Disney's Sleepy Hollow re-edit (* unfinished project *)
Time

Ok, I've come up against a bit of a wall already. I bought a VHS from the 80's or 90's of the Sleepy Hollow segment of this film to obtain the credits sequence and unfortunately the quality is absolute garbage.

Back in '58 Disney seperated the 2 short films and made a new credit intro sequence for the Sleepy Hollow portion of the film, and it is THIS opening credit sequence I wish to incorporate into my restoration. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to exist anywhere save for old VHS copies released between the early 80's and the late 90's, and buying VHS copy after VHS copy looking for a better quality image is gonna be a bit of a gamble.

SO...I'm putting out a call for anyone who might have had their transfered to a more reliable form of media EARLY IN THE LIFE of their VHS tape, OR (and I dont know if this even exists) if anyone has this on laserdisc.

As far as I know, this has never been released on DVD, the only DVD that exists is the full film with the 1949 credit sequence that mentions BOTH films (and is NOT what I want). The opening credits that I am looking for look like this:

Please let me know of any leads on this. Thanks.

EDIT: Alright, this apparently DOES exist on laserdisc, now does anyone have access to a copy or am I gonna have to go out and buy one? Additionally, is there anybody out there equipped enough to be able to transfer a laserdisc movie into a digital file for me?

I'd say it falls between the 2. The story was always paired with another short....but really its just 2 short animated films cobbled together, they even have different narrators. Disney already split them apart in the 50's, and created new title sequences for them, but they cut out the intro....so I'll be restoring the intro sequence to the film, but adding a new Bing Crosby audio intro since the old one makes no sense if the 2 shorts are not played together. So its kind of a re-edit, and kind of a restoration......hard to put it completely in one or the other category

I used to think I was one of those fanboys who knew every mistake and every little technical glitch in these movies, but this forum has showed me that I was never anywhere near that level. I managed to learn a little something about myself....in that, I'm still apparently able to look past many things and enjoy these movies as entertainment. I'd say probably about half the things Ady's fixed were things I had never even noticed before.

Disney's Sleepy Hollow re-edit (* unfinished project *)
Time

Hello all. I am currently starting work on a re-edit of the 1949 disney film “The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr Toad”, in an attempt to create a stand alone version of the “Sleepy Hollow” portion of the film. I will be utilizing the 1958 openeing credits created by Disney when they seperated the 2 shorts and started issuing them independantly from eachother, using the entire opening sequence of library shots from both shorts (removing any of the introductory narration for “Wind in the Willows” of course) to create a nice intro for the film, creating a new audio introductory narration by Bing Crosby (since the original one makes refference to the “Wind in the Willows” short that precedes it) pieced together from Halloween radio shows he did and the original intro for the film, fixing a few animation errors in the film itself, restoring original coloring to scenes where color changes were made when the film was put on DVD, and creating a new end plate for the film that reflects the 1958 opening credit style rather than the 1949 one. I will be making a full DVD with extra features and releasing it for free on the internet when the project is completed (hopefully in time for Halloween this year).

However, there are certain things I lack to complete this project. 1. The original recording Bing made of the introductory narration for the film (sans background music), 2. Any recordings of Bing making refference to Halloween or other spooky ghostly things that anyone might be able to think of, 3. A better copy of the Disney made animated documentary of Washington Irving (the only one floating around the internet has VHS damage and is of poor quality)

I would greatly appreciate anyone who might have a lead on any of these things dropping me a line here to let me know. Thanks and have yourselves a great day.

If everyone is so concerned about restoring the mention of Luke's full name, it might be worth trying to contact this guy. He does amazing impressions, and Palpatine is one of his specialties. There are a bunch of clips of him doing Palpatine impressions... here are just a couple of them:

So is this the final version, on facebook you said it was another rough draft, but on here you say it is the final version?

Ady seems to have a history of tinkering with his final versions. I'd bet on nothing being final until its released and we're all downloading it

Now if someone can find some little people, and make some Ewok costumes, and do some decent gore effects... well then maybe you got something...

It doesn't even NEED to be all bloody....even if they were just shown to be more effective in a fight it would be a definite improvement over "lets hit the armoured guys with sticks and rocks and hope for the best"

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION

New Hope for me always felt quite toned down from the other movies, and in as much as it WAS the first movie, done on a smaller budget, with new actors, I think it SHOULD feel a little more toned down. Its part of its charm. So the added music for me just felt really out of place. Ady made some really nice improvements that I think needed to be made so that the film didn't look ridiculous next to the other 2.....but the music changed the feel of the movie for me. Personally I think that the lack of Imperial March in ANH goes a long way it making the film its own movie, the same way that its appearance in ESB makes ESB a new experience. Each film builds on whats already been made by adding things....to go back and put these added touches in all previous movies just makes them meld together far too much and removes and individual character the films scores might have had

On another note I think the "Vacation Fund" is a great idea

lol. Vacation? What's that? Last vacation i had was in 1996

That settles it.....once the OT is taken care of, I think we should all make sure that Ady can afford to take a couple of weeks off to take the family somewhere nice.

I prefer the original-no-score....the addition of music cheapens the scene especially using prequel music.

I also prefer the no added music option. But I DO like the idea of it being included in an optional soundtrack that could be selected from a DVD menu for those who DO enjoy it.

I never, once, ever thought about how the lightsaber stays on.

me neither.......once I choose to accept the reality of another world or universe, or time, I also choose to accept that there will be some things about it that I dont understand and that won't be explained to me. Do I know WHY Vader's saber stays on when he throws it? No, I don't. I choose to believe he can, and it ends there.

(although perhaps there is some form of entertainment derived from trying to figure out the "why" of things in movies that we enjoy?.....not something that entertains me, but I guess it does it for some people)
