Vader and Obi-Wan fighting near a volcano was in an interview done between Star Wars and Empire. I remember after he fell in, the Emperor and troops would arrive and Obi-Wan would disappear into the forrest- never to be seen again. Luke was also supposed to be around 3 when it happened.
I’m thinking the proliferation of bootlegs might work out if Lucasfilm sees them cutting into potential profits. It was the laserdisc-scan bootlegs that got us the GOUT after all.

If George is coming, I doubt it would be unaltered. I can imagine them playing an SE, and loudly voicing their disapproval at the many of the changes, all with George in the room with them to hear their hatred for his destruction of their work. Maybe then something would finally click in his head.
No one will actually do that. They let him get away with so much crap over the years. I bet Marcia Lucas has a gag order which is why we never hear from her and she disappeared into the ether.
I’m pretty much against the ultimate-boxed-set approach. At least for quite a long time, the only way to buy the theatrical cut of Superman on Blu-ray, for example, was to buy a big-ass boxed set, with not only the Special Edition of Superman, but all the other movies, including multiple cuts of Superman II.
Now yeah, I bought it–because I’m a sucker–and now I have the movie I want and a bunch of shiny new coasters. There was also quite a while where the only way to buy Raiders of the Lost Ark on Blu was to buy it with all its attendant coasters. Fortunately I was able to wait that one out until it was available as a single.
Having to buy a bunch of swag just to get the movie you want is crappy. I don’t even think the trilogy should be bundled. Only want Empire? Fine, go for it.
Glad I’m not the only one who just bought Raiders. I did buy the big Superman set, because I wanted the Documentary and the Fleischer cartoons in HD.
I too only want the OOT. I will never watch the Special Editions again and having to buy them would irritate me. Especially anything beyond an OOT/2011 version two pack.
Maybe add something about fans of classic cinema loving them too? Or when the rumors start, a bunch of websites jump on it showing a high demand? I know you can’t come out and say the SEs are crap, give us the good versions, but anything that shows its not just one small segment of people who want them.
I only saw the SE’s in the theater, but the one we went to is still there, its a discount theater now. They built a more modern one a little up the road in the place where Hills Department Store used to be. That’s where I got a lot of my Star Wars toys as a kid.

Ouch 😄 ! One of the most important artists of the past decades. Not only an artist, but an engineer and an explorer. The kind of man (along with Lucas by the way, as well as Zemeckis, Spielberg, Jackson and Del Toro) who is a pioneer and a researcher in cinematic ways of telling a story. One of the most talented sci-fi storytellers. So… ok man, “bouh hou hou, Cameron said bad things about Episode 7, he’s a douche, bouh hou hou me sad 😦”… Ok 😄

People keep saying this but I think “Will there be any more changes to the Special edition versions?” is the question that he was trying to ask. And he got the answer he was looking for. Not every inquiry people make about changes to the films revolves around the unaltered versions.
I don’t think anyone at Lucasfilm wants more changes to the films. Anyone who would champion that was probably forced out years ago- like McCallum.
The good thing is I don’t see JJ or Gareth Edwards coming along in 20 years and changing TFA or R1.

After watching the Kennedy interview, I think when she says ‘those will always remain his’ she was referring to the edits themselves, not the SE’s. Implying she doesn’t want to be associated with the changes at all.
