Info Wanted: Best source for the Mos Eisley speeder pass-by shot?

Yeah, that's just lots of JPG compression.

Laserschwert said:

Man, I'd love to get my hands on the raw capture of that shot and the fly-by... cleaning up the JSC fly-by for Harmy's version was a challenge, but it might be a bit easier with a higher res source.

Well, the thing is...if/when this project gets released, Harmy won't need to despecialize the Special Edition anymore ;)

There's a lot more left to be done once the 35mm stuff is all captured... thus, for now I only would like to have those two shots, which were two of the biggest SE victims ;)

check your pm... same for Harmy..

Some more film cell images I found on eBay, this time from the first film. These are a higher resolution than the ones I posted before, but lighting is  much more uneven - you can see that the person who took the photos was shining a flashlight down onto the cells, so some parts will look blown out, others look too dark/translucent (and you can often see the texture of the white bedsheet under the cell). Some of the images have similar greenish tendencies to the Jedi1.net scans, others don't.

Leia captured - wow, that's blown out. It looks cold where the light is strongest, but you can see yellow and green and cyan tendencies on the right side where there's not as much light:

here are our versions:

"Secret mission? What plans? What are you talking about? I'm not getting in there!"

Another seller's photo - this one of Leia and R2. Looks too cool?

Vader grills Leia on the Tantive. Again with the odd light source, not sure what to make of this image:

again, some are a little dark..

The -83 rental tape! that is an old one:) Thanks for the trouble. It actually comes very close to the bootleg telecine in color from what I can see, it is pretty much the same on the vintage doc The Making of STAR WARS also. Then I strongly believe what zombie84 already said, that it's probably more accurate or closer in color pallette of the original -77 print in just that scene than the THX/GOUT version is.

Yeah, but still the tape is waaay too light during the whole movie, here's a couple of more examples :

here's our version:

kinda dark..

I think one showing how much was cropped in projection would be good, too, just to show the GOUT cropping wasn't bad at all relatively speaking.

harmy posted this about the theatrical cropping:

That's a really interesting idea. And even more interesting results:

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-PpDwMu_u-ME/TsVcyg46xsI/AAAAAAAABE4/8aZybqIPGHQ/Star%252520Wars%252520Episode%252520IV%252520A%252520New%252520Hope%2525201977%252520720p%252520HDTV%252520x264-DON_25fps.m2ts_snapshot_01.07.13_%25255B2011.11.17_19.48.42%25255D.jpg

And that's only compared with the 2004 master, which is already cropped!

Help Wanted: Where can I find the Audio version of "The Story of Star Wars"
Time

PilotGav said:

Hi all!

I am trying so hard to find a copy of the 1977 album "The Story of Star Wars". I had that as a kid and wore it out listening to it. I can't think of anyting I'd like more than to hear it again.

Does anyone know where I can find it anywhere? I've read that years ago a user names "Scotty Balls" made a great RIP of the vinyl, but can't find that anywhere.

Of course I'd be willing to pay for a copy if it's not available to download somehow.

Thanks so much for any help you can give. This would be such a gift.

Gavin

the previous poster was right, go to lost turntable

and do a search for star wars:

Of course, let's see, a 120 min movie @ 30 frames/s = 12,960,000 frames.

how did you get that?

2 hr = 2 hr x 60 min/hr = 120 min

120 min x 60 sec/min = 7200 sec

7200 sec x 30 frames/sec = 216000 frames

(if it was the normal 24 frame/sec) =  7200 sec x 24 frames/sec=172280 frames

i started a frame reference count for the whole

movie in the technical forum:

------------------------------------------------------------

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/frame-data--star-wars-GOUT-NTSC-widescreen/topic/9567/

only got through the first reel so far, around 27000+ frames.
