This is kind of a random thought, but it’s political so I think it is best left in this thread. I’ve found a Youtube internet commentator that is about a million times worse than Alex Jones and he’s that Stefan Molyneux guy.

Care to elaborate?

There’s an element of silliness to Alex Jones that Molyneux doesn’t have

Which makes Alex Jones more dangerous.

I’m not so sure. Nobody really takes Alex seriously, almost everybody recognizes that he’s a nut and his ideas are crazy.

Cough

Alex Jones doesn’t have the same cult-like devotion that Molyneux’s followers have, and his ideas may be technically sillier, but they are not nearly as despicable as Stefan Molyneux.

There’s an element of silliness to Alex Jones that Molyneux doesn’t have, and it really just makes him disturbing. One problem I have with him is that his videos are so long that they’re completely unwatchable given his repetitive style of philosophizing, and there are also a lot of disturbing tirades of his online that he presumably didn’t want to have recorded where he rants and raves about how women are the cause of all ill in the world and they need to be held accountable for marrying or procreating with men that he considers to be “assholes”. He also has recommended that his followers (some of which have a cult-like devotion to him) end relationships with friends and family that are not also as libertarian as he is.

I honestly don’t know if idiots being islamaphobic helps or doesn’t help with terrorism. The reason ISIS (and islamic terrorism in general) is appealing is because the narrative is that you get into paradise if you murder infidels and die in the process. More Americans were Soviet Unionaphobic throughout the Cold War than were Islamaphobic in 2001, and there weren’t concerted efforts by seemingly ordinary Russians or communists to murder innocent people.

Also, maybe it isn’t an outright justification, but I think that it’s clearly a tacit one at least. It places blame on someone who isn’t the terrorist. Sam Harris has said before that the fact that deposing a dictator like Saddam Hussein (one of the most evil men of all time) makes a country worse says nothing bad about us, but it says something terrible about the state of the Middle East.

EDIT: To be clear I’m not saying that it’s a justification of the terrorism itself, but of why it happens.

I don’t think that anyone should kid themselves by saying that people are willing to blow themselves up and kill innocent men, women, and children purely because a small number of people in the United States are mean to them. If we look at instances in history where groups of people were genuinely oppressed in Western countries, they didn’t result in the mass-murder of unarmed civilians. Black people before the Civil Right Movement and Jews under Nazi Germany to say the least. I hate this justification of terrorism. It’s true that the invasion of Iraq was a disaster and it upset the balance of power, but Iraq under Sadaam Hussein was just as much of a shit hole as it is now, except the murder is coming from sectarian conflict instead of a violent dictator.

SCHOOLS OUT

For summer or forever?

For summer

It was an Alice Cooper reference.

That this had to be said boggles the mind…

I know. Looking back on it, it’s kind of ambiguous as to whether he got it or not, but I felt like I needed to clarify to be safe. The response I was hoping for was “School’s been blown to pieces!”

I don’t know why everyone is making jokes over something that will destroy every aspect of our lives.

Because nothing matters anymore. At least we want to be destroyed happy.

Happiness was destroyed forever when Donald Trump became president.

I am beyond depressed and everyone refuses to listen to me.

People actually did interact with you seriously when you were acting like a normal person. Now that you’re back to being crazy, rude, insane, and making light of the holocaust, people are right back to responding to you like you’re a madman.

Let’s get one thing straight. When I make a comment referencing the holocaust, I am never making light of it.

I believe we are repeating the horrors of nazi Germany under Donald Trump; I would post this in the politics thread, but you were ups ban me for making hyperbolic comments that in my opinion are close to the truth. You have defined me as an insane, rude, and insensitive person when in reality we are entering the end times. Even if we survive Trump, it’ll be too late to save human civilization because we will have hit the tipping point for climate change. Even if every person believed 100 percent that global warming is real by 2025, there is absolutely nothing we can do to stop human extinction, along with nearly all plant and animal life.

This is the worst era in history, EVER, and I am dead serious right now.

The DP of Rogue One Greig Fraser mentions that they had a look at the 4K versions of Star Wars AND Empire in the February issue of American Cinematographer:

“With Gareth Edwards, we wanted to be attentive that the look be consistent with A New Hope, which is seared in our brains. We weren’t necessarily trying to reproduce what it actually looked like, but how we remember it — there’s a difference between reality and the remembrance of reality. Part of our research was to look at the 4K scanned versions of A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back. They look fantastic, but they don’t look how I remember them.”

Not sure if that means that more digital nonsense has taken place with the movies.

I’d be more likely to guess that he’s meaning the ‘colour grading’ is very different to how he remembers…

I doubt that very seriously. Color grading is not something most people outside of this forum care about.

DPs care a whole lot about color grading actually. He easily could have been talking about that.

Maybe, but if it’s the colors from the RMW 4K reel, then I doubt it because they look like everything before the DVD/Blu-Ray. Unless the colors ended up being really weird afterward of course.
