I totally get what Bingo is saying about ceremonial ships, or ships being upkept by organizations or institutions with money to do a good job of it. But the interiors really SHOULD show a little more wear and tear. Everything literally looks like it just came from the factory. Naboo fighters? Yeah ok, turtle wax and buffing every day....but the cockpit interior should look like its been around a bit. Doesn't have to be dirty and greasy....but it should look USED....the metal not quite as shiny, with scuff marks where a pilot would bump into it everytime when he/she gets in or out....upholstery that looks like its been rubbed a little thin in places....some grime or dirt in the harder to clean areas. The interior of every ship looks like its been pulled right from Star Trek......everything is too clean and smooth.

As astonishing as ESB:R will no doubt be, the fun really starts with ROTJ:R and PT:R because what there is to work with incrementally decrease and you will all have to rely on your ingenuity and imagination.

As pumped as I am to be a part of ESB:R....I'm REALLY looking forward to helping out on ROTJ:R and the PT. Those films NEED some work....done by someone who cares about the films themselves as opposed to the toy sales.

I am in no way saying that shooting a film is easy....having worked on quite a few of them, even some of these "big" ones you mention I know firsthand how difficult and challenging it can be. I am simply saying that there is a difference between shooting something fresh and then having all the elements (green screen fottage of actors and background plates and CGI effects all as separate files) and trying to work with and change an already finished product. In one respect one is easier to do than the other....I am not saying films are easy to make.

I was thinking more along the lines of what will be done (or could be done) for the PT but that would be a very cool standalone project. Personally if I had the money I'd be financing my own PT re-edit project. I think Revisited will make them better films, but I think they're so flawed at very basic and intrinsic levels that the only way to make them good or great films would be to reshoot alot of whats there. Change the story drastically, make them character films as opposed to special effects reels (though to be fair I have yet to see the entire Revisited plan for the PT).

LOL.....probably......but not specific to this current topic. I work in film here in Montreal....and all I'm saying is that to mount your own production and shoot from scratch has its own challenges and hurdles to overcome, but its quite a bit easier than trying to change a completed film, adding or removing elements when you don't have the original background plates or green screen footage. Think of it like working on an image in photoshop.....you've been asked to remove someone from an image. On one hand you have a .psd with all its layers, including the subject you wish to remove, and on the other you have a flattened image. Well we're working with the flattened image. This can often severaly limit what we can and cannot do.....whereas when shooting your own original material you're working with a blank canvas.....anything goes.

You don't think people would RIOT if Ady replaced Vader in his first, most iconic scene?

Vader should not be replaced....parts of the costume COULD be (and I don't think anyone would "riot" as it would be just a visual upgrade and not be changing the performance at all)

You can replace fuzzy shots of David Prowse from a distance, but RotS proved NO ONE can take his place.

Actually ROTS only proved that Hayden couldn't act his way out of a wet paper bag (as Anakin OR as Vader)

If there WERE work being done to fix the matte-ness of Vader's suit in the opening of ANH (and I'm not saying there is) then my guess would be that, in order to preserve the iconic acting job done by Prowse, a new Vader would be shot going through the movements and only PARTS of the costume would be superimposed over the film as it is now (specifically the helmet shroud)

If you want real character development for Han, have him save Fett from the pit.

With the same amounts of love and respect...I find that just ultra cheesy. Way too "happy ending". Han used to be a bad ass....but by ROTJ he's become all but useless.....it would be nice to see him both settling down with Leia, but at the same time showing some of his former bad-assery...

He's the guy who delivered Han to Jabba.....and Han was never able to defend himself....I've always wanted to see Han get his revenge in a fair fight......personally that is the importance of having him die...to MY eye anyways. It adds to Han's character arc......and in a film where mostly all he does is bumble around its sorely needed.

I have no problem with him being there....it always just seemed to me like Jabba had taken him on as one of his cronies.....its not difficult to see why a gangster would want his own personal bounty hunter. He was always one of my fav characters until he was ruined by EP II.....but I think he SHOULD die in ROTJ.....BUT not from an accidental tumble into the sarlaac.....would have been nice to see Fett and Han duke it out.

Somehow there would need to be allusions throughout the film that Palpatine may even have a backup apprentice, just in case.

A great reason to remove the "Always 2 there are" line.......I hated that they limited themselves that way. Would have been much cooler if Vader, while not only wiping out the Jedi, also had to wipe out the Sith they happened to be fighting, or just other random Sith in different parts of the galaxy. Imagine a Jedi VS Sith lightsaber battle going on, and all of a sudden Vader shows up to carry out order 66. You'd have feeble alliances between Jedi & Sith while trying to defeat Vader.....then turning on eachother again when opportunity is sensed.....and of course Vader ultimately wins the day. Scenes of Vader killing other less powerful Sith in an effort to be the only one left (an early start on balancing the force)...etc etc....

I've had a few thoughts on how to NOT kill off Padme AND keep the mystery of Vader's identity until EP V, AND keep the awesome funeral scene in ROTS. BUT before I lay them out here I'd just like to preface this by stating that this is NOT Ady's plan, its just a hypothetical reorganizing of scenes I've come up with. I don't know Ady's full plan for this yet....we're concentrated on ESB right now.

Ok, so, start with the Anakin VS Obi duel as usual. Obi wins, and leaves Anakin to burn. Cut the scenes of the emperor finding the torso formerly known as Anakin (perhaps leave his arrival in, but leave it ambiguous that Anakin is still alive) (or make strong suggestions that he is not...perhaps have Palpy just stand there looking dissapointed with what he sees)

Cut to a secondary plot line, shot, or scene (can you tell I don't remember the film much?)

Next you either have the birth, or the funeral.....if desired, one could skip the birth entirely...leaving even more secrecy and shock value to the later revelation that Luke & Leia are bro & sis. If the birth IS shown, then obviously cut out the death references.

Cut to more secondary stuff (this is just to allow for passage of time in the viewer's mind)

Now the funeral (and here it gets more complicated). The levitating bed with Padme's body on it would need to be reshot and re-inserted into the shots of it traveling down the walkway. Instead of Padme's body on the floating gurney, have some Jedi robes, possibly resembling Anakin's...or just a standard, more ceremonial, Jedi robe, and Anakin's lightsaber laying on top of it. Film a body double for Natalie Portman walking slowly behind the floaty body carrier thing and just overlay some appropriate Padme face...perhaps even her face from her funeral scene...tilted down, following solemly behind the robes and lightsaber of her dead lover. A tear could be animated running down her face (and this would be the last time we see her, leading very well (I think) into Leia's reference to her mother being sad). As for the lightsaber, you can either insert a shot of Obi picking it up, or leave it to the imagination because we clearly know that he does so as he later gifts it to Luke. Additionally this scene could either be left on Naboo (Anakin had no ties to his home planet after his mother died), OR could be moved to Coruscant...maybe more of a Jedi temple kind of setting or some such....

At some later point one could then show the knighting ceremony of Vader....who at this point would just be another random apprentice (as Palpy has had several already (though I would suggest removing Grievous as he's just bloody terrible....how you decide to replace Christopher Lee with a coughing CG robot is just a complete mystery to me). I don't have access to it at the moment, but I've posted the photo several times of Vader down on one knee, and Palpy force lifting Vader's helmet down onto his head. Personally I run the scene in my head with no real sound, only music...perhaps a muffled "Rise my new apprentice" line thrown into the background just to really sell the idea that this is just apprentice #whatever.

So theres the bulk of my idea. Obviously the scenes would need to be reordered in the film so that this all makes sense...but I think it would be easily achievable with little trouble...even the more difficult scenes are quite short, thereby requiring some greater work, but not much of it.

Yoda was never shown training Obi in any of the films, therefore any reference to that ever happening is EU...which is being disregarded for the purpose of the Revisited edits.....and when Ben said that Yoda was previously his master it wasn't meant as "oh yeah, he taught the 1st year class I was in"......thats just retconning that GL tried to pass off in the PT.

I can't remember what film the line is in, but they outright say that the dark side is stronger.....if someone would be so kind as to point out which film and scene, I'd be grateful.

Leia remembers her mother because she was born after Luke? Because she had a mental connection with her mother while she was dying? Must have missed the scene where they explained that in the film.

As for any of it bothering me...it doesn't anymore. I sleep very well at night. I ignore the prequels, treat them as if they do not exist...and that worked fine for me up until I discovered Revisited....at which point I volunteered my services, joined the team and hoped to take the problem films (1,2,3 & 6 in my opinion) and do my small part to make them better.

As for us being better off just doing what other fan editors have already done...we aspire to do something more than that. If you don't agree with it then no-one can force you to watch any particular version...and you're free to choose whichever you like.
