Batman Forever - Dark Knight Edition (Released)
Time
Yeah, this sounds really cool! I'd love to see a good fan-edit, and the thought of it being made to be more like the third movie in a Burton trilogy is great. I haven't seen this in a while, but I caught the circus scene, and there's really good potential there. The death of the Graysons was incredibly effective, and Goldenthal's music worked well. I look forward to seeing this!

The legendary "Starkiller Ranch" Thread

I haven't heard from CC in a while, although I haven't been online as much lately to chat (which reminds me, I needed to send him some CDs...crap). He was going to talk to adywan about some stuff, and he mentioned that he was going to be working on some scripts to put out.

I'm really not sure where to go at this point. Was the plan still to do ROTS first? Hopefully SOTDS should be complete by next month, and that will be a help--if nothing else, it could generate sympathy from the Sen--excuse me, excitement and creative energy around here. I'm fairly confident it will turn out well.

Idea & Info: for a Spider-Man 3 edit...

I ask because if it's the latter, you could certainly do a convincing edit erasing the jazz club scene by cutting straight to Spidey in the church ripping off the symbiote, and have his regret over Harry's injury be the catalyst for that.

Or am I the only one dying to see Peter's Ron-Burgundyesque dancing - and now I think of it, basically all of Bryce Dallas Howard being wasted as a blonde bimbo - cut out completely?

If I recall correctly, I think we see him just walking off. I don't think there's any room for using that, although it would be cool.

And, as I haven't seen Anchorman, any reference there was totally lost on me. I didn't have any problem with that or the Gwen Stacy character--although, I'm not familiar with the comics.

I think Sandman had enough information to work in the movie. Really, I would prefer more material with the Stacys and with Eddie Brock. I think the first thing to be cut (or at least repositioned) would be the dancing in the streets scene. After the fight at Harry's place, with the verbal and physical blows being dealt, and the ending of the scene, it was actually rather effective. I almost felt like I got punched in the gut; I really felt these friends falling apart and ripping into each other. And then we're just supposed to laugh at Peter? It's not that it couldn't be funny, but it's placement was just so inappropriate. I wanted to laugh, but at that point, it was just wrong.

Two-Face (A Batman: The Animated Series Movie) (* unfinished project *)
Time
Well, at present I have no software to edit with. I was using the demo of Womble, and I was hoping to be able to successfully test it out with this project, but, as elaborate on above, things went bad. The best thing I have to work with now is Pinnacle, and I don't know how well that will work out, and I really can't explore it right now. I'd rather just purchase some kind of higher-end editing materials. However, if anyone else wants to take this project up, I'd be glad to correspond and outline what I was doing with my edit. It shouldn't take long, it's more just making sure you've got the technical things secure, which I apparently didn't, and if anyone already has experience and the desire to do this project, I'm willing to go ahead and help with the planning. But right now I won't be able to work on it any further.

The Fellowship of the Ring (again) Grading Project 2006

I too liked the look generally of (at least) FOTR. I'll need to see the others again. This is, though, an eye-opening look. The exterior shot of Rivendell particularly is amazing to see what was done. I will say this, though: I saw the extended FOTR today for the first time, as well as seeing FOTR in widescreen for the first time, and I think the Arwen/Aragorn bridge shot is absolutely gorgeous. I don't know if you're planning to mess with that or not, and I'll still be interested in seeing it, but I do think that is one of the most effective places where it seems they may have tinkered with the look a bit. It's just wonderful. I'm interested to see where this goes.

Hey, guys. Sorry I've taken so long. Bad news: I checked out the DVD, and there are some major issues. The picture has horizontal gaps when fast motion occurs, and the overlook is kind of patchy. I used MPEG the whole time, so that might have something to do with it. My Dad said it wasn't doing that when he was making the DVD and watching the edit. Also, somehow, the music drops out for a few seconds at the transition from Part 1 to Part 2. I don't know why it did that. Beyond that, at one edit point, for some reason, the music was pushed over at one point, so it plays over the start of the following scene. I could've sworn it didn't do that right after I exported it. It's really weird. But I can't check the file right now, because the external hard drive isn't here. I'll check it as soon as I can, but this is likely to put the project on hold for a good little while. If anyone still wants to see this very rough and flawed version, let me know, but it is rough.

I'm really sorry. If anyone has any tips or thoughts on what may have gone wrong, I'd appreciate them for future reference. I appreciate everyone's interest, input, and work. Thanks.

Episode II: Shroud of the Dark Side (the TM edit) (Released)
Time
Well, technically you gave yourself until May, last I'd heard, so I don't see how you're breaking any promises, Trooperman. It would be very easy to try to push this now and pressure yourself into inferior work. I've done it myself. Don't strain yourself. Everything will be fine. Just do what you have to.

And, what I heard in the trailer sounded perfect, Nanner! I'd even go so far as to say I don't know if I'd like it as much deeper--but I couldn't say for sure. Oh, well.

Well, in hopes that the DVD would be done by now, I was postponing a reply without having any real updates, but I'll chime in now. I do hope to have it done within the next two weeks. My Dad's off day is Monday, so I'm hoping to be able to make the DVD then. That should work out.

Thanks for the tip, Molly! I'll keep that in mind.

The cover art looks great, Killbot! Thanks a million! Were you planning to make disc art also? And where did you get that picture of Two-Face? It's cool.

I really appreciate everyone's patience and interest. Since this is my first fan-edit, I'm learning a lot of stuff the hard way. In the future, the process should be quicker and smoother. Again, I do definitely plan to do all the Batman: TAS two-parters.

Another thought I just had was the possibility of making an edit for Mr. Freeze, stringing "Heart of Ice," "Deep Freeze," and the movie "Sub-Zero" together. The biggest issues I can see is 1: the way they made the episodes as mini-movies, so there would be essentially three climaxes. However, this could be dealt with by the understanding of the viewers, as well as the thought of a kind of "life-story/quest" kind of movie, so the movie would have the three acts, each with their own climax. The other thing involves the difference in the animation quality (plus the CG) in Sub-Zero, as well as the opening credits. It's possible I could cut around them, though, if I or someone else can't erase the titles. What does everyone think of that idea? I may or may not pursue it, but even so, maybe someone else would want to take it up. If someone does take it up, I must make a serious recommendation for the title: "The Iceman Cometh." That was a working title for "Sub-Zero," and I think it would be a nice nod to that, as well as avoiding the issues of having to pick one of the episode titles, or redundantly calling it "Mr. Freeze."

Thanks again, everybody!

Hey, man. Don't worry about it! My Dad did it for me. It's not perfect, and I'd love to get the software, but it's pretty good (much better than what I could do in Ultimate Paint ). I'm finished with this particular edit for right now. I do need to get some stuff like After Effects, as well as actually purchasing editing software. The concept will definitely be there. What I'd like is if you guys can view it, see what I'm trying to do, and let me know if there are any specific programs or methods to making these things turn out better. As it is, it's a bit rough in some ways. I don't think I'll do Two-Face again right away--I'd probably do "Feat of Clay" next when I get my resources together, and revisit Two-Face later. But I'll definitely be doing them, and any input for future reference would be greatly appreciated!

And, I'm really looking forward to seeing your cover art! But, are your PMs on? I don't see the icon for them.

Thanks for all of your interest, guys! Hopefully the DVD will be ready by the weekend.

Okay, I finished my edit last night (w00t!). Now I just need to author the DVD and check it out. Then I'll be ready to start sending this out. It might take a couple of days, but the edit is complete. It's not perfect (as far as I can tell on the computer--I can't wait to see it on a TV!), but it's definitely got some cool stuff. Just giving a heads up.

Idea: 'Superman Returns - Not the Baby's Daddy' Edition?
Time
I don't think he was in the comics, but I could be wrong. Zod and his posse are super-powered villains, so it's good. Nuclear Man...well, ADM did a pretty good job with him... I was toying with the thought of making a Superman III edit, and I would've tried to get someone to make it so that when the supercomputer boots up, you see something with the word "Brainiac" in it, and/or possibly the Brainiac logo (was that only on Superman:TAS? I'm not well-versed in the comics). It wouldn't be full out awesomeness, but it would be cool just to have that indication.

And if this edit works, then we're gonna need a "Superman II: The Real Boy Scout Edition" to match with it. That would be great.

Yeah, that would be great. I hate that they had Superman and Lois sleep together in Superman II. It's just not Superman. This edit would allow for that to be fixed up.

But even beyond that, now that they've made him Superman's kid, they have to deal with him in future Superman movies. I don't usually have a problem with kids in movies, but we've now had five Superman movies starting with Reeve, and only one villain from the comic books. I would've rather had seen him fight Brainiac and Metallo...even Darkseid (mwahaha) before dealing with a kid. The only thing good I can see coming from the fact that Superman's got a son is that this is now potential to have a version of the Death and Return of Superman, with the son becoming Superboy...maybe? Ehh...

Yeah, it could be tough, but if it's doable, then that would be awesome.

I'm glad you're looking forward to it!

My cousin is dropping Mask of the Phantasm by today, so I'll be able to use the logo. After that, I just need to finalize the credits and export it! I do need one last thing, though. Killbot, you said you're learning AfterEffects? I've heard it's fairly simple to paint out titles using that. Could you do that for the Two-Face title card and get it to me by tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon? Just a frame would be fine, although if you can do that for the whole title card playtime, that would be awesome. I'm trying to do that with Ultimate Paint, and it's...not looking good. If you can't, then if anyone who has any AfterEffects experience could do that, I could really use it big time. If it can't be done, then we may end up with titles over a black screen this time around.

EDIT: My Dad said he might be able to get it to work with Publisher Pro, but if you're still interested in doing the title card even if it might not get used, it's worth a shot.
