it works out, great, we all benefit, even you will ... if it doesn't we'll find another

approach ..... didn't you support the Xo project? or the 8mm transfers? or any of

the other ones? didn't you think they were worthwhile, or did you just criticize them,

and make them think they weren't appreciated ...  i don't know what really happened,

but i was sad to see that they might not be completed..

i'm just starting out, i've been on this board for years, but have only been active for

a few months ..   so if you think that any effort that i'm going to make with my own

time, and thousands of dollars is a waste of time ..   fine , you're entitled to your

own opinion   ..   but why don't you be more constructive, and support some of

the projects that are actually trying to do what this board set out in the first place,

to get the originals remastered in a decent format....

you're welcome to keep tabs on this project, when the time comes,

the board will be open to ALL members here, even the critical ones ...

it's not ready yet, but when it is, i'll let everyone know, and that

way it will be easier to keep track of it.

i know its frustrating when you don't hear much, and its frustrating at

times for me also, but sometimes when you're patient good things will

come out if it.

Puggo Grande and Jambe's documentary that Sky mentioned being excited about have nothing to do with any the LD transfer. As of right now, the LD transfer is the best we have and the best we are going to get, everything that could have been done with it, was done with it long ago. (At least the LD is the best we are ever going to get unless your prohect is successful, which would be awesome, but as lj mentioned, there is no way for any of us to know how that is going, and thus hard to be super excited about. In our neck of the woods, typically no news is very bad news.

So despite the traffic on this site for adywans super duper special editions to make Lucas green with envy, this site has all but been dead since the gout was released in 2006. There used to be a lot of preservation projects, that were awesome. a Couple are in the works here but not that much compared to yesteryear. This site has become a faneditors like forum where people make their own home brew special editions when the original idea for this site was a properly remastered dvd release of the originals in anamorphic.

2 projects i am interested in Puggo grande, and Jambe Davdar's star wars documentary.

Other than those 2 the most promising was the X-0 Project which is now dead, though the thread gets revived like an undead Zombie. and people keep beating that old dead horse like vbangle.

i take it you don't care for the 35mm restorations of star wars, and the empire

strikes back, or the CED trilogy, or any of the other ones in the works?

wow...... i guess i was mistaken in thinking you were interested in the originals..

exactly how many times do you want the laserdiscs

restored, or the GOUTS altered? don't you think there's

only so much you can do going that route?

Making our own 35mm preservation--my crazy proposal
Time

big update again:

==================================

bad week for computers? first adywan... now my main

computer had a hard disk error, and i can't reboot, re-install,

or anything....luckily, all my info is backed up... so i had to

restore everything to get it working again, all software, etc...

i ended up using a new hard drive, and starting from scratch,

so i'm back up after about 5 hours.....

i'm seriously considering getting a quad-core, because they're

cheap now (and i can use this as a backup)...but oh well..it can wait..

on another note, my family was affected by hurricane IKE , so

i've been trying to help them out also....they're ok, only my brother

lost power at his house....

===================================

1) whats up with the website?

--------------------------------------------

don't ask, rob is still busy with work, WHEN he is

ready, we will let interested people know.... i can still update it,

so its current..

2) a personal statement concerning the other films (35mm) -SE-PT

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

as far as the other FILMS that i mentioned into looking into, getting,

MOST OF THE PEOPLE ON THIS BOARD CONFUSE ME,

first you act all paranoid that we'll never get the originals restored,

so we should find copies of them...ok, fine, you convinced me..

now, when i talk about getting the SE versions, and prequels to

do the same thing for them, you question it?

where has Lucas/Lucasfilm, etc, EVER SAID There were going to

be high-definition releases? i've never seen it confirmed ... there's

no guarentee, and why should we trust/wait/be burned again...

I WANT ALL OF THEM ...yes, i like the SE and the PREQUELS, it's

NOT A WASTE of money, since i'm paying for it, and THEY'RE INCREDIBLY

CHEAP and available, i don't want to wait 10 years from now, and find

out you can't get the SE versions or the prequels... or that they will

be selling for mega $$$$$$$

uh..... i know there are free versions of the HIGH definition transfers,

of course, i have several different copies of them, but where did they

come from? who did the work? don't you think it could be done better?

don't you think if we get the process down, we can have all of them?

don't you realize THERE ARE CHANGES from the theatrical versions?

sometimes i'm confused by the thoughts of some people on this

board.....why even question the idea of restoration?

BY THE WAY, i never said this was a priority, these all will come

after the OT is done, i think i've stated that several times now..

this is last i'll talk of these prints ... or priorities..

if you think i'm drifting... email me...we'll talk..

=================================================

3) the 70mm empire strikes back, yes, its still out there waiting, but

since we can't do anything with it right away, it will have to wait,

it might be a really long time, unless someone comes up with a plan..

cool to look at, but that will be about it..

==================================================

4)  HUGE , GIGANTIC NEWS , well at least to me...

last week : 9/23/08   i missed the fedex notice from the day before,

or i could have had it one day earlier.....

STAR WARS (1977) SPANISH PRINT arrived ........................................

31 years after i watched it , i now have a full print of it here, just waiting

to be saved/transferred/watched...........................................................

words escape me..... yes, me..... what can you say? what else is there?

it has the original crawl, (no episode 4 here.....)......i've carefully unrolled

a part of it....... now granted, i haven't gone through it fully, or the other

reels, too many things going on.. the crawl part might be a little scratchy,

along with the subtitles for greedo, but the rest look really good..

i was in the middle of doing scans, when my computer went down,

so i'm back working on them again....

at long last, STAR WARS, you have found a home..

======================================

5) i see someone mentioned that a reel was up for sale,

but i couldn't find it, so i guess i missed out on reel 4 of the

other set i have...... oh well......

the english print will be reels 1 (with the episode 4 crawl), should

be getting it next week, reels 5, and 6...... the seller keeps putting

them out one at time...i can't do anything about that,.. however

its working out cheaper for me... i paid a lot for reel 6, but the other

2 were cheap, so i guess the price will even out over all of them..

i'll try to hunt down another reel 4 to complete this... the scans

from reel 5 looked really really good...

=============================================

6) the most important news concerning the transfer:

------------------------------------------------------------------

it will cost about US$2000 or more to get an upgrade on

the equipment to get the transfer done, since it's not a negative,

that's fine, we'll do a test, i don't know how with how many reels,

and i can't give you a timeframe... it will get done...

a more elaborate upgrade for equipment/sofware will cost

about US$10000 or more, and WILL NOT BE DONE unless the

tests are satisfactory....

no idea whether we will do 2 different transfers of the full spanish,

and separate ones for all the other reels or not.....

from another thread : http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/query-converting-RF-to-RCA-video-audio-signals/post/331633/#post331633

well,

been doing a lot of captures:

========================

ep 4 star wars- 95% done

ep 5 the empire strikes back- 95%  done

ep 6 return of the jedi- 95% done

heres a sample of images from 'star wars'

http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/2384/swced01sak4.jpg

there is a speedup issue to make the movies fit on the discs:'

2.54% for star wars, 3.33% for the empire strikes back, and 1.51% for return of the jedi,

not quite pal speedup, but noticeable..

--------------------------------------------------

i would like 3 versions of each - 1) raw uncut footage 2) 'fixed' footage with all the missing

gaps/glitches fixed 3) time corrected version with correct audio

lets see how it goes..

here's a 7 minute preview of episode 4:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBtPDAbAkPE note the opening and crawl have the dropouts every so often..

the second scene with the ship members smuggling themselves is much much better.

I'm still working on this. I bought a PDI deluxe card for capturing. Problem is, the video and audio is out of sync (it was in perfect sync with my other capture card so I don't like this at all). But the sync seems to be constant so it should be pretty easy to fix, if you know what the delay is. I have a pretty good idea what the delay is by now but I would like a second (or third+) opinion. So I uploaded a fragment of Leia talking to Darth Vader (link below). It's a seperate mpeg2 stream and a wave file so pretty easy to load in virtualdub mpeg and to play around with the audio delay. Can anyone help find out the audio delay?

 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GRCG9AXS

-300ms, but that delay could drift over a much longer video,

you can't tell with this one... (it could be -270ms or -350ms)..

just a short update, while i'm waiting for the new board to start up:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

35mm Star Wars (reel 5) - english

------------------------------------

looks great, and i'm working on getting the rest of the reels

35mm Star Wars - spanish print

--------------------------------

has original 1977 star wars crawl, should be here next week

i have located the following

-------------------------------------

70mm print

--------------

 empire strikes back (slightly faded)

by the way, i'm not sure but the SE version of star wars was shown in 70mm

for a few days in a theater in oslo (and the print was destroyed after), http://www.in70mm.com/newsletter/1996/47/spektrum/index.htm

details:

Star Wars

22.03.1997

Spektrum, Oslo, Norway

Anamorphic. The 70mm print was shown two days and returned to Lucas Film.

http://www.in70mm.com/newsletter/1996/47/spektrum/images/star_wars.jpg

------------------------------------

35mm prints

----------------

star wars ep IV - SE

empire strikes back ep V - SE

----------------

phantom menace

attack of the clones

revenge of the sith

all of these are in great shape, and only cost about $400-$600

for the whole movies.... i really liked 'revenge of the sith', so i'll

probably get that first..
