The only thing that keeps them from being the best thing ever are the prices, which is why I have so few (even though I’ve been slowly collecting for a good few years now).

Yeah, they’re never below 22 dollars new on Amazon. That actually isn’t bad considering how much new DVDs and VHS tapes used to cost back in the day, but it’s still a lot these days.

Egad, no! I’m speaking to the way a movie is cut together. Empire Of Dreams talked about how the film was edited after that less than stellar rough cut done by different people. It’s easy to forget 40 years on how frenetically paced Star Wars really was compared to other 70’s films.

I know, I was kidding. That’s actually a pretty good point. I’d never considered that before, but it wouldn’t surprise me if that has something to do with it. It would’ve been a really short shoot-out if those exploding wall ornaments hadn’t been in there.

Yeah, I’d love a Criterion OT. I’d be stunned to death if that happened, though. You should get Dr. Strangelove from Criterion, and Spartacus but that one seems to have vanished from print lately, which is tragic.

I want to see Philadelphia and Boys Don’t Cry in the Criterion Collection. Those have never gotten good blu-ray releases in the United States (or anywhere else that I’m aware, but at least they are available in HD). There’re also a couple of Polish movies I had to watch in college a few years ago that I hope get added because they aren’t available now anywhere that I can find. I should write to them and tell them to add those, I know they consider requests.

I’ll list my complete collection when I get home. It’s not huge or anything, but it’s more than I can remember off the top of my head.

I didn’t know anything about Criterion other than the company’s name and basic function until a few years ago when I started collecting blu-rays in general and after buying a few of my favorite films that are in the Criterion catalogue I became a big fan of the quality products that they put out. Every month or so I’ll buy one. What’re your opinions, which films do you have, which films do you want, which films should Criterion release if they can? Anything Criterion is up for discussion here.

I’m most excited for the David Byrne film True Stories, which is coming out in November. That’s one of my favorite films that has never been out on blu-ray before, plus the special features look exciting.

I know. I was joking. I know it wasn’t a funny joke, but I was just saying “Oh, you had an affair with an older woman?” because it’s funny to say that you relate to the Graduate because it isn’t a plot that most people could relate to. Like if I vaguely said that I related to the Shining (because my dad used to drink too much) but didn’t actually tell you why, and then you said “Oh, you lived in a haunted hotel?” It’s just a lame joke. I wasn’t trying to be difficult.

Does anyone else think that Han, Luke, and Chewie shooting so many things on the wall in the cell-block shootout kind of disrupts the excitement and pace of the scene? It’s always bothered me and I don’t mind them doing it, but it seems weird how much time they spend shooting so many of those alarms and cameras and things when there are other imperial officers still alive in the same room.

The thing is, Warb did start his own forum at some point.

Really? Cool.

For someone who claims to have so many problems with the moderation of this site, you sure do invoke the mods a lot. You should start your own Star Wars forum and ban everyone who creates an account. That’s the beauty of the free market.

Go fuck yourself. If I get banned for that, I get banned.

What the hell, man.

Yeah, I don’t get it. All I ever went after Warb for was his position on the NFL protests, specifically his position on soldiers that support the anthem protests. That crossed the line and was too much, but apparently actual personal attacks aren’t too much.

It’s the hypocrisy that gets me. And for the record and for what it’s worth, I don’t want him banned for this. I really don’t and I hope it doesn’t happen.

You know what this argument about anthem-kneelers reminds me of?

That scene in Monty Python’s Life of Brian, where the crowd is stoning someone for saying the name ‘Jehovah’, and then the guy in charge of the stoning accidentally says ‘Jehovah’ himself, and they all turn on him and start stoning him too.

The misplaced outrage and slavish devotion to symbols of certain people reminds me very much of those in that crowd. Seriously: don’t be the people in that crowd.

whatever.

It’s just so amusing to me. “People who kneel are insulting the soldiers that serve and die for us!”

“I’m a wounded veteran and I support the protest.”

“Well I respect you less too!”

Can you at least acknowledge the hypocrisy of that? Pretty please?

Whatever, I give up. Most of those out-of-context posts are totally fair and none of them are harassment, they’re attacks on your political position made during a heated argument. If that’s a bannable offense then I’ll be banned soon and you can live happily until tomorrow when another user “harasses” you by engaging you in debate and then you’ll go off again about how mistreated and aggrieved you are. Good day.

EDIT: One last thing:

WHAT?

And why did you split my post about the killed-in-action soldiers into several parts? What do you gain by that other than to make my posts look more inflammatory than they were.

NOW: Good day.
