<strong>The Clone Wars</strong> (2008 animated tv series) - a general discussion thread

No one likes Star Wars anymore because it's a stupid kids show now.  It would be like talking about Pokemon.  Adults simply wouldn't do it.  Even if you love that show (I liked it before I had kids) you're not going to get into a deep conversation about it.  Same goes for Star Wars now.

thanks for generalizing everyone to death...

there's plenty of adults that want to talk about, and will keep talking about it,

no matter what you think.. i personally think they're pretty good, and will just

keep on improving.

keep repeating this to yourself in a zombie tone... it's ONLY A KIDS SHOW, ITS ONLY A KIDS SHOW..

and then you keep talking about it yourself...

once i get the english print, we'll have to do a comparison,

and see which one will give us better results....

i'll need to get your opinions on what you think...and its hard

to do without visuals, right?

at some point i'll have to post some reel5 eng vs reel 5 spanish,

and same with reel 6 eng vs reel 6 spanish....

anyways.... i guess i was wrong about the 'red' tint... its just more

like a faded print...maybe the beginning, and the part with greedos

subtitles are the only parts affected?

a few more for the road...

stormtrooper shooting!

a good example of the grain, don't worry, all the shots with

smoke, dust, debris look like this.. the motion of the film compenstates for it..

note the sharpness of the laser bolt blast...

so much for not posting scans in this thread again....so why are you still playing with the film scanner?

LIVE FROM NEW YORK, here's david lettermans top 10 reasons

for posting pictures here...

====================================================================

1) uhh,, that was in other threads.. i've NEVER posted them in this thread..

2) boredom, waiting for clone wars ep3 to finish showing, so i can download a copy...

3) the esb35 site STILL IS NOT UP

4) my computer hard drive crashed with all my scans, and i had just started

    working on the spanish print

5) it's not a film scanner, its the hp scanjet 4050.....(yeah it has 35mm adapters,

but they dont' work well), i had to reinstall it, to make sure it works..

6) i actually bought another scanner that had an attachement to do film, but it

didn't have an power adaptor, so i bought that, and it still doesn't work...

7) because i don't have anything better to do on a friday night (and never really had)

8) got inspired by the puggo grande 16mm clips

9) because i've been putting it off for a few weeks

and finally the last reason

drum roll............................

10) so i can go back, and delete all of them, when we start getting

legal threats from Lucasfilm !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

maybe its just nostalgia, and nothing more...

(and i'm half serious about most of those)..

Are those the raw images or are they denoised and color corrected if so what does the film actually look like?

If that is the true color then you have a very good print, but it looks overly bright so i thought it was done in processing, whatever.

skyjedi2005... no these are not the raw images... there's noise, scratches,

hairlines..... etc... but i haven't gotten far into the reel, so lets keep going..

this is what i've put up

===================

- no grain removal

- no noise reduction

- yes, there is major color correction going on....

- and yes, i bumped out the brightness too much, by overcompensating the blue,...

that needs to be toned down....

i'll post some raw pictures..... oooooh.... there's so much more to see...

ok, lets move onto other subjects..

[star wars spanish print - reel 1]

opening crawl - yes its the original!

no episode IV here...... by the way,

the first part of this film, i guess

including the scrawl was spliced in

from another source, and might

be slightly lower quality than the

rest of the film...........we'll see..

[***** NOTE : yes, there are some focussing issues as always,

i have to keep remembering the settings for the scanning...

- also, some frames do HAVE BLUR in them, relax, its supposed to be there

- you will notice grain, yes grain.....  this is obviously a reproduction from another

print.... so it is evident, and was probably in the original...

- yes, it may not seem the sharpest, like my previous shots from reel 6 of the

english one, but that's ok, we will have duplicates of all the reels, except 4...

- there is a red tint of course, but its not that bad....

- all images are scaled down from the original 2k, 24bit, 2400dpi settings..

- the aspect ratio matches the HDTV version...i hope..

- color correction is my basic guess, not related to anything else.........

*********WITH THAT SAID, FEEL FREE TO COMMENT !!!!! ******************

I meant to your pinnacle pctv hd stick.

oh, yeah, i should try that again...

but honestly, the low quality of the source material

is not really worth the effort of trying to get more out of it..

if it was a laserdisc, then yes, i would go to a much better way

of preserving this..

CED was better than VHS , but lower than Laserdisc, so i don't

think there's a whole lot more, the MPG captures are pretty huge

as it is, and there's plenty there, to master to DVD once i get it going..

i'm in the middle of recovering my files from a disc crash, so once its

done, i can get back onto this project..

thanks again..

i found a vcr, that someone was getting rid of, for free..

went home, hooked it up, figured out something about switching to

to channel 4... and it works,we have video...

Then I gotta tell ya, it should work without the VCR as well (which is good, because the fewer electronics you have between the source and computer, the less noise you will get.)

The LD player should be outputting at either channel 3 or 4 (there might be a switch on the back of the player). Connect the RF cable to your Pinnacle, and try those two channels.

actually, the problem is not hooking up the CED player to the TV,

that works fine,....

my video capture unit only has rca inputs, or s-video..

i would have to buy a modified CED player, with outputs..

but for now, it looks like the issue was the disc, and not

the player..

Are you really that ignorant? Seriously... the "tribesmen" from Raiders, the Indians from Doom, and the South Americans in Skull? What about the Chinese people in Doom and the middle easterns in Raiders? Man, go do some research on the people's actual cultures and get back to me.

You really call that racist? That is sad. Most people would not see it that way. In foreign media, you'll find exagerated depictions of Americans. Fair enough. I can see how real Indians may take offense, just like Americans get offended when they see how they are depicted or seen through others eyes.

As was mentioned already, Indiana Jones is NOT a documentary, hopefully people are not dumb enough to treat it like one and expect to learn anything real about the world from it.

Maybe the inaccurate and stereotypical depictions in the film could be considered ignorant, but they sure are not racist.

i'm of asian descent, and i had no problems with the depictions..

of course it was a terrible movie, so it was pretty much a moot point..

i'm sure those of german descent probably didn't care for the constant

depiction of nazis..

Dude, we are on a message board, please lighten up with the 'people take things way too seriously' babble.

As for forgetting these movies after the original, did you buy the 'Boxset' in 2003?  When it came to DVD, you couldn't buy just Raiders, or just Temple of Doom, or just Last Crusade, you had to buy them all or nothing.  So as I try to forget about those movies, the only way I could watch the classic Raiders of the Lost Ark, was shelling out 70 bucks for the Indiana Jones Trilogy Set:)

actually i bought the boxset for my parents, copied it, and made

a stereo mix, since there was only a surround sound version on it..ughh..

now at least you can buy them all separately, and just buy the first part

separately..

You should have just wrote, 'more news about the next Indiana Jones movie.'  because not everyone wants to see more sequels.  Temple of Doom was OK, Last Crusade was a rehash of Raiders, and Crystal Skull was an utter joke.  Some of us feel that the Indy series should be put into the grave and nailed shut.  Although Raiders is still one of my favorite movies of all-time, so if Lucas could put the RIGHT Indiana Jones movie out on BluRay he may actually get some money from me:)

 well,

i could have said, hmm... after 'raiders of the lost ark' came out,

no sequel should EVER have been made, because it will never be equal

to it right?

but life isn't like that, right?(i feel the same way about 'star wars',

the rest shouldn't have been made right?).....

movies, and entertainment are ALWAYS about money,

yeah, some of you think they're art, and maybe some are..

but not these movies, they were made for money, made to earn

money, and made to generate more money, and you think

that's going to stop?  if we're lucky, sometimes it does.... but most

of the time it doesn't, and what do you get? sequels, prequels, spin-offs..

it's not going to stop now, and probably never will..

so you hope for the best, and if you like it great.

if you don't, just ignore it, and pretend it never happened..

some people take these movies way too seriously, and too

personally, which is why they get all worked up when someone

criticizes something they like..

they're ONLY movies, ENTERTAINMENT, nothing else to see hear,

move along, nothing to see here..... (if they did change your life, ie: star wars did for me,

more power to you)...indiana jones, as great as it was, never did..
