Blended out Palp’s Theme (I hope) a little bit better, cleaned up the word “a”, added a clip of Rey panting to cover up the omission of “and,” and also trimmed down the dramatic pause before she finishes her line (to help fudge the lip sync). Any better? The video cut on Rey’s line could be a little tighter and overlap the line on her catching the second saber more; I’m just worried about carving too deeply into the closeup shot.

I think “I am all the Sith” being removed works. Without it, it’s like Palps is saying “You can’t defeat me. You’re nothing. Just a scavenger.” Rey’s new line is a retort, “No, I’m not just a scavenger anymore. I’m a Jedi.”

With “I am all the Sith” Rey’s line just sounds like a one-liner, like “Yeah? Well, I’m a Jedi! Hah gottem!”

I have no expertise in this area but could you maybe loop the footage once the ghosts are in focus so that the shot could be extended?

Although I guess if you were to extend the shot by even just 2 seconds it would throw the music off.

Jon’s force ghosts made it to reddit! A little upsetting he’s not getting more credit but it was a nice surprise to see his edit pop up on my feed.

I don’t think the intention was to use all of them. I believe Hal said he was going to just use a few. Personally, I think the best ones are Pasaana, Kijimi, and the pause in fighting on Exegol.

Either one is fine to me. Heck you could use voice clips of Papa Palpatine from Robot Chicken and I’d be satisfied. Anything works as long as it’s not “Somehow, Palpatine returned.” I hate that line so much 😛

I like it personally, though it was a bit jarring at first. But I think that’s because I’ve watched previous versions of the scene so many times 😄

I didn’t know you had reached a consensus on the “Somehow, Palpatine returned” line. The result is a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one 😛

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the point in this change was that the opening scene ends with Palpatine talking about Rey, so it makes sense to jump to Rey next. Then the Ajan Kloss training sequence ends with Leia and Rey being informed that the Falcon hasn’t reported in yet, so the next cut is to the Falcon.

Personally, I think it actually helps to slow down the pacing with this edit instead of leaving it the way it was before.

I liked the removal of the “Only this blade will tell” scene on (now) Endor, however, the scenes of Rey retrieving the dagger on Ren’s ship are sort of useless now.

The blade is sort of whispering to Rey throughout this sequence, implying that she can hear the voices of the Sith through the blade and that it’s directing her where to go.

The worst thing about the sequel titles is that they all start with “The.” I don’t know why JJ didn’t just make it “Rise of Skywalker.”

I don’t know if you guys were still thinking about removing the “Knights of Ren” line when they’re passing the two stormtroopers, but now you officially can’t, because it’s Karl Urban’s voice 😛

Are you talking about the music that fades in when Rey turns to look at Luke and Leia? Honestly, I had no idea that wasn’t the original music. It sounds totally fine to me, but maybe I’m just not observant enough ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Just to add my two cents, I think the return of the most powerful Sith Lord is a high enough stake to not need more planet destroying weapons.

I don’t think the point was that the teleporting healed the lightsaber. It’s that Ben turning back to the light and taking up his grandfather’s saber healed the crystal.

IMO, if there’s an audio/visual cue when Ben shrugs at the Knights of Ren, and the saber stabilizes at that point, it would work fine.

I like the idea of having the blade “heal” when it’s passed to Ben

My only problem with this whole crackly saber thing is that it might be kinda weird if no one in the movie acknowledges that the saber is behaving differently than normal. It’s definitely a cool idea that I would like to see implemented. Just something to consider.

Imo, it’s more unbelievable that they WOULDN’T have backups of 3PO’s memories. He’s a droid. I’m sure everyone here maintains up-to-date backups of their computers and/or phones, so why would droids in Star Wars be treated any differently?
