Writing a person’s name in “stutter” is clever? What world am I even living in?

But yeah just sounds like you are bitter.

I don’t understand why you would refuse to acknowledge that there’s a tiny bit of humor in this story. Even if you don’t think it’s funny, I don’t get why it’s so shocking to you that this pointless, waste-of-time story might make someone chuckle a little bit in spite of the fact that it’s about a mean barista. But yeah, sure, I’m bitter. I don’t like it when people pretend to care about other people. I’d rather just admit that they don’t care, because I always respect honesty more than moralizing bullshit.

Just because the barista was trying to make a joke doesn’t make it funny, it just makes him a dick.

Well, funny is subjective.

Yet you seem to be really worked up that Frink won’t admit there’s some “humor” to the joke.

I’m worked up that he’s acting as though it’s unreasonable or immoral that I saw some humor in the situation.

And just because you don’t care about anyone else doesn’t mean everyone else feels the same way.

I do care about some other people. I didn’t say that you people don’t care about anyone. I don’t believe any of you really care about the people in this story, though.

There are levels to caring. I care insofar as the barista’s a dick and I feel kinda bad for the stutter guy. It’s not a big tragedy or whatever, but it still sucks. Don’t see what’s unbelievable about that.

Sure. I can relate to the stutter guy. I also chuckled a little bit. It’s also kind of funny when a kid falls off his bike. That doesn’t mean I don’t think it’s sucks that he scraped his knee.

Does it really make him a dick? Are you really going to tell me that you’ve never once in your life been mean to someone else? Are you a dick? Are you a “terrible person” as Frink put it? (Speaking of Frink, I’ve seen him be pretty mean to people on this forum. I don’t think he’s a terrible person because of it.) For all we know, which is nothing other than that some guy got made fun of at Starbucks, this barista is a totally fucking pleasant person that maybe just made a poor joke because he was miserable at his shitty, degrading customer-service job. Maybe he’s a really mean dude, but perhaps he’s really charitable and spends his time volunteering at homeless shelters and helping people. Would he be a terrible person or a dick then? Maybe he really is just a giant pile of sub-human shit that no one would miss if he died tomorrow. We don’t fucking know. Maybe Sam, the customer, was really mean to the barista. Or maybe he’s the nicest guy in the world. We don’t fucking know. It’s not like the barista poured dish soap in the guy’s drink. It’s not like I’m laughing at someone for getting run over. I’m not even laughing at anyone, really. I just thought it was a kind of funny story. This is one of the reasons why I avoid other people. You can’t even chuckle at some distant, inconsequential event anymore without people finding it upsetting.

He just said the story gave him a slight chuckle. He didn’t say he was having schadenfreude over it. You yourself tend to not take seriously things that some people think you should.

It’s okay when he does it.

Seriously I don’t get it. Are you laughing at the barista for being a terrible person?

I chuckled because it was kind of clever and it just struck me as amusing. Mean people can say funny things sometimes too. Maybe I’m just bitter because I have a mild speech impediment and everyone made fun of me, much less creatively, and I never got a fucking news story because no one pretended to care. I just thought it was kind of amusing. I also find it kind of funny that it’s even in this thread since it has no political relevance at all.

i find things funny that i shouldn’t sometimes, because i am human.

Yes, thank you! For fuck’s sake, I’m glad someone can acknowledge that!

Are you really going to pretend that you’ve never once found something like this a little funny? You’re really going to pretend that you’re above chuckling a little bit at the expense of someone else? Really? Seriously? Because if so, I don’t believe you. And I said that I thought it was “kind of” funny. I said I chuckled. I didn’t say I laughed hysterically at how this guy got made fun of. I just admitted that it made me chuckle a little, because this story is so absurd and it seems like something straight out of an episode of Seinfeld.
