Incidentally, I used to live only mile away from that mosque. No one I know was directly impacted by it, but friends of my old friends lost their father to that shooter. People can’t accuse Muslims of being the sole perpetrators of terrorist attacks anymore.

They couldn’t do it before either but that didn’t stop them.

Most terrorist attacks are perpetrated by Muslims but people forget that most deaths at the hands of terrorists are also Muslims.

In the US?

No, globally.

The DP of Rogue One Greig Fraser mentions that they had a look at the 4K versions of Star Wars AND Empire in the February issue of American Cinematographer:

“With Gareth Edwards, we wanted to be attentive that the look be consistent with A New Hope, which is seared in our brains. We weren’t necessarily trying to reproduce what it actually looked like, but how we remember it — there’s a difference between reality and the remembrance of reality. Part of our research was to look at the 4K scanned versions of A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back. They look fantastic, but they don’t look how I remember them.”

Not sure if that means that more digital nonsense has taken place with the movies.

I’d be more likely to guess that he’s meaning the ‘colour grading’ is very different to how he remembers…

I doubt that very seriously. Color grading is not something most people outside of this forum care about.

I don’t know why everyone is making jokes over something that will destroy every aspect of our lives.

Because nothing matters anymore. At least we want to be destroyed happy.

Happiness was destroyed forever when Donald Trump became president.

I am beyond depressed and everyone refuses to listen to me.

People actually did interact with you seriously when you were acting like a normal person. Now that you’re back to being crazy, rude, insane, and making light of the holocaust, people are right back to responding to you like you’re a madman.

I love to hate listening to people who think they know all about alcohol just because they’ve tried some expensive stuff (they’re usually bashing “cheap” stuff). I also love their faces when they find out they are talking to someone who studies these things and that it’s obvious that they don’t have a clue what they’re talking about.
But why do people do this? I experience it mostly with beer and liquor, but it happens with just about any subject. Why pretend like you know about something you don’t know about? It only makes you look silly.

A lot of people always settle for cheap stuff. I only drink Pabst Blue Ribbon, of course. Most people don’t actually have refined taste.

I’m curious where the line is drawn for punching people like Richard Spencer. Essentially, the justification is that he says despicable things (which he does, I won’t shed a single tear when he dies and doubtlessly burns in hell for all time), but if we are allowed to punch people who say despicable things, are we allowed to slash their tires? Throw a brick through their window? Where does it stop?

It’s like porn, I don’t know how to define where it stops, but I’ll know it when I see it…and a Nazi getting punched isn’t it.

I liked watching it too; I’m just curious where the line is.

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)

Is Harmy still planning on doing another 720p update of Star Wars? He said after Jedi came out that he was considering making it on par with the other two after he was done with 2.5 of Empire. I asked about this a while ago but didn’t get a reply.

I do recall a post about this not too long ago (probably yours), but didn’t respond because it was the first I had heard of such a thing (a 2.8 or such). If Harmy did say this, do you know if it was before 2.7 existed? Most communication I’ve heard from Harmy on the subject suggest that this is it until 3.0, but things change of course.

You know, it might have been before 2.7. He mentioned it a few days before releasing Jedi 2.5, and the conversation was also surrounding the decision to consider the workprint for 2.0 the “official” 2.0 and then release the updated Jedi as 2.5. He said that he was considering doing an update to SW after Empire in order to bring it up to the same level as the sequels by using TN1 footage to replace the entirely GOUT shots I believe. It didn’t really get mentioned again so I assumed it wasn’t happening.

Wasn’t there an alteration made to Jedi’s novelization at some point? They removed a reference to Owen being Obi-Wan’s brother. I’d be curious to know which edition was the first to feature this change.

I’d also be curious to know if any changes were made to the novelizations of Star Wars and Empire.

I own a copy of Jedi that was printed after the prequels and it has the green DVD art as its cover and is called Episode VI and everything and it still calls Owen the brother of Obi-Wan. I don’t think that it was ever changed because it definitely would’ve been changed in there.

Do you think Disney will release the unaltered versions for DVD and blue ray?
Time

Robert A. Harris has said that Star Wars won’t be a problematic film to restore. If Robert A. Harris says something about the state of a film, then he’s right. Also, Disney doesn’t let there catalogue deteriorate. That’s why things like Song of the South and the racist part of Fantasia are pristinely restored even though they won’t ever get released again.
