I believe i saw somewhere that someone suggested giving all the characters frost breath during the Hoth scenes to give it a realistic "in a cold place" feel. Do you think Addy will add that?

Well, he did have a video test with it using the method explained by VideoCopilot.  And if I recall correctly, ultimately he said the work wasn't worth it, especially since it didn't look realistic enough for him.

EDIT: Saw it was just answered in the post above.

Half answered. I have no recollection of Ady saying he had decided against that. So thanks for reminding me ;)

I believe that it was Ady himself who was flirting with the idea of adding it in. Not sure what his decision ended up being.

Boba Fett Spin-Off May Put a New Character in the Armor
Time

Read this rumour a few days ago, and I love it. I have doubts that it will prove to be true (as it is just too much of an overt insult to Lucas), but I would really like for it to be. If it IS true though I would really hope for it to be the beginning of a movement.....possibly fan edits being taken more seriously, leading to Disney understanding the profitability of doing special eds of the PT or perhaps even a redo sometime after Lucas' death. Probably a pipe dream....but one I'm very fond of nonetheless.

...I think fan edits should be fun and exciting ways of changing the films so they are different and new...

It will come out this year hopefully but the team need encouragement to reach the finish line.

First off I'd like to point out that I think you're as entitled to make suggestions as anyone else. Secondly, I'd like to explain why your first statement is wrong (at least for THIS edit). Revisited does not seek to "change" things just for the sake of being different. I think that Revisited is a bit unique in that it is part preservation, part restoration, and part fan edit. Most of the effects work being done are updates to old or shoddy looking effects that never quite did the job they were intended to. A few changes ARE being made here and there, but in most cases (and this is especially true of ESB:R) they are being worked into existing shots rather than making all new ones (and when new shots ARE being put in they are almost always a replacement of an old shot and kept as close to the original as possible while improving or fixing the problem that existed). There is a desire to update things slightly, but all while attempting to stay very true to the original film. This will probably not be so much the case on ROTJ:R, and slightly more ambitious suggestions will most likely go over quite a bit better once we get to that film (as long as one DOES keep in mind the undercurrent of preservation and restoration that this project works on).

As for needing a "push" towards the finish line.....I can assure you that we need no such thing. We're as anxious to get this edit there as you are to see it arrive ;)

I'd almost wager that they intentionally chose not to name Fett in the film....possibly due to not being able to find a place to slip it in without it sounding too contrived or cheesy. There are multiple points at which they COULD have named him, but don't. For example at one point Leia asks Lando what is to become of Han (after Han's been tortured), to which Lando replies: "He's being given to the bounty hunter."

Nobody else looks like Fett, nobody sounds like him (hell, when he walks you can even hear spurs though he's not wearing any), and his role is completely clear.....he's not in any way a "grey area" character. I don't see why he needs any name clarification......"Bounty Hunter" is just fine....in the same way that "Blondie" works perfectly well but is not anyone's actual name, just an assigned nickname due to the mysteriousness of said character.

It's the same problem with Qui-gon not being named until the second act of TPM: a character this important and that has this much impact on the plot shouldn't just be some anonymous person. Even if he is mysterious, we should still have something to call him by instead of just "that bounty hunter"

I couldn't disagree more.

i really hate in the bluray version during the battle of hoth that the dish gun when it fires at the walkers leg just vanishes.it doesn't show the leg light up anymore to show it took some kind of damage.adywans version doesn't show this either.still hoping he puts that back in.

The flash is there in both the original (GOUT) and the blu-ray version. It's just that they recomposited the flash for the SE's so it looks a little different.

Definitely one of the things I thought would be improved for the SE, but never was. It's always bothered me.

And assuming Ady has only one model of the generator, that means he has only one chance and one take to get it right.

Not to mention the model in question is destined to be a part of the give-away for fans who donated to the project....the winner of this particular piece might be a little disappointed if all they got in the mail was a ziploc bag filled with ash and tiny bits of burnt plastic.

so much going on, and now if you look out the cockpit windows it makes more sense ...

Visual continuity goes a long way towards telling a believable story. Even in the ESB days (long before they started phoning things in for ROTJ) you can see how things were just sloppily thrown together......the battle of Hoth, while iconic, is a great example of continuity being more or less ignored in the editing process.

These films are about a Galactic Civil war.

They are fun for us because they are exciting and the characters are engaging.

Once again I refer to the briefing in ANH.

The pilots look worried, Han frequently shows signs of disbelief at what he is hearing.

It's all very pessimistic.

This makes the final battle more intense, more emotionally realistic and more enjoyably exciting for the audience.

If the situation is less tangible and the characters can't be bothered to take things seriously why should we?

This makes the pay off to the action less exciting, cinematically it malfunctions.

Is it against the rules to randomly quote for truth? I might have necro-quoted as well. Oh dear.

An entire trilogy's worth of battles fought by/against droids or clones. So they die. So what? Sigh.
