It had been a few minutes, and he does roll into the hallway as we watch him, so yeah, he's be wandering. You expect R2 to just bang his dome against a door for 5 minutes? Naw, he's trying to find a point to use his jets to fly to Luke! ;-)

+10 Geek Points for pointing out the altered hallway I had never noticed before.

-10K Geek Points for mentioning R2's rocket legs.

nope.....my point was...Ady does it well and with consistancy, Lucas just messes everything up and adds new continuity errors.

I had also suggested that people were more critical of the rubber masks in ANH that the ewoks in ROTJ, therefore it makes more sense to animate something that looks a bit fake than something that was more or less fine to begin with.

I mentioned this in the ESB:R thread but it seems more appropriate here... does anyone else find it funny that the article bashes Lucas for making ewoks blink, and completely ignores Ady's version of the cantina scene, not to mention Yoda's blinks for ESB:R?

There are several differnces between these 2 things:

Many of the aliens in the cantina, and Yoda, have inset eyes similar to ours that look like they would need to be moistened, therefore the blinks. Ewok eyes are very external and do not look like they would need blinking to moisten them....very similar to fly eyes (Kinda like the Bith in the cantina...and if I'm not mistaken, Ady didn't make them blink either).

Ady did not CHANGE their eyes, he only added blinks to the eyes they already had.....whereas Lucas changed the ewok eyes completely.

When Ady changes something he does so consistantly, whereas the ewoks (actually only wicket) blink in only one or 2 closeup shots (not to mention the eyes are totally different in these shots as well thus creating ANOTHER continuity error.

Ewoks are ONE species.....so if they don't blink its not that hard to believe...but to say that in a whole bar room full of different alines not one of them blinks its eyes....is a bit weird.

As much as we complain about ewoks, I don't think I ever heard anyone say that they didn't like the design of their eyes (I HAD heard complaints about seeing actors eyes/faces through the costume eyes...but this is an easy fix without the need to completely change the style of eye, and is another matter entirely). In fact, as cutesy and annoying as the ewoks are...I always thought their eyes just a little creepy and cool looking. Just alien enough to keep them from being full on teady bears.

... if it is indeed concealed that Anakin and Vader are one in the same, obviously the transformation scene would have never been seen.

Which would open things up for a much better "Birth of Vader" type scene. More spiritual and akin to a knighting ceremony than the scientific "operating table" scene that we DID get....

EDIT: Obviously Vader would already be partially in costume so that we have no idea that it is Anakin...and the knighting ceremony would just be Palpy formally giving him his Darth name....the "force lift" lowering of his helmet shroud (like in the painting) would be a nice touch though...

I've also been noticing that the ion cannon itself seems a bit shaky....it doesn't seem as locked down as all the other elements in the shot

EDIT: Also, Peter Madlener on FB noticed that at 2:24 in the clip, the Star Destroyer's 4 smaller engines are not lit, and yet at 2:45 they're lit and get deactivated with all the other engines as the ion blasts hit

I like the outline thats been added on the inside edge of the screen....but I'd have to agree that the text makes it look a tad like a tactical display. I applaud the addition of them elsewhere but Vaders communication between himself and a man he's about to kill should be kept simple.

Hey all. Ok, so heres a chance for all those who still wish to help out, to do so:

My 3rd Unit shoot is rapidly coming up, and I'm still trying to save up the cash to rent all the equipment I'll need. To that end I've put a large portion of my old SW collection up for sale on ebay. Here's the link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140729048316#ht_1621wt_1396

100% of the money raised through this auction will go towards ESB:R filming. So not only do you help out a good cause, you get some sweet SW swag as well. Check it out, and Good Luck to anyone who bids!

Cheers!

Having the same problem.....anybody willing to send me a burned disc with this on it? Been looking for this for some time. PM's appreciated....cheers

EDIT: oh and how goes the Muppet Fam Xmas project? I'm anxiously looking forward to this one as well, though having looked at it I can see that it will definitely be a more difficult project than the Emmet one (and incidentally, the uncut version is up on youtube from user DTVzone)

The only thing I didn't like at all, was the lightsaber changes when Vader and Obiwan meet.

To me it's very similar to the Solo/Greedo change Lucas made, because it really changes the character of the character. If that makes sense.

That moment is a great illustration of the Good vs Evil idea and gives you some insight as to how the characters are thinking - Vader ready to fight (evil), Obiwan unwilling and defensive (good). Even after he sees Vader he doesn't activate his - only when Vader advances.

I think that changing that around really changes the characters.

As someone who's defended a lot of the changes Ady has made to people who bitched about them, I agree with you 100% on this one.

This, the torture-droid-mini-lightsaber-thing, and the Ep III music in the duel are the only things I legitimately dislike about ANH:R.  (The added slo-mo at the end of the duel bugs me, but I can live with that.)

Yup, agreed. The slo-mo and music are what drove me to the Purist, but then I found myself caught between the 2 versions. However, the droid needle hasn't been "lightsabered"....its been given arcing electricity. Not sure why people think its been made into a mini lightsaber....

In a way yes......but here's how I see it. Getting THIS excited over something, and so looking forward to it is one of the best parts of life. Its truly a beautiful thing. Its Christmas, or a get together with family, or a surprise party......all of those things that we may or may not grow out of as we get a little older. So to be a part of something that brings that kind of fun and excitement back to something that had lost some of its "shine" its really quite an awesome feeling.....and I'm definitely guilty of trying to encourage and keep it going. Anticipation is often the best part of something, and I for one am enjoying it imensely.

Princess line gone....awesome

Ady's version of the conversation in Ben's hut....Brilliant, one of my fav changes

Added music....not a big fan

The slowdown of Ben's death...didn't sit right with me

The TIE arrival felt a bit over the top, a bit too showy, and it IS true that theres no comm chatter for WAY too long in this bit
