I've always preferred the 'Bring my shuttle' line, and have been firmly against the SE additions during the Cloud City escape; but I have, too, always found the cut away from the 'Bring my shuttle' scene to be awkwardly abrupt. So I did prefer the additional shot of Vader walking to a Cloud City landing platform; I felt the visual pacing was improved here. One possibility could be, to keep the 'Bring my shuttle' line and the shot of Vader walking to the landing platform, but paint out his shuttle so that the landing platform is empty (this would be easier, and perhaps more elegant and in keeping with the cinematography of the film, than inserting the Falcon and extra takes of Vader looking towards the Falcon). The score would also not be negatively affected by this, either; I think that would be my ideal sequence for this part of the film.

If the were a way to change the line to "PREPARE my shuttle".....then no painting out would be required at all. Just a thought.

Put it this way.

I've never really liked ROTJ that much but one thing I did latch onto in 1983 was that one fleeting mention of Leia/Luke's mother.

It created possibilities that the mind could play with (like the words "the Clone Wars" did until we found out it was just an excuse for cut and paste CGI battles).

You get enough of a scenario to think about and nothing more.

Leia is clearly meant to be old enough to form lasting memories but too young to hold significant details (2 to 4 years old).

Knowing that Leia is hidden from Vader and Palpatine those must have been a dangerous 2 to 4 years, full of peril and the possibility of drama.

If ROTS had killed Padme in an interesting way which explained why Leia remembers things differently I wouldn't mind surrendering that potential.

But as she does hardly anything in the film other than obsess over her child murdering/spouse abusing greedy, needy traitor of a husband and gives up the will to live after giving birth to two vulnerable children. I am more protective of that Jedi moment.

Indeed I'm more protective of that Jedi moment than anything I can think of in the PT as currently seen.

Couldn't agree more.

Ok Muddy heres another combination...

How about Anakin Ghost first and then Yoda and Ben join him?

That might work really well that Anakin wants to see Luke again and that Ben and Yoda show up with him after he appears.

I also think that honestly this could make it less sentimental and more heartfelt.

Seems like you're just keen to change it....to ANYTHING other than what it is now. It works just fine as it is.....but before or after....I see it serving much the same purpose as it does now.

Do you think that a good side ghost of him is the redemption?

I don't think that is the redeeming moment... It is when he says "tell your sister you were right about me."

And saving Luke

The ghost is like I said wrapping the neat bow around it all... If anything it's over sentimental but I think messing around with it has made it a lot worse.

The redeeming moment is when he destroys Palpy at the cost of his own life.....everything afterwards is just wrap-up.....but it IS needed as it is the end of Anakin's story. We see that he gave his life.....and then we see that in doing so he earned himself a place in the afterlife. It's more than just a neat bow....it's a part of Anakin's narrative.

Yes intentional, I am just wondering what it would look like if the ghosts all showed up at the same time :)

rather than fashionably late to the party.

Putting Anakin in the middle might also help convey that he is with them... A little re-arrangement... It's worth playing about with just to see what this does.

I disagree......Anakin SHOULD show up late....makes it seem less like he got an easy admittance to the after-life. He had to pay with his life and we are left to wonder (even if only for a few seconds) if even THAT is going to be enough. I'd argue the same for putting him in the middle. It shouldn't seem like he's just one of the group....he SHOULD be a bit of an outsider. They all look at eachother and smile....that's enough.

The problem with the ghosts is that they fade Anakin in afterwards he should be there from the very start with Ben and Yoda if he appears. It was a bad idea and comes across as an after thought either they all show up together or only Ben and Yoda.

He's a new arrival to the light side of the after-life.......having him fade in after the others creates a slight moment of "oh, I guess he didn't make it".....and then relief upon finding out that he has. It's not an afterthought.....it was very intentional.

.... It also makes you wonder how much footage there is locked away somewhere.

There's loads of it we've never seen....and probably never will. But, these editdroid demo discs seem like a good source for this kind of material if anyone knows where to look........apparently each disc had different footage on it, so while ours contains takes from Luke and Yoda's conversation on Dagobah in ROTJ, other discs will have shots from completely different scenes on them. Keep your eyes open for any of these floating around, they're a potential gold mine for OT SW footage that you probably wouldn't get to see otherwise.

Just found out about that EditDroid 1984 Demo laserdisc from the Revisited Facebook page. What's the latest news on this, did Ady get it?

Quoted from FB:

An update on the rare ROTJ laserdisc:

Ok guys, thanks for all your offers of donations towards getting this. We CAN get it now but we do need your help in getting it. Someone has stepped in and purchased it but we have to reimburse him for the cost. This has helped us on many fronts: Not only did it guarantee that some collector won't come along and snap it up and we would most probably NEVER get to see the unseen footage on this disc but also we only have to cover the cost of the purchase and i'm not going to get hit with all the import fees (which would have been around $200). Once i can get my hands on this disc then i can get it transferred to digital format for all of us to enjoy :)

But this isn't just about the laserdisc. The Han in Carbonite parts i paid for, but haven't received, has also caused a financial problem. I had been funding the remaining part of revisited personally through the credit card. Well the HiC parts were purchased through Paypal on this card. Today i received a letter from Vanquis ( the card company) saying they have blocked the card because we didn't agree to the hike in interest charges they were going to apply to our balance and future purchases. So this has now caused major problems. When paypal refunds me the money it will go directly back on the card, so that means no more cash left.

So this latest donation drive is not just for the laserdisc but also to help get the last section of ESB:R completed.

We haven't got very long to try and raise the funds to get our hands on this disc so please, we are grateful for any help you can give.

Donations, as usual, will be through paypal just by clicking on the paypal button on the right hand side of this page:

Sorry folks another problem in the command center.

The line "launch Patrols"

A totally different line is mouthed a couple of seconds earlier after leia says "we have no choice" and the audio line is never actually said it is inserted audio.

Does anyone know what the line is Rieekan was actually meant to say via an unedited script???

I guess this has been there since the original theatrical release.

*edit*

He does actually say launch patrols it's just totally out of sync

Rough mock up of what I am trying to say about command center.

1st original and then repeated rough audio edits.

Not really that hard, well apart from designing all the bugs, building the Cg models and texturing then the rigging and animating of each creature separately (just think how many times that needs to be done with a load of bugs without AI software)

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

Personally I liked that it made the battle feel bigger....but I found myself missing the radio chatter...the whole narrative seems to stop during that part. The initial TIE reveal also seemed too big and showy. It kinda just screams "HEY, this is a new effect!". The music might be to blame here, not sure. I didn't mind seeing a wave of them coming in....but it made little sense for them to be coming from so far off...towards the DS....would have made more sense to see them coming FROM the DS...over its surface. I didn't care for the Imp March being added (much prefer it showing up in the 2nd OT film.......using one of the most iconic themes for something so wimpy as TIE fighters just seems wrong somehow. I love all the added TIEs....the battle seems way more epic now....but that intro shot (for me) is just too much.

Several models are currently being built, for different parts of the film....and while the items currently being worked on aren't the last of the model work, the model work IS the last of the video work......once all models are finished, shot and inserted into the film we will have arrived at "picture lock" and then Ady moves on to the audio side of things.
