I'm off to bed, here's hoping theres a whole new batch of donations for me to check out when I get off set tomorrow evening. To all those who donated, many thanks.....to those who intend to, or do so in the next little while.....I'm sure it helps alot, and anything that helps bring this to our screens is greatly appreciated by myself, and I'm sure many others as well.

Personally I don't care either way.....I like what the man does with Star wars, he needs money to do it....so I'm more than happy to try and help out when he's in need.......and do my small part in trying to encourage other like minded fans to do the same......so I sayest again....who's next?

Edit: Ripplin......from one fan to another, thanks

Ady,

Donated. Not much, hope it helps.

Good on ya Sketchrob.....now come on..........who else? Yes we've passed the initial overdraft payment, but I'm sure theres a million things the money could be used for. The fried motherboard for one.....ain't gonna get far without one of those. It would be freakin awesome for the next 10 or so posts to have mentions of donations made in them (not specific amounts, just a yeah or nay)

Ok then.....lets get donations started to cover this bump in the road. Come on everyone, lets work together and get Adywan what he needs to make this go away. I'm gonna send along about half of what he needs, I'm sure that the rest of you can come up with the rest and then some.

Theres also nothing wrong with inviting friends to the facebook pages, and to these forums as well.....any help is good help. Donation on its way as soon as this is posted.

Edit: Oh, and I won't be asking for it back ;)

I know you said you are not accepting any suggestions for the revamp edit, but I want to know your guy's opinions of these 3 ANH duel re-edits.

This one I like the best. I like how it mixes the "Battle of Heros" at the beginning with the classic ANH theme at the end, this one feels the most fitting in ANH IMO.

I really like this one. I feel like the music fits it very well, which actually surprises me because I was always one of those people who thought that this particular scene sounded best left alone. Whoever cut this together did a nice job.

Meh, sans music is still the way I likes it......

"Sometime this year" is the new date.

Perhaps I'm misremembering, but I thought Ady mentioned recently that it was likely to be toward the end of this year.

Yeah....he wanted a chance to check out the blu-rays before releasing the movie....in case there was anything on them that he could use for ESB

There was an interview he did somewhere that asked if he regretted any of his changes, to which he said yes. I may be leaving some out but the ones I remember were adding music that hadn't originally been in the film (which I agree with 100%) and the torture droid needle arcing electricity (which I dont care about either way....I didnt fall in love with the idea, nor did it bother me)

Its the tracking that would be the hard part, and that seems like a lot of work for something that literally flies by. I could be wrong on what Ady thinks though.

Yeah I agree with you that its a tiny detail......it just bugs me that they screwed up the continuity of what WAS a great shot by adding one preceeding it and getting things wrong.

I've got another quick question concerning cloud city......if you dont mind. Theres an establishing shot of leia up in a tower through a window.....this is the scene where she indicates she's worried about c3po.....in the establishing shot of the scene, pre SE, there used to be a pod car lifting off from a landing platform, and its engine slowly came on and got brighter before it flies off.......and in the SE, they've actually added another shot of the pod lifting off from the platform, but its engine is already on, and THEN they cut to the original shot (or a new one made to look like the old), a few seconds past its original start, meaning that the engine no longer comes on, its just on. It was a tiny detail, but I always liked it......are you restoring little things like that, or no?

No, i won't be restoring that effect. tracking the ship in the previous SE shot and replacing it with a new ship which replacing background elements that are all moving would be a nightmare, all for just a small effect. Also, the building position problems between the SE and the older matte will have to stay. I made a new matte and placed the buildings/platform in the correct position and boy did the shot looks bad. The composite just didn't look right at all. It has been slightly tweaked, but the positioning remains almost the same

Any chance at simply having the engine fade on from full off, so that it flows into the next shot, showing the very end of the fade?

I am glad someone see's "It's a Trap" the same way I did. You missed the part where Peter freaks out and says he sick of the cute s#*t and makes the Imperials dig their own graves!!! ahhaahah awesome!

In addition to the ewoks riping apart imperials etc... I liked how they handled the sarlacc pit battle with Luke. Limbs and body parts every where. I hope adywan feels he needs to add this.

The sarlacc pit battle as it stands has Luke using his lightsaber as a nerf bat. Only once does it cut through a character (gamorean).

I am liking the new intro idea with the cut to Luke and Vader conversation.

I think the death star II will remain the same. It is pretty iconic as it is and Ady doesn't fix what is not broken. It definetly needs to be recomposited in every one the shots. Especially the opening shot where it tracks with the camera.

Matticon

Yeah, the Death Star II is just fine the way it is....but theres a definite lack of believeable violence and an overabundance of cuteness. Jedi was phoned in, and hopefully Ady does only whats necessary to make it feel like a proper star wars movie

Just watched The family guy ROTJ parody and I was a bit surprised at how bad ass Seth McFarlane felt he needed to make the ewoks. I found it rather interesting that a guy who's intent is to parody the film, couldn't disguise just how much he hates the ewoks......to the point that he barely made any jokes about them at all, and instead chose to just alter their character in the film instead. He even goes as far as making their weapons more effective against the stormtroopers. It was nice to see actual arrow penetration, and spear thrusts that connect. Hell, some of the ewoks even died in battle. Its odd to say it, but its almost ewoks the way I wish they had been done (if we have no choice to take ewoks over wookiees that is). The best change has got to be the scene right at the end where the ewoks are celebrating their victory while a couple of them go around the field of battle, systematically mercy killing the wounded imperials "Braveheart style". Adywan, if you haven't watched it yet, I'd definitely recommend it....sometime before you start working on ROTJ ;)

Personally what I'd love to see is the Cloud Car removed when its lifting off in the SE shot.......or have it much lower....with the engine at appropriate brightness considering the following shot......and then have the original shot with the couple seconds at the begining restored. Easy enough fix in my opinion. (though I AM aware that hours of work would probably have to go into making it happen)

Made a quick time lapse shot of the cload car turning its engine on in reference to my earlier post. The sequence can be seen in this video, at the 1:58 mark: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHwBJuwpD6E&feature=related

The SE now has a different angle on that same pod lifting off from the pad, but its engine is already lit, and then it cuts to this original shot, trimming a couple seconds off the begining of it, which cuts most of the fade on of the engine, but you still catch just a little of it, which makes no sense as it was already on in the previous shot.

yes and no.....it WOULD be a nice touch....but I also miss the old static shot of it lifting off the platform. Only noticed it when I was watching "Building Empire" last night

Heres the shot....go to 1:58

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHwBJuwpD6E&feature=related

EDIT: Actually, just rewatched it again and it makes even less sense than before. Quite obviously they've cut the begining of the shot, the part where the engine is firing up....but they've left in a couple seconds of it so you do see the tail end of the fade on (which really isn't enough in my opinion), but in the totally new SE shot just previous to it, the engine is already on, and is not fading on. So another hack job (albeit on a very tiny detail, but a hack job nonetheless)

Ady...noticed on the ESB:R facebook page that you were contemplating moving release to the end of 2011...did you ever make a decision on that?

yes, i thinks a more realistic goal really. Plus i really do now want to see what's on the Blu-Rays just in case there is anything i could use

sounds like a good plan to me.

no-one's annoyed in the least.......I think some just get a little carried away with details. Once they start looking a little deeper into things, its always very easy to look just a little bit deeper...and then it never ends. BUT...thats just MY opinion. If people enjoy disecting it down to its atoms, then all the power to them.
