We continue to wonder why you would lower your quality standards for the video, when you are so critical of the still images and color? This seems like a double standard. You should be consistent in the quality levels.

Because even though it's not perfect, it looks much more natural than the official home video releases.

Basically it's a color correction test, that is all.

For just a test, it's pretty darn good.

Yeah, there's dirt, damage, and instability, but it doesn't seem THAT bad. Compare what you have to "grindhouse" prints, or severe vinegar syndrome.

It doesn't have to look immaculate. Probably no screening outside the first week of release was. Just get it "close enough", and we'll be happy, won't we?

Other people can take it the extra mile later on if they want.

You will see that this matches the previously posted screenshots.

That's more like it. The remaining dirt and shakiness does distract a bit, but you can still tell that the colours are great. Seems to me compression IS a factor in comparing stills & video.

Less green, a bit brighter, cleanup/stabilize, and ship it! :)

For anyone looking for video clips with the colors posted in still frames, refer to this link, as posted on page 3 of this thread.

Doesn't look quite as good in the video. Still pretty good, but with weaker contrast and more red.

Either the stills were very carefully selected, or video compression is a factor...

I'm curious. What do the pros use to encode and play back digital video files (not tapes)?

I'd love to have access to that stuff, because I don't see why the average person should have to struggle with files that will only play properly in very specific environments, or have bugs in them thanks to unstable encoding software.

I would love to see a clip that had the same colour timing & same level of cleanup as the stills you've been posting lately. I think they're almost perfect, just a bit too dark and maybe a wee touch warm.

Are those stills from a print currently in your possession? If so, which one? Is it a complete/near complete print? If so, can the whole thing be made to match these great stills?

...or maybe there's something to this sudden hoax paranoia.

That can be quite nicely disproved with a single 100% restored clip. How long would it take for 15 to 30 seconds of footage to be FINALIZED as an example of what to expect?

The colour balance on these latest clips is perfect. A bit more brightness and saturation, and the whole thing should be perfect! Excellent stabilization and dirt/scratch removal.

:)

Oh, and stick with Vimeo - solid quality, no ads. And switch from Imageshack to Imgur if possible (if you register there, you can adjust privacy settings).
