2007 Star Wars DVD Collection Release

Somehow I don't think LFL would count the DVD releases of the PT as PTSE. So it'd more likely be 2-discs per movie for the OT (OOT + SE)=6 discs + 1 disc each for the PT = 9 discs + 1 bonus disc for each movie (6 discs total)=15 discs. And even if they wanted to include theatrical and "special" versions of the PT, they could do that on a single disc using seamless branching. There just aren't enough changes between the theatrical release of the PT and the DVD release, imo, to warrant a completely separate disc. I'm sure there's enough material for 1 more disc as well.

I don't believe this is going to be a Star Wars box set either, but it could be done with that number of discs.

What is the most distressing aspect of the PT?
Time
Here's something I was thinking about a couple of days ago (I don't often ponder the PT since it's mostly crap).

Yoda pretty much saw or felt what Anakin did to the Tusken Raiders. So why wasn't Anakin punished for what he did? Maybe it's in one of the books that takes place between Ep2 and Ep3, but I was just wondering why the little shit didn't get punished for what was essentially a lot of senseless murdering.

The Digital Bits also had this in their update yesterday:

"While we're talking Fox, you may recall how we mentioned a few days ago that Lucasfilm producer Rick McCallum told audiences at the Star Wars Celebration convention in Europe recently that the Star Wars films wouldn't be released in high-definition until one format emerged a winner. Industry sources have informed us that McCallum also added that if the high-def format war isn't resolved soon, the company might skip high-def disc altogether and release the films in HD via download only. Yikes!"

I wonder if they're seriously contemplating an HD via download only possibility. I can see them doing it, but it would probably only be available via iTunes. If they did it, it would definitely be revolutionary (who else is doing that right now?) and it could be seen as a way to push the industry forward into that arena.

Don't kid yourself Zion. This sites policy about not posting direct links, but feel free to talk about direct links, is just weird. The only difference between this place and FE.org is the existence of links. "Go to Demonoid and search on this, it'll be the first hit" is really no different from posting a direct link. To think otherwise is wishful thinking.

If you really wanted to be in the clear, you wouldn't allow any discussion of links period ala TFN.

Apparently the direct links didn't have anything to do with it. LucasArts asked for all links and discussion to end. They seem to think it's something it's not. Something about an original Clones movie.

A more appropriate question is why are people spending so much time on crap like that. I could care less if a site like that exists. I don't look at it and it's blocked on the company firewall (I had to temporarily remove the block in order to see what Sean was fussing about).

So Sean, do you spend your day looking at cartoons having sex?

In keeping with the 10th amendment, the right to bear arms is explicitly spelled out in the Constitution, which by definition means it's not only a state issue. States can and should exercise some control over their firearms laws, but should not be able to ban their citizens from carrying them. Concealed carry reciprocity should be a codified federal law.

I had not thought about this in that way. Additionally, combined with the 4th amendment, I would have to say it already is law. As such, I stand corrected.

You're right on this one Rob. I don't fail as a Conservative though. I failed my constitutional knowledge.

You got me. I lack common sense.

Did it ever occur to you that my answers had nothing to do with politics and everything to do with my personal opinion? I busted my ass to get where I am today. A good job, beautiful wife, nice car, house, one wonderful son (so far). Common sense tells me that if you want to get ahead in life, you work hard (go to school, get a job, get ahead), don't complain to much, and roll with the punches. Sacrifice is necessary as well. That means that if you can't afford the latest fashion or the new car because you need to pay rent, eat food, or pay tuition, that you go without. That means that you save money for a rainy day, so that when that unexpected car repair bill comes, instead of worrying if you can afford it, you've got the money to pay for it. Instead of taking that paycheck and blowing it on fun and entertainment, put it in savings and stay in. Yeah, it sucks, but your future depends on it.

I have gone without. I have made sacrifices. I live way below my means just so I don't have to worry about those things. I could probably buy a new car tomorrow, but it would mean a $400 car payment, plus higher insurance, for the next 5 years. I've already got a mortgage, I don't need more debt.

You think you know me because of a few questions you asked. You don't know a damn thing about me.

1. Should a child be given medical treatment free of charge by American taxpayers if his or her parents do not have health insurance?

2. Is Ann Coulter a cunt (does she make you at least a little bit uneasy)?

3. Is Rush Limbaugh a hypocrite (do you find him laughable)?

4. Is George Bush a conservative?

5. Is George Bush a bit of a dunce?

5. Should gay couples be able to adopt children that are otherwised not wanted by straight couples and are going to live in a foster home if not adopted by a homosexual couple. Please don't qualify this question, anwser it as a hypothetical if you must.

6. Who killed JFK?

7. Should pot be legal?

8. Should the "God Hates Fags" people have the right to protest at the funerals of American Soldiers? I am not asking this in terms of a states rights question, I'm asking whether or not YOU feel that they should have that right.

Why don't you give us your answers now? This has all been a lot of one way bullshit.

1. Any decent human being would agree that any sick child should be taken care of by a civilized society. This is not an argument for socialized medicine, it is precisely the opposite. It is a demonstration that your (and my by the way) opposition to socialized medicine has caused you to think of a question of simple human decency in the context of a current political argument. The answer is we should treat all sick children, regardless of whether or not we are opposed to socialized medicine for all citizens. Children are helpless and cannot be held to the ideal of American self reliance.

3. Bill Clinton (although I hate his guts) is much more intelligent than George Bush. This is plain to see, and has nothing to do with which man you find to be more decent or admirable. George Bush is a Dope and Clinton is highly intelligent regardless of there political ideologies. Again your politics, specifically your rightful disgust with Clinton, and political similarities with Bush, have blinded you to something that is plain as day.

5. The right to carry a handgun should not be a state by state issue any more that the right to free speech should be a state to state issue, it is guaranteed by the second amendment and should not limited to carrying a weapon only in your home state. Some conservative you are.

6. The correct answer is Seinfled.

1. And who's going to pay for it all? Money doesn't grow on trees. There's a lot of sick children in this world. Do we treat them all? Do we start forcing doctors to go to foreign countries to treat their children? Charities exist for a reason. Cut taxes and let people keep more of their income and charitable donations go up. That is a historical proven fact.

3. You're basing this on what? His popularity? Please, show me some evidence. Bill Clinton is obviously better in front of a camera. He's better at off the cuff questions. If he's so damn smart, why the hell didn't he take out bin Laden when he had the chance?

5. The right to carry a handgun is different from the right to bear arms. Of course that should not be a state by state issue. I'm very pro-gun, but I do not think a concealed weapon is specifically spelled out in the Constitution. I think everyone should be able to carry one, yes, but if one state decides not to allow but doesn't ban guns, I'm pretty sure I'm ok with that. When the laws get draconian like they are here in California, that's where I draw the line. Again, find in the Constitution where you have the right to carry a gun with you at all times. It's not there. "The right of the People, to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." You could construe that to mean also carrying concealed and I'd back you on it. But not being able to carry a gun on your person is not the same thing as outright banning guns.

6. Seinfeld is crap

What was the point to all of this?

1. You're using a "think of the children" question to validate socialized medicine. You continue to narrow the scope of the question while keeping it focused on children. Here's my answer: Why don't the parents have health insurance? Are the parents drug addicts? Would the child be better served in another home? Do the parents not have any friends or family? This is why large social circles are important. People should not depend on the government to bail them out. Plan for the future. Plan for the worst, hope for the best. This is why people have insurance (health, life, car, home, etc). Nobody wants to get sick/in a car accident/die, but if they don't plan for these things, someone else is going to have to foot the bill.

You're full of shit on this question. You went from parents not having insurance to abandoned children (per your reply to Chaltab). Obviously an abandoned child can be taken care of. Get them into a good, stable home and you probably won't have to worry about uninsured parents. By the way, not all forms of cancer or heart defects are cureable, so stop fooling yourself and others.

2. I told you before I don't know. I wasn't avoiding the question, I've simply never given it any thought. I don't see any problem with it on the surface. Then again, I happen to believe that children need a father and a mother.

3. No. I think Clinton would score better on a charisma test and I think he gets along better with the ladies, but that's about it.

4. Sure, discretely. Nobody has a problem with the ones that do it discretely. It's the ones that want to whip it out for the world to see that most people have a problem with. Hell, even my sister was borderline "whiping it out" when she fed her kids. Yeah, it was a little disturbing, but I never saw anything. My other sister, on the other hand, takes her kids to another room where she can have some privacy.

5. This is a State's rights issue and yeah, it should be left like that. Are you suggesting that people shouldn't try to get the law changed? I disagree with that. But yeah, it should remain a State's rights issue.

6. Scrubs of course.

Once again, none of this has anything to do with common sense (aside from the first question). Everything else is just a matter of opinion. You've picked items that probably mean a lot to you and now you're forming an opinion of me (and some others) based on our answers. We obviously don't hold the same opinions as you. We might come to the same conclusions sometimes, but that's probably based on different reasoning.

Common sense? Some of those questions had no relation at all to common sense and were merely asking about opinions. Common sense would be something like "Do you think it's ok to run people over?" or "Would you touch a hot blow torch and then sue the manufacturer?"

I'll have to answer these later. I'm about to head home right now. I don't think it'll really matter what my responses are though, you'll probably think I'm a dick either way.

EDIT: Actually, I think I can answer most of these now.

1. Depends on what the "medical treatment" is. A doctor cannot refuse treatment (at least in California). You might get stuck with a giant bill, but you won't be refused treatment. I guess I would want to know how/why the parents have no medical insurance (ie what situations arose that they decided to have a child without having the ability to take care of the child). That's mostly because I just can't imagine bringing a child into this world without having the ability to take care of it.

The simple answer will echo Chaltab's "only in emergencies"

2. I think Ann Coulter's funny. She obviously gets a rise out of the left, which is even funnier. She's got strong opinions and is not politically correct. For that, I salute her. I don't necessarily agree with everything she says, but I think she's funny.

3. Rush Limbaugh might be a little smug, but I'd probably be smug too if I had that much money. I don't listen to him much these days though. I tend to listen to 790 AM KABC talkradio (Doug McEntire, Al Rantell, Larry Elder).

4. Conservative in the classic sense? Obviously not. Far more Conservative than Clinton, Gore, and Kerry. He's no Ronald Reagan, but considering the alternative, I'd rather have him.

5. Only if you consider Al Gore and John Kerry equally as stupid. If I'm not mistaken, Bush had better grades in school. Sure, he's not as quick witted as Clinton was and he gets tongue tied at times, but that doesn't mean he's stupid. I find myself doing the same thing when I don't slow down and speak to fast. People usually know what he means, the left just likes to make him look stupid.

5. You have two questions fives. You're calling Bush a dunce? Who's the idiot now? To answer this question: I don't know. I never really thought about it. While I don't believe a homosexual lifestyle is right, I also don't think being gay is catchy.

6. Lee Harvey Oswald is attributed to the assassination. Whether or not he really did it, I don't know. I don't think there's a conspiracy though.

7. For anyone over 18 or 21, sure. Regulate it and tax it like Alcohol and Cigarettes. But I also think companies should be free to continue drug testing for it and not hire people that smoke it if they don't want.

8. Yes, I do think they should have that right. Personally I can't stand it and I think they're all evil though. This is a difficult question for me to answer though, since I always think to myself "If you take away their right to do it, what happens when someone wants to take away something I want to do?" Nevermind the Constitution, for me, it comes back to freedom of expression.

That's all I was saying. That's why we've scarcely gone back, why support for it pettered out to the point where we couldn't afford it after we had showed the Russians and planted the flag, and why there's not any further serious interest in the matter. Of course there is scientific matters before and since--NASA is not a US propaganda agency--but the primary motivation for "the space race" and thus the lunar landing was Cold War related (thats why it was a space race--you have to have an opponent); it took national and presidential backing, and it had very little to do with the exploration itself of simply going to the moon for the sake of it, the push that led to the support needed to actually accomplish the feat was entirely Cold War related. No need to get your panties in a wad for pointing out accepted historic fact.

In the end I guess the whole "we must go to the moon" thing reveals itself as the mere piece of Cold War propoganda that we all hoped it WOULDN'T be. We went there as a symbol of superior power to the communists, and were it not for the Russian space race there would be no incentive to do so. Sad, but all the optimism about it being to do with scientific and exploratory new frontiers I guess is BS in the end. Lets hope the terrorists vow to make a trip to mars--its the only way we'll get there!

Yeah, the primary reason to get a man to the moon was to show that we could do it. The Soviets had the same reason, they were just a lot unsafer about it. Go ahead and read up on the Russian space program sometime. They killed plenty of men in their quest to be first. That's the only reason they were first in a lot of things except the moon. Whoever could reach the moon first could also launch missiles at their enemy. Thankfully we won the race. Everything after that was icing on the cake and pretty much for scientific study.

It took 11 missions (crew died in the first and the next 6 were unmanned) to get to the moon. Everything after that was pretty much for scientific research. Do you really think the military would've funded something like that? They just wanted a rocket they could fire on Russia from the US.

The terrorist will never make a trip to Mars. They're to busy fighting themselves and everyone else to pull something like that off.

Yeah exactly....his crappy embellished film "FAHRENHEIT 9/11" was way off.......no wait, was it?

Maybe it was but i liked it when he asked these politicians to send their kids to Iraq, but none of them would ever do it,as JFK said in his speach "Ask not what your country can do for you,ask what you can do for your country" i guess this does not apply to them.

I don't think any of them were ever asked directly, afaik, and why would they send their children off? I've said it before, no one sends their children to war. People must be 18 to join and go off to war. At that point, they may still be your children, but we consider them adults capable of making their own choices. Why would anyone tell their adult children "Hey, I think you should join the military and go fight in a war". Maybe he should've asked them if they'd stop their children from joining the military.
