But it's not this what I think only should be corrected in the PT, there are actually two lines from the OT that actually keep me somehow captive:
"When I left you I was but a learner..."
"I must obey my master"
I think there's still room for a twist in EPIII. What if Anakin foresees being chopped up by ObiWan, but instead, when the time comes, they swtich off their sabres and leave each other alive and well...
"You were my brother Anakin, I loved you"
"Don't make me kill you"
And they just leave each other there... then we'll come to realise that it's actually the Emperor himself who punishes his apprentices for not being mercyless and reckless. Palpatine torments Anakin in his office (if you are not planning to use the Vader hommage scene, then Anakin kneeling before Palpatine, with some FX and audio could do) until he gets all burned and ultimately ends up in the suit, and with literally a new dependancy!
Greetings!
That's a fantastic idea, Mithrandir. I don't recall anything like this coming up in the Radical Redux thread (though there is a lot to go through). If it hasn't I'd suggest pasting it there too.
Adding a different vision is also an amazing way to get rid of the existing oh-so-convenient prophetic dream of Padme's "death by pregnancy" which I've always hated as his rationale for turning as it makes turning to the dark side a calculated decision rather than a seduction.
I'm not sold on the Emperor being the one to give Anakin his injuries. I'm more than happy to assume he's suffered these between the events of both trilogies. It even still allows the interpretation of the canon 'molten pit' explanation as Obi Wan and Anakin may have battled at some point between films. It's best these things remain unseen as (as we've found out with what we got) they never do justice to our preconceptions.
This.
And while I love these ideas, I'm not sure how to make them happen.
Good seeing you on here again, Bob. Let me know if you need any help!

Right - it's either a mistake, or it's just really pathetically weak.
But... again, I really don't think there's a GOOD way to fix it. The whole end of the movie kind of falls apart if you take out Padme's death.
If somebody has a compelling idea of how to fix it, I'm all for that.
You will have to download the clip, but here is how The Cutter handled it. Really loved it.

1. What would be great would be a commitment from a pro ADR guy to do lines for both Ep. II and Ep. III at the same time (and maybe pickups for Ep. III if needed).
2. That, and an ADR guy who could do a good Jar-Jar and get a commitment for both Ep. I and II all at once.
Other stuff:
Then we have 2 lines from the blue-horned guy that could stand to be redone (recording quality).
Also, it may be worth addressing the Nemodians now, too. I got some GREAT foreign voice work for SOTDS (I think they were friends of user Sluggo). Would be great if I could get recordings for a possible Episode III and I.
Those could free me up to finish not only SOTDS, but a possible complete PT.
But Anakin is really the major issue. Even though I'm probably a better and more honest actor than I was when I did the rough cut, my voice doesn't always mesh with the thin and tall Hayden Christensen. Something closer to his sound, but a little deeper (remember he is Darth Vader) and not so wimpy and whiny would be perfect.
This may sound crazy, but with your own voice work for anakin... Have you tried changing the pitch in post?

Once a fanedit is put to a usable medium, it meets the legal definition of a bootleg. Contrary to what other fanedit websites may want you to believe, there is nothing you can do as a movie consumer to change this fact. It is for this reason that fanedits must never be sold, bought, or associated in any way with trade and commerce. Sadly, there are established fanedit websites that defy this principle every day by using their content to attract advertising revenue. The Digital Fanedits website is 100% commercial free--both in principle and in practice.

lol
Not sure.... But humorous to me.

^^During the lightsaber fight maybe? I know it's been suggested before.
True, and T-man already plans to redo the music there I believe....
So, what else needs to be done here to get this one off the ground?

He has only seven personalities and eight of those are me.
Which personality banned me for nothing? =)

Oh yeah, I know. You basically have to try and make it stronger somehow. That's why many were trying to make Grevious actually be a restructured Maul, because then you have a back story for Obi-Wan. The man who killed his master lives. Gives it purpose. But that would require an eye change.
What if his eyes weren't changed but he was still made out of pieces of Darth Maul? Maybe all of his facial tattoos got seared off. I don't know if we would actually get into all of that.
I know that Maul was a man of few words in Episode I. I wish the Grievous character were not so flamboyant and over-the-top, although that could probably be edited down. Turn him into a killing machine who only has a couple dozen lines in the movie.
We discussed this a long time ago, but what would really be great to sell this would be a scene between Palpatine and Grievous, possibly a recut combining Hayden's Frankenstein scene and some Grievous close-ups.
Wait, I just had an idea. Remember in "Empire Strikes Back" when Vader and Luke have this long, telepathic conversation?
They were in two completely separate locations but they were calling out to each other. Irvin Kershner did it with these really short fades.
Could something similar be done here at the beginning of the movie?
Palpatine: Darth Maul.....
Grievous: Lord Palpatine
Palpatine: My apprentice....
Grievous: My master.....
I really like this idea. It would be interesting if he was structured to look different and was renamed Grevious... But to have him be Maul, it needs to be revealed to Obi-Wan somehow otherwise it's pointless foreshadowing. Know what I mean? There has to be a payoff.

^^That sounds great. A good improvement on the original!
I actually had kind of an off-the-wall idea for Grievous, which may or may not work. He's an evil, eccentric robot who calls himself "Dr. Maul" and always refers to himself in the 3rd person. It might bring back the comic-book villain feel from the OT.
Why is he called Maul? Maybe Palplatine programmed him that way in honor/memory of his fallen apprentice. Or perhaps he IS Maul in some small way (he used Maul's heart or something small like that and then enshrined it in this robot).
It's the sort of crazy thing that wouldn't be out of character for Palpatine, considering that he does the same exact thing to Anakin at the end of the movie.
I know Grievous=Maul has been discussed ad nauseum, but what if we don't get into that and just let the audience wonder, "Why the heck does he call himself Maul, anyway?"
That's all fine and good. If you did it, it could be cool. Honestly though, I just wish we could Grevious more purpose besides just giving Obi-Wan something to do so Anakin can be alone to make bad decisions. =)
To be honest, I wish I could just cut out that entire part of the movie with Obi-Wan. It is completely pointless and literally serves no other function than giving Obi-Wan something to do while Anakin turns bad. But I'm already removing Yoda vs. Palpatine. If you take this out too, what is there left?

Here's one of the few Ep. III ideas I've had for a long time.
Enter the cue at 1:25 RIGHT after Grievous says "Kill them- make them suffer" (instead of silence)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4D3j1uJ-bEE&list=PL114DAC744C65531F&index=18&feature=plpp_video
I can see that. Would love to see a proof of concept.
That's what Adywan plans to do. He's editing all 3 prequels at the same time to make sure he's consistent. Good plans no matter what the reason.
Did I hear you plan to redub Anakin yourself again? How are you approaching it differently? I wish we could find someone who sounds like Anakin from the Clone Wars animated series. That voice is perfect to me. Just my opinion though.
I've said it in your Ep. 3 thread, but I'll repeat it here. Just glad to see you back, T-man. I'm here if you need anything.
T-man! Just the fact that you're thinking of editing this, makes me want to be more active again. My resources are yours as they were before!
I think Darth Vader should blink.
I agree with those ideas. Would be good to find a shocked look for Obi when Grevious says , "Syfodios"... He still has the cocky look on his face when realization should be there. Great idea though.

A lot of great ideas! But something like this, I think would be impossible in a "traditional" edit. But perhaps a silent version with inter-titles would give you the necessary flexibility to make a big change like this work.
On an entirely different note, I've made my first teaser for work-to-come on Episode I, if anybody is interested. I'd like to get the ball rolling on this particular point as early as possible.
Haha. I understand that you're seeking a voice for a redub. But, this made me chuckle. Sounded like Groucho Marx as Anakin.=)

I just registered because I had some thoughts on reworking TPM. Some (if not all) are probably repeats, but I thought I might share anyway. I am very tempted to get into the game and try and make an edit myself.
First of all, I would rework the whole narrative to have the Tatooine sequence first. The scroll would establish that the Queen is on the run from the Trade Federation, with two Jedi protectors. Padme wouldn't be a handmaiden or even the Queen, but would just be someone in the Queen's party. She accompanies Qui-Gon to Mos Espa with no argument about it. Jar Jar is established beforehand in a reworked scene with Padme cleaning Artoo (implying Artoo is her personal droid, thus why he accompanies them to Mos Epsa). The Gungan/Nubian dynamic is established then.
During this sequence, we would be introduced to the Trade Federation through watching them initiate the invasion of Naboo. Sio Bibble would be portrayed as the main Naboo character on the ground. Sidious would appear somewhere in here, not sure where, but done after Maul's first appearance on Tatooine.
Anakin won't really be the hero (or even much of a main character) in my edit, much to chagrin of some people around here I think. Most of his Tatooine exploits will remain the same, with the addition of the Greedo scene before they leave. Maul's first appearance, and the first appearance of the Sith, would be his arrival on Tatooine.
Once they leave Tatooine, they'll head to Coruscant, where Anakin is given to the Council for testing. Anakin will only show up in the testing scene later on, which would be intercut somewhere in the later Naboo sequences before the battle is underway, the funeral of Qui-Gon, and the final scene with Obi-Wan. Palpatine would already be played as being the Chancellor, since the Senate sequence would be cut due to Padme not being the Queen. His inability to get things done would lead Padme and the Queen to go back to Naboo to fight. The Nubian senator would not be relevant in this edit, although it could be assumed it is Valorum since he appears in the first Coruscant sequence.
Instead of the Nubian's asking the Gungan's to help them, when Jar Jar speaks about them not giving up without a fight and being warriors, it'd cut to the Gungan's marching to war. Jar Jar would obviously be cut out of this conflict as he wouldn't be there (nor would he show up until the ending sequences either). Padme and the Queen's struggle now comes to get to the throne room and force the Viceroy to surrender and stop the droid army. The space battle would be cut entirely.
Since the Control ship isn't being destroyed, the Jedi slip into the control ship, with the idea of getting to the bridge, using the first sequences of the film. However, they encounter Maul, and their duel takes place on the control ship.
Once Padme forces the Viceroy to surrender, the droids are shut off, the Gungan's celebrate, while the Maul/Kenobi duel finishes up. Yoda informs Obi-Wan that Anakin will be trained (he will not be rejected in this edit), but informs of his misgivings.
The idea for this came from my thought that Naboo should not be visited twice in this movie by the Heroes. Once they leave a location, they shouldn't return in that movie. Everything else flowed from there. Just thought I would throw the idea out there and see what others thought. Feel free to co-opt anything you find good.
Get out of my head, dang it. You're ideas are very similar to something I've been attempting.
I like it too... I just wish they were Maul's eyes, and also I wish there was a way to imply that he is in fact a reconstructed Maul. What a missed opportunity by Lucas!
I can probably help you color correct.... Aside from geonosis.... What other things need to be altered? What will you edit on?
