Michael Moore's Sicko

Bullshit. It's a Michael Moore film. It's political propaganda and nothing more. As such it's full of lies and deceit. Sure, I could waste 2 hours of my life watching it (I probably will at some point) or I could do something more productive. I chose the later.

That lawsuit you keep mentioning never went through. The judge dismissed it.

http://money.cnn.com/2003/01/22/news/companies/mcdonalds/index.htm

The reason the hot coffee lawsuit was successful was because McDonald's had been warned several times that there coffee was to hot (scalding hot) and they'd had several other people file complaints against them before that incident. I still think it was a wasteful lawsuit, but there is a back story that makes it make more sense.

As long as other things are in the image you can't be charged, I looked it up. A couple years back they tried to copyright any photos taken of the eifel tower. They were trying to make it so any photos taken of the eifel tower could not be posted publicly because the eifel tower image is trademarked. The courts said they couldn't stop people publishing their photos as long as other objects were in the image or background. This is because the person could say he was taking a picture of something else and the eifel tower was in the shot but he took the shot anyway. The person who took these pictures can argue the same logic, such as, " I was taking a picture of my hand at different angles when turning pages to visually determin the stress on joints and how the muscles in my hand would flex, since this was the book I had at the time it became part of the experiment." Also, the person who originally posted all the images didn't title them in any specific way so his intentions may not have been the reproduction of the book. If a lawyer will argue a case of someone suing McDonalds for making them fat and win, then this kid could win his case. Also, Scolastic is the one who said libraries could open the boxes early, that is their own stupid mistake.

I'm pretty sure that case was unique in that the Eiffel tower is a public landmark. I'm also pretty sure that a judge would laugh in your face for even attempting a defense like that. So you had to flip through nearly 800 pages to determine how your joints moved and then instead of posting it somewhere like myspace or facebook, you put it up in a torrent that clearly is related to Harry Potter and not images of joints moving? HAHAHAHAHAHA. GUILTY!

This guys intentions are very clear and I'll be surprised if he isn't prosecuted. You may think your defense will work, but a judge isn't going to think so (I don't think even you think it'll work, sounds more like a devil's advocate argument). This is definitely a copyright violation.

I will say it again: if a release has the OOT restored and remastered properly, I will pay any price.

I wouldn't say such things on a public forum. Next thing you know, LFL is releasing it just the way we want it, but at a cost of $500.

Star Wars USB Flash drives
Time
These look kind of cool:

http://www.mimoco.com/swlanding.htm

Unfortunately, at $70 for the 1 GB and $100 for the 2 GB, they're insanely overpriced. Since you can get a 1 GB flash drive online for $10, the license fees on these things must be around $50 (that leaves $10 profit for the other company). That is absolutely insane.

But wait, they're limited to 3500 pieces. Still absolutely insane.

I read something earlier today on Google News. Essentially, they're trying to track down the source of the leak. The British publishing agency is pissed off at the American publishing agency since it appears to have leaked in the US. Apparently there was so much secrecy around this book that it should've been impossible for anyone to do this. I hope whoever did this is enjoying their freedom. They're going to be in a lot of trouble if/when they get caught.

Lassiter kills Disney's direct to DVD sequels
Time
Sounds like you just hate the CG animation that Pixar puts out. I have just about all of Pixar's movies and I love every one of them. Finding Nemo (which I've probably seen close to 100 times now), Monsters Inc, Cars, The Incredibles, Toy Story 1 and 2 (two was going to be direct to video until it was decided it was to good for that). Every one of Pixar's movies is story first and animation second (they even say that on the commentary). Hell, on the Finding Nemo commentary, they mention that they do movies of things they want to see and it just happens to be something the kids want to see too. They even said they had to scale some of the scenes in Nemo back since they'd be to scary for little kids. Nothing wrong with that, especially since parents probably don't want their kids screaming and having nightmares after watching the movie.

All other Disney films have been failures because the stories all sucked. It really had nothing to do with the animation. The animation looked fantastic, but the stories totally blew.

Disney wasn't just the release studio on several Pixar films. They were the release studio for ALL Pixar films. Now they're another division of Disney. That alone should make future Disney films much more successful. I for one would go out of my way to see Pixar films before. Now that they're owned by Disney, they'll just get a bigger cut of the receipts.

I don't know how you can even compare any of Pixar's movies to Pokemon. The former are expressly designed for kids and adults alike with wonderful stories and great animation (whether you like the animation or not doesn't mean it's not great animation). The latter is a show strictly for kids that has only slightly more plot than an average episode of Dragonball.

And while Shrek 3 may not have been as good as Shrek 1 or even 2, it was still a fun, enjoyable movie. I really like the way those guys poke fun and make references to all the fairy tales.

So by your reasoning, all animation that targets kids is crap. Well, IMHO, Chicken Run was a pretty lame movie and Wallace and Gromit didn't look that good either.

They fly off the shelves based on the Disney name and nothing else. Family and friends agree that the stories are crap though. I think it's debatable whether or not kids enjoy seeing them. Kids probably enjoy seeing something on the tv screen for an hour, but that doesn't mean they're enjoying the actual story.

Did we really need a sequel to Bambi? Oh look, Bambi's all grown up and now he has his own family. A new threat awaits though. Seriously, is that really needed?

Pixar will definitely help get them back on track.

Snape went to the good side (Hogwarts, etc.) because he was all emo that Voldemort killed Lilly Potter

So the entire HP series has essentially been a LOTR story? Talk about dragging something out. I can't be the only one that sees a connection between part of Voldemort's soul being put into Harry and part of Sauron's soul being put into a ring. I guess the only difference would be that Harry didn't have to die completely in order to kill Voldemort.

If you're the one seeder who appeared yesterday evening, thanks a lot, don't be afraid, I seed everything to at least 1.5 ratio and delete the files after nobody downloads from me at least a week.

Nope, wasn't me. I'm on it now though.

The DVD9 1080P edititions of anything that I do are designed to not only be 100% PC compatible for home theater PC use but are 100% XBOX 360 playable as well. There are some bogus x.264 and 720P versions out there from crap sources. That is why I put "Wookie Groomer Presents" in front of the posts so you know the difference.

I'm gonna need a place to store all these. Looks like it's time for a big external drive

BTW, WG, I love these. They look absolutely fantastic! I've only been able to watch bits and pieces of ANH and ROTJ (DVD9), but they look sweet! Sadly, I missed the ESB DVD9, so the 13 GB versions will have to do (not a bad thing, just need some permanent storage for them).

Thank you again for all the work you've done on these!

Yes well, since his voice was so much fucking louder than the rest of the audio, I had to keep turning it down or I'd have people in my office wondering what the fuck I'm listening to.

Gotta hate asshole n00bs.

FOAD.

So let me get this straight: instead of working, you're watching Star Wars videos on youtube?

You're a credit to society. LOL

I was on lunch jackass. I happen to work in IT, so even on lunch, I'm at a computer doing whatever.

I haven't seen it yet, but how was that a PC choice? They said time and again during production that all the transformations would be real size. How would Megatron possibly go from a 20' tall robot to an 8" gun? That's not PC, that's realism. The only thing they really could've done was make him a tank.

If they had made him a gun, then yeah, all the fanboys would've loved it, but everyone else would've been taken right out of the movie the moment he transformed.
