We should sue George Lucas.

I just don't see any point for Star Wars or Star Trek to continue.  Star Wars had two amazing movies, one good one, and three debatable ones, tons of novels and video games.  After the prequel trilogy, there's really nothing else to do.

Just because I don't like the new things doesn't mean that I hate Star Wars and Star Trek.  I just love them enough to believe that they should be given the dignified chance to end.

i mentioned in another thread that the Star Wars franchise has generated over US$20 billion

dollars... i'm not sure how much the Trek series has.

but there's no way you're going to stop something with that much financial momentum..

unless peoples interest go away like they did in the late 80's-late 90's..(but even then

there was still merchandise)..

will the new tv show, and live action show coming out, books, comics, action figures, etc

for star wars... i doubt it will EVER end......

trek, i'm not so sure about, they've done a pretty good job of killing off interest in the

series ever since they went overboard with all the spinoffs.. if 'enterprise' hadn't been

cancelled maybe there would be more fans? but i think this new movie is the last gasp

of the trek series..... its possible it might come to an end (but not the merchandise though)...

I can tell by the intelligence level of the posts here that there are very few kids. But you all seem to hate everything Star Wars. None of you seem to like the new MMO idea and Im very excited about that. You all hate the clone Wars and I think the show is awesome. And you all think the orginal theatrical release of the first trilogy is the end all be-all of human exsistence. (that is not meant to be snotty)

I suppose at the end of the day Im looking for a like-minded community to share my favoriteist hobby ever with and I cant share with you becuase anything post 83 you hate.

please don't generalize us, as 'YOU ALL' ...... if you look hard enough,

you'll actually find people that do like those things... [i know for a fact

there are several people that like those things, if you read the threads]..

if you don't look around and see that, then aren't you being just as judgemental as you claim

the others to be?

The most godawful sequel?
Time

time to add:

---------------------

madagascar 2 to the list..

much like toy story 2 disappointed, and ice age 2, and shrek 2 etc etc..

this had its moments (especially with the penguins),

but putting in all the backstory, and not sticking to a plot this time,

it was just mostly them wandering around for no reason..

the graphics looked good,

but it was definitely lacking the originality of the first one..

i'm not sure any of you have worked in the software industry,

i did for several years..

there is NO WAY that changing an OS, is a simple matter of using

the same codebase, there's millions of lines of code, debugging,

and new hardware to worry about..

it's simple, you want to keep up, upgrade..

if you don't, skip it, or try osx or linux..

I have actually never seen Futureworld, but I have heard about it, was Michael Crichton involved with that at all?

unfortunately, he was not... it's still an interesting movie to watch..

Hmm, I am having a hard time finding any information on this, but it seems his next book was scheduled for release on December of 2008. I am glad there is another book of his on the way, though I'd much rather he still be with us. Since it was scheduled for release next month, I assume it is already finished and in the process of being printed. One last contribution to his fans.

well, i'm going to have to find all the books that he wrote under

the name 'john lange'.. i've only read all the ones under his real

name..

so it looks like i have a few more to read now..

still, its very very sad to hear about his passing away..

Yo, -1,

First off, sueing Lucas was the dumbest proposal anyone has ever made at this site, this is the type of thread that needs to be derailed in a serious way.

And as for telling sky he has serious problems, you are a funny poster to be telling any other poster than he has serious problems.

please point to all my  'off topic' posts, misposted topics, and threads, and i might believe you.. (not including commentary like this...)

i'm not a forum cop, but if you think the title of this thread was ridiculous, why did you

post here?

its just hard to find out new responses in topics, and see its about something completely

different..

the 'search' feature works great on this board,

why not use it? that's what i meant..

westworld was groundbreaking for being one of the first

films to ever use computer generated graphics..

also there was a tv series 'beyond westworld' that came out,

and i've never seen it..(would love to find a copy of it though)...

 from wikipedia:

=======================

Computer graphics

Westworld was the first major feature film to use 2D computer generated images (CGI) during scenes showing the point of view of the robotic gunslinger. The first use of 3D CGI in a feature film was Westworld's sequel, Futureworld, in 1976.

Information International, Inc., better known as Triple-I, created the digitized shots of The Gunslinger's point of view for the movie. According to Turner Classic Movies, some of the shots took eight hours to render completely, and many tests were made to get the right look.

crichton was way ahead of his time..

are there any authors out there that i should look into?

i don't want just techno-thrillers (clancy), or miliatary stuff,

i want someone that writes about cutting edge or current technology..

Bond 22: Quantum of Solace
Time

ok, finally watched it..

daniel craig really is killing off the bond franchise..

i didn't like casino royale, and this didn't improve craigs acting either..

yes, the stunts were great, i'll give it that...

but the story was subpar, the acting overly dramatic,

and off course there's always the terrible henchmen that cant hit the broadside

of a barn with a machine gun that always miss bond..

to the predicatable plot twists, to the boring climax...yawn..

what happened to this franchise???

i know, i must have been the only person that actually LIKED both

of the timothy dalton versions... although sean connery could never

have been replaced...

maybe they'll replace daniel craig, and try it again soon with someone else?

or maybe they should just let the series die off with whatever dignity (if any)

that is has left..

Idea: Custom Star Wars Original Trilogy DVDs
Time

i'm sure plenty of people have done it already

by making their own custom sets, (especially

with the laserdisc rips -> most did the whole

trilogy, and now using the Gforce filters)

but since we really can't share them here,

*(no custom DVD's are allowed, according to the rules)

what's the point?

also, more people are probably just interested in the first one,

compared to the other two...(my opinion)..

finally what alterations would you take out

of the GOUT, that would make it different?

(audio mixes?)

cool, i finally got this version.....

very nicely done...

i like this cover artwork also;

although the video could use some work,

i'm taking the video from the GOUT-g force script,

and mixing it with these 3 audio tracks to form

a new hybrid.......

GOUT image stabilization - Released

well,

i finally got through my first encode of 'star wars' completely with the

gforce-309 script.... it looks great!

yes, i had to use some deinterlacing here and there in the final

version, but it still looks good to me... took about a week of encoding..

i'll post some comparison clips shortly..

thanks again g-force, now i'll work on upscaling to 720p and 1080p with

the solo21 script, and some more modifications..

I DID try it out and I waited days for a screwed up video. I'm running a Mac with Boot Camp and I can't run my primary OS (Mac OS X) without stopping the encoding. I'm forfeiting my ability to restart or switch OSes for several days just so I can get a messed up result? No way am I doing this again...

i wasnt referring to YOU about this... to the people that want it without helping.. or trying it out..

anyways, isn't there an avisynth for MAC?

i'm running windows, so i can run it in the background, and still work on other stuff..

actually now that i think about this, we probably can't post

it anyways, because it would be considered as a 'custom'

version,

and that's not allowed by the rules?

i think you need to check with mother or jay..

Just...don't go crazy with the fancy stuff, or it'll look like George got a hold of it. :p

Does that mean I could not use rotoscoped CG T-Rex shots from JP in place of the Rancor? ;)

More seriously, this new version needs to be a good balance between "keep it simple" and "make it different", indeed.

in this case, using color filters makes sense, because it adds to the 'mood' of the film..

unlike unintentional filters (blue tint in 'empire', etc) ..

i think its a great idea, don't worry about what people think, be creative...

-1, sorry for calling you a ****wit, that was rude and uncalled for, and I know you don't like swearing, so I should be more sensitive to that. You just get very irritating sometimes in that you try to disagree with everyone for the sake of disagreeing.

I am now going to quote myself, just for kicks.

not a problem, i try not to get worked up over things that don't bother me too much. it's my fault also for being so

confrontational in the first place..

yes, it's good that you were able to get it to work for you.. i keep an older computer

around and dual boot 95/98, because i have software (mostly games) that only works

with 95/98 and i can't get them to work with XP/vista because the compatability modes

don't work well...  i remember that ME dropped DOS real mode, i think, and that caused

me a lot of problems so i didn't care for it too much.

to get back on track (i'm guilty of derailing this thread also, sorry)...

anyways, back to windows 7, i think there are pre-beta  versions floating around the net,

but i'm not going to try them ..... i think in january their will be a public beta including the

new task mananger and more of the features we're reading about...

that's not too far off...... looks like it will be fun to play with..

First off -1, stop being such a ******wit. Thanks. Yes, I can type that with a straight face. ME worked great for me, after years of trouble with 98, ME felt like a great breath of fresh air. It basically felt like a version of 98 that didn't constantly plummet me into the blue screen of death. Also, it was the first one to have the compatibility mode feature, which I really liked, always worked well for me, and I use a lot of old programs.

that's odd, most of rest of the world (including microsoft) admitted that ME was a huge failure,

and there were several major issues with it:

============

Windows Me was criticized by users for its instability and unreliability, due to frequent freezes and crashes. A PC World article dubbed Windows Me the "Mistake Edition" and listed it as the fourth "Worst Tech Product of All Time". "Shortly after Me appeared in late 2000," the article states, "users reported problems installing it, getting it to run, getting it to work with other hardware or software, and getting it to stop running." Even Microsoft acknowledged its unpopularity.

The System Restore feature sometimes ended up restoring a virus which the user had previously removed, since its method of keeping track of changes is fairly simplistic. By disabling System Restore, the virus could be removed, but the user lost all saved restore points.

System Restore also suffered from a bug in the date-stamping functionality that may cause System Restore to date-stamp snapshots that are taken after 8 September 2001 incorrectly. This can prevent System Restore from locating these snapshots and can cause the system restore process to fail. Microsoft has released an update to fix this problem.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_ME

anyways, if you were using windows 98 service pack 2, it was rock solid,

and i still use it today (along with windows 95)...

i'm not sure what hardware/software issues you were having with 98,

but most people didn't have them...and waited for NT 4.0/2000 or XP before

upgrading again..
