STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

after viewing that clip i got to thinking... wouldn't the entire bespin mining colony be shot to crap with lasers? do lasers lose intensity the further they travel? or do they just keep going and going? hmmm, i guess i should read The Physics of the Impossible by Michio Kaku.

so i guess what i'm wondering is, shouldn't there be burn marks all over the place? just one of those weird thoughts.

EDIT: I think I found my answer. duh...

"Properties of Laser Light Laser light has three unique properties. First, it is collimated which means it travels in a single direction with very little divergence even over long distances Ordinary light waves spread and lose intensity quickly.
Second, laser light is monochromatic, consisting of one color or a narrow range of colors . Ordinary light has a much wider range of wavelengths or colors."

Then again, some lighting could be added to the hallway, or some Ridley Scott lighting effects.

Not exactly sure what you mean by Ridley Scott lighting (lack of lighting? lol) but I think this is a great idea, add some sort of flickering light (or would that be too ghetto?) to give some realism (ex. in the hangar bays) when it's an obvious matte. There is a scene in ROTJ which I had in mind.

Like how in BLADE RUNNER or his earlier films where he used smoke so as to shine light through it to create nice beams of light coming into the room. A good example would be the Leon interrogation in the beginning of BR.

aaah yes. that was excellent... similar to some of the James Cameron 'laser' lighting in Terminator and the beginning of Aliens with the scanning machine. I'm down for that if it's pulled off right.

hey ady, ever considered adding the lightsaber interative lightinglike vaderios example

This is so cool! I have seen other saber-on-face effects for luke in Cloud City but this one really sells it! As always Adywan will give the final word but this truly lives up to the hype....amazing

yeah I gotta stick my neck out and say this is awesome. the best part about this effect is that it's the first time you will actually see a reflection considering the other few times you see the saber activated it's well lit, so there was clearly not as much need for it. i'm interested to see the light saber in conjunction with vader's glossy helmet, etc. purely great.

Hey guys,

several pages ago there was a discussion about the duel in the carbon chamber scene. Right before luke falls in, vader does a cheesy lightsaber swipe, I guess to get luke to accidentally fall in the hole... I too never liked that scene so I came up with a possible solution: what if vader does a "force push"? I know Ady doesn't want to use prequel stuff in the originals but I think it really adds something to the fight. I don't like that luke is so stupid he doesn't realize he's gonna fall in. I also think vader is showing how superior he is. The force push would also occur in the middle of a bunch of other force powers (super jump, grabbing a lightsaber from across the room) so it flows well. I made a really crude mock up video where I cut out the swipe and added a really bad photoshop still with force push sound effect. (I apologize for the really bad quality of the edit I've never done one before)

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZOO7J0YM

let me know what you think...

yeah I can't say that that would work. I think Luke falling into the carbonite chamber is his due to his lack of experience. as well, he needs to mind his surroundings... or he prepares to fall in and do so just to let vader think he has the upper hand. either way, it's the swipe that Vader takes that looks goofy imo. If he's not trying to kill him then ok, but it's just so... kaiju.

- I noticed a continuity error with Luke's hand and the lightsaber at 1:40:39 and in 1:40:41 and cutting back to 1:40:44 (using the 97' HD theatrical rip Adywan made as reference). He places his hands on his hips (on what might be called an 'establishing shot') at 1:40:41 and then when it cuts back he has his hand back on his lightsaber. the easiest way to explain it is right when he turns on his lightsaber to battle Vader at the end of the film. I doubt there's much we can do about that. just seems strange.

- also, when Vader jumps down after luke says "you'll find i'm full of surprises" the floor looks like it's about to break. cheap plastic flooring? any way to fix that?

- when Vader swipes his lightsaber at Luke (so that he falls into the carbonite chamber) it looks a lot like he's trying to miss. i wonder if this is intentional or not. i would imagine it was because i suppose Vader doesn't want him dead. but it just reminds me of a 50's horror movie where they're stumbling around trying to make it look as if they're going to hurt them but the actors don't actually want to harm each other (i.e. holding back).

could I maybe be included in the credits as 'mumbles' (without the underscore) even if for voting to keep boba fett's original voice? :) i could always try and find more stuff to suggest but i don't want to step on adywan's toes.

EDIT: I see my screen name in there. thanks so much! :) I wouldn't mind giving my full name but who wants to read some giant name with a nickname in the middle? ;)

I think this is getting to a point to where things are getting over analyzed. Some of the things that are getting pointed out have never ever bothered me, like the situation mentioned above with General Veers and Vader. No offense to you guys, it's just seems like your suggesting edits that are really unnecessary and make no sense. I think that alterations would be warranted if there is direct flaw with the FX or part of the story itself. The General Veers/ Vader scene mentioned above is not flawed technically or story wise, it was filmed that way.

No offense to you guys, but this is getting ridiculous.

I didn't really suggest I wanted it to be fixed, I was just going off topic to point out how funny I found it.

yeah I can't see why we would fix that to begin with. it's great. you can practically see the beads of sweat off General Veer's brow in that scene. I wonder if that's the closest another guy got to Vader. he must have a personal space bubble outside of his literal ...space ...bubble (meditation chamber)

Hot Rod: as for Han's hair, I'm gonna take a stab at it with the scene in the space worm's stomach where he's blasting the Mynocks. After the second one frightens them there is a shot where he looks to have considerably less hair (albeit while wearing the mask) than he does in other shots.

I've always thought how funny it is immediately after that line.

"Set your course for the Hoth System. GENERAL VEERS! Prepare your men."

The way he spins around to find Veers standing right next to him is funny. If Vader had spun around pointing at Veers thinking he was further away, he would have knocked him right over!

But that just might be me...

no you're not the only one. I still find that part HILARIOUS... it must have been hard for Vader to see him with that helmet. just as much as the automated targeting computers and how close they come to Wedge's face in A New Hope. i always imagine it hitting him in the face. it's the little things...

Also, you don't have to have much of a dirty mind to get this one. When Yoda tells Luke that he'll take him to "Yoda" he beckons Luke and there needs to be a pause. Just a little longer..... it sounds so gross the way it is. Let's take out the period between the two sentences and this is how it sounds.....

Luke: "You know him?"

Yoda: "Take you to him I will. Yes. Yes. But now let's eat (no pause) come. Good food. Come. Come."

Does anyone else find the sick humor in this or is it just me. Kinda reminds me of the "You came in that thing? You're braver than I thought" line.

yeah, a guy I knew used to say that Yoda line every time he answered the door to his place when I came over. it was disturbing to say the least, but I couldn't see ol' Oz making that kind of joke... leave that up to people like us. ;)

all i can say is i downloaded it using uTorrent 1.7.7 and aside from having problems burning with IMGBurn (which I've had before with a prior computer with the exact same media)--it burned perfectly fine using Nero. I never had to use the fixes or anything that were included, just the ISO. make sure it closes the disc.

I tested it by mounting it with Daemon Tools Light and playing it prior to burning but it seems most of the problems are after burning.

thanks. i don't know how much we can trust stuff on imdb.com but i'm willing to bet just as much as something posted on wikipedia. all that being said, i think empire strikes back special editions were the best of the 3. they weren't overly offensive to my fanboy senses. thanks in advance to Adywan for continuing work on such a great project.

i'm a firm believer that the classic Boba Fett voice is the only voice... the new guy sounds way too Aussie for me. you could always just make alternate audio tracks for people who prefer the new one. stick with Jason Wingreen's voice.

In the first place, "the new guy" is a Kiwi, not an Aussie. In the second, what's wrong with his accent? The reason Ady's restoring the old voice is because Morrison's performance isn't up to scratch. In the third, Jango's son is a clone, although I liked the idea that the Star Wars: Reborn guys were floating around of conflating the two into one character. I think Ady's solution, however, is going to be treating the voice of Jango to sound more like Boba in AOTC when he gets around to it.

yeah i just caught that. oops. my bad. insert "Death Proof" quote here... or Flight of the Conchords--whatever you're privy to.

I have the OUT versions, just figured some of the CGI in the special editions looked too fake or forced to some of us. It's not very important and I don't absolutely hate it, but just reading a list of a bunch of mistakes I never noticed tells me maybe this won't be the easiest one to fix up after all. Ady will do what he feels is right, even though I'm sure his intentions are to maintain the Bespin stuff. alteration of Fett's voice and Skywalker's scream at the end of the special edition were the only real beefs I had with the special editions.

i also noticed Darth's 'Alert my Star Destroyer to prepare for my arrival' line. my brothers thought i was crazy. god, that was so out of place! sounded nothing like him. hopefully "You're lucky you don't taste very good." will be restored in the Dagobah scene.

gotta say those open window shots DO have to go (Bespin).

this is a pretty good basic reference, albeit an obvious one.

yeah i just watched it tonight.

A-MA-ZING. wicked job! I'll bite my tongue on the Yavin battle's tie fighters because everything was so great. I can't wait for Empire... but since time = quality... take all the time you need. ;)

no problems as far as menus or errors at the trash compactor scene--but the "that's me!" subtitle is still under harrison ford's name at the credits. thanks for posting the torrent -1.

I haven't been following with all the fixes, etc. and was hoping someone could help me out.

I downloaded the ISO file from a.b.starwars and was about to burn with ImgBurn, but after I hit the "write" button, I got the following error:

Optimal L1 Data Zone Start LBA: None Found! (VTS_51)

This image has not been mastered correctly for burning onto a double layer (OTP Track Path) disc.

None of the cells meet the 'DVD-Video specification' criteria for a potential layer break position.

Do you want to continue anyway?

I assume this isn't the same thing as the thing noted in the NFO file. Is there a fix for this? Or can I continue anyway? Thanks. :)

EDIT: after going through a few pages of search results, I noticed this issue has been dealt with. I tried applying Adywan's fix and created the ISO. Unfortunately, I get the same error as before. I even tried using PgcEdit and doing it manually. But the resulting ISO still gave me the same error. :( After trying Nero, it fails before even burning to the disc. :(

I am having the exact same issue with IMGBurn only I continued (because sometimes these errors don't affect the play) and the burn process crapped out around 15%. I'm burning at 2.4x onto a fujifilm dual layer but I downloaded negative0ne's newest torrent from Demonoid. then again i never did anything with the fix and fail to understand what is meant by 'extracting the iso file' other than having to decrypt it (i.e. iso -> file mode in DVD Decrypter...)

p.s. I believe DD is shortform for DVD Decrypter (predecessor to Imgburn)

i'm also not understanding why there's a thumbnail file inside the .iso

EDIT: nevermind, I burned it with Nero and as far as I can see it's working perfectly! thanks! I'm going to sit down and watch it from beginning to end but just for the record I'm pretty impressed by all the work that went into this Adrian!

ok, first off... i wasn't complaining. i was merely asking a question. i just can't see how adding extra footage (+ additional ending) to the R3 DVD with a 5.1 track would be smaller than the original R3. i just wanted to know if the original source was dual layer or not. i have nothing against anyone here since i'm fairly new to the site myself. i joined this forum specifically for this release. i just wanted to know more about how it was compiled... if there were multiple passes in the encoding that's fine. i just can't see how RidgeShark would release a DVD5 compressed version of it considering he used an HD copy of Army of Darkess and the R3 DVD to put it all together.

either way, i'm happy to have it. i just wanted to know the specs on it and apologize if you see it as 'complaining'. i've been waiting for this ever since it was mentioned so forgive my questions... i guess i got impatient waiting for RidgeShark to come back. it's no big deal.

Army of Darkness - The Primitive Screwhead Edition (Released)
Time
ok, so i asked the guy who posted the torrent on piratebay (tygerbug) and he's being a dick about it:

"Stop posting this everywhere.

I did not shrink the disc down, and I don't think it
was shrunk, no."

i'm asking a simple question and i get "stop posting this everywhere" and it's not compressed to fit on a DVD5. what a bunch of crap. the original length of the R2 director's cut with everything but the film stripped is about 6GB. i know because i tried to make a DVD5 of just the film. he was clearly given a compressed test-copy. from what i know this version has branching with the alternate ending. either way, i ask the guy one question and get a "no". which is hilarious considering it's 4.7GB... the exact size of a DVD5. i never showed the guy any disrespect and even thanked him for the torrent and his time... man, where is RidgeShark?

everyone else is freaking out about seeding, i ask a simple technical question. when the answer is clearly "i don't know". the exact reason releasing someone else's work is a problem is that you don't know the details about the source and can't answer any questions. and i'm pretty sure none of us would sell anything that's a fan-edit anyway. well, i'm sure i'll be getting some big nasty e-mail back because i asked a question.
