That IS really kickass......but I'd make even more changes. For starters I'd show the battle going on underneath that first Star Destroyer when the camera first pans down.....otherwise its a huge continuity error for the sake of a reveal. The addition of radio chatter was awesome. I'd remove a little bit of color still......it was closer to what I'd love to see, but still a bit too colorful IMHO (Ep I&II could potentially have a little more color in places....but by Ep III we should start to see a dirtier, more used universe, leading into the OT). Blue lasers would be gone...from the entire PT. And holy hell would I trim out a lot of useless dialogue....even from this vastly improved clip......TPM and ROTS are probably the PT films I've watched the least and man am I ever reminded of why when I DO see a clip from them.....the dialogue is just awful.

I'm totally with you that there should be a difference......but I think they exaggerated the look of it.....of everything. 

no-one is talking about lightsabers......by necessity they are bright and flashy looking......the comment was about ships.

More colorful that the OT isn't hard to do.....and it doesn't have to mean the rainbow light show that was the PT either.

Couldn't agree more. When talking about George Lucas one could say that CG is a gateway effect...it leads to all kinds of other silliness. He seemed to think that just because he COULD do anything on a whim, that he SHOULD. The minute anything was being done in CG it seems like it just became Avatar....pretty colors, just because. There definitely ARE some scenes that called for more color (the opera house for example).....and it IS a time of greater prosperity and luxury, but not every bloody thing needed to be highly saturated in bright colors. The speeder chase in AOTC suffers from this same problem IMHO.....and many of the sets....because they were ALL being extended in CG, only the bare minimum was created in actual physical form....and they took on these ridiculous colors simply because they were being added in digitally at a later time.

I've suggested something like this for a while now....but involving snowtroopers on the ground, disembarked from the advancing AT-ATs as they get close to the trenches.....very small, on the ground, IN the already existing shots in the film....no new shots......making it achievable with CG....possibly only squads of 5 troops per AT-ST (the logic being that the chicken walkers are there to protect the full size walkers, therefore the chickens would have a squad of troops each for protection as well).

It always bothered me that despite the rebels realizing that their fire was completely ineffective against the walkers they stayed and got slaughtered for no good reason. They didn't slow anyone or anything down....the speeders were the only thing making a difference.....no commander would allow his/her troops to remain in a situation where they weren't serving any purpose but were dying nonetheless.

All rather moot though as I don't think Ady is going for it.

Frontal perspective, meaning that the binocular stands precisely in front of the middle AT-AT. This made the walkers look two-legged at some point, because the rear legs were hidden behind the front ones. 

Position of the binoculars, not just by being right ahead of the walkers, but also how it's perfectly parallel to the ground the whole time, while in a more "real" movement the camera should start wrong, rotate a little until the position is right.

Yeah the symmetry of it, I think, is the biggest issue. It just looks too perfectly framed. A general rule in film/photography is to never put something dead center (or what looks like dead center) in your framing, unless you are trying for that specific look.......though I know that seeing the AT-AT pilots somewhat requires a dead center view.....it might help if the walkers behind the lead walker were at different points of advancement.....one a little ways behind the other, just to unbalance the shot a little.....and not equally distant from their respective sides of the frame.

This one has bugged me also (have had the workprint for some time now.....not nearly as long as 005 or others on the project, but I got a bit of an idea how annoying it is to have to keep such an awesome secret from the very people who would enjoy it as much as I do).....any footprints should go right to the edge of the frame.

The thing with Ady's versions is that they're a nice mix between special ed, and preservation.......I think this is why they've struck such a chord with the fans......they do introduce new changes, but even when doing so they stay true to the originals, or the original spirit of the films. 

There were MANY wasted opportunities in the PT....Dooku's character being only one example (the fact that Lee's talent wasn't used, and that he was killed off and replaced with a coughing CG robot is just insulting). TPM was one big wasted opportunity.....should have been Obi-Wan's story....wasn't. AOTC should have shown Obi and Anakin becoming "good friends" (as mentioned in ANH)......Dooku was a "middle of the road" character, more or less the Boba Fett of the PT...neither good nor bad....but then we get to ROTS and GL basically just wastes him by declaring him a full on bad guy, moments before killing him off....Anakin isn't shown lusting for power.....but only seeking it in his obsessive desire to keep stalking Padme....essentially only turning to the dark side (what should have been more or less the biggest (and most anticipated) climax in cinema history) because he was tricked into believing something that wasn't true (and then doing nothing about it once he realized the truth)...........blah blah blah

Revisited still has to work with the material available to us.....we (most unfortunately) cannot reshoot the entire film......so as much as we can tweak things and make them somewhat different, the base material for such an edit IS still the PT as it exists now.

The only real interesting way to change the Dooku character into something meaningful is to have him mean something in the overall story or better yet in Anakin's specific story arc (otherwise its just changing him for the sake of changing him)......if Anakin killed him, but then it was discovered that Dooku WAS in fact just a "grey area" jedi...neither good nor bad....and that he HAD discovered that something was up and was maybe trying to do something about it from the inside (which meant letting the rest of the Jedi believe he had turned to the dark side)......it makes Anakin's killing of him a bit awkward........AND then you can show Anakin struggling with the fact that he ENJOYED killing him (lending itself more appropriately to the idea that Anakin was SEDUCED by the dark side, and not tricked by Palps).

But, as it has been said many times, short of a reshoot of the entire film....much of this cannot be achieved.

I agree that they could work in a background role as opposed to the in-your-face humour that Lucas gave us or being removed completely........might have been interesting to have seen 3P0 walking with Qui-Gonn and the Queen on Tatooine, look down, see R2 rolling by, suddenly engage him in conversation, and just kinda dragging him along because R2 would be too polite to interrupt him...have him just get swept up by the series of events.....showing his entry into the series, but not exactly explaining it.

The PT titles were a little too showy........and tried too hard to evoke the B-Movie serials that GL loved so much....."Revenge" MIGHT get a pass as it's an homage to ROTJ's original title......but even that seemed a bit gimmicky to me (not to mention that no Sith actually avenges himself nor HAS anything to avenge.....they're just coming into power.

The 2004 DVD just had bad color correction......whereas Ady is moving time forward and making the scene closer to nightfall....it adds up to more or less the same result (for that particular scene) but the motivations are far different.

If it were up to me I would make Anakin a background character in the PT...much the way Vader is a background character in the OT.....making him the protagonist of the PT makes it nigh on impossible to keep the reveal in Ep 5.
