Aand, Fanboys get a victory!
Time
Zion said:

The 501st are especially pissed about Fanboys because they were actually in the movie. Apparently they volunteered costumes, as well as themselves as extras, to help shoot this ultra-low budget film.

What I find hilarious is how much their panties are in a knot over the change in direction of the film. Sure, it's pretty bad when someone like TWC steps in and says "we need more crude language and nudity in this film or it won't do well," along with trying to remove the cancer plot and make it just about crazy-ass fans who have nothing better to do than break into Skywalker Ranch. But some of those 501st guys are acting like it's an insult to them personally that the film has been changed - as if this sort of thing never happens in the film industry, and they wouldn't have volunteered to help make the film anyway. http://media.ign.com/boardfaces/25.gif Furthermore, they're saying that taking out the cancer plot is a direct insult to the founder of the 501st, whose daughter died of cancer last year. They really don't need to go there.

Sounds like typical 501st reaction. In the comments of that blog post, they claim to not be taking an official stance "as a legion" and that it's a few members doing it "on their own". Yeah, right, and those few members probably never invoked the 501st or anything like that.

Those guys are so full of it by saying they wouldn't have volunteered anyway. Any chance to dress up in their armor and they'll do it.

I'm a little surprised their comments are being made on a public website though. They're usually pretty careful to leave the bitching and moaning to either in person or the members only sections of their websites.

JEDI CON 2008-BEHIND THE SCENES CAST AND CREW INFO ON STAR WARS FILMING, DVDS AND OTHER BITS...

Waiting to see what happens? Waiting to see what happens?! First they were waiting to see what happens between Blu-ray and HD-DVD. Well, HD-DVD is now gone. There's nothing left to wait for! Everyone at the ranch must be totally brainless! Simply remaster the OOT in 1080p for a Blu-ray release and then use that same master to create HD downloadable files. This is not rocket science! Any idiot with a computer can do this these days (once they have the raw files anyway).

I cannot believe they're "waiting to see what happens". They're going to be waiting for the rest of time just to bait us along as long as they can. I'm not giving them another cent until they release the movies individually and in a boxed set.

Matthew 13:57-58 (58 is the important part).

57 "And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his native place and in his own house." 58 And he did not work many mighty deeds there because of their lack of faith.

I got your point C3PX. My point is that sometimes, no matter what you say or do, you're not going to convince people of things. That's just a fact. Jesus knew this. He didn't simply tolerate people who weren't willing to accept him no matter what he said or showed them. He simply left. Maybe modern Christians should do that more often, but it's a very difficult thing to do, especially when Christ commands us all to preach the good news. You can't give the good news without giving the bad.

Jesus didn't hang out with prostitutes, thieves, and murderers. Jesus converted them and then they were no longer prostitutes, thieves, and murderers.

Indiana Jones IV

George Lucas says his new 'Indiana Jones' is 'just a movie'

By Scott Bowles, USA TODAY
To hear him talk, you'd think George Lucas would have preferred to call his movie Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: Don't Get Your Hopes Up.
Lucas, who co-wrote and produced the May 22 film, can sound downright sullen when it comes to his expectations of fan reaction to the year's most highly anticipated movie.

"When you do a movie like this, a sequel that's very, very anticipated, people anticipate ultimately that it's going to be the Second Coming," Lucas says. "And it's not. It's just a movie. Just like the other movies. You probably have fond memories of the other movies. But if you went back and looked at them, they might not hold up the same way your memory holds up."

I don't know about him, but I love Raiders and Last Crusade each and every time I see it. ToD is the only one of the three that I've never really liked and even that one seems to get better with each viewing.

No George, they don't hold up to your memory. They hold up perfectly well to our memories. We do continue to watch them (what's this if crap, they're available on DVD and people have bought them), love them, and enjoy them. This is in contrast to the crapfest that is your PT. We can watch the Indiana Jones movies without cringing. We can't say the same thing for the PT.

*the Bible never even mentions abortion, let alone calls Christians to kill abortionist, it never says to hate homosexuals, only that homosexuality is a sin, the Bible teaches us to love everyone. It condemns liars, theives and prostitutes as heavily as it does gays, yet those are the kind of people Jesus chose to hang around. If you read through the new testament you'll find that it is all about tolerance. When "Christians" behave intolerantly they are not even obeying their own religious text.

Not quite. Jesus wasn't being tolerant, he was converting people by the thousands. That is why he and his message weren't put down so easily. Before him, there were other guys claiming to be the Messiah, but people weren't converting nearly as quickly. It wasn't so much about tolerance as it was speaking to them nicely and showing them the error of their ways and then demonstrating that he was the Son of God. Jesus, while not directly telling people they were sinners like the Pharisees did, was telling people that they had sinned, but then was telling them they were forgiven as long as they repented and accepted him as the saviour. Many thousands of people accepted him. So many accepted him on a daily basis that the Pharisees had no power to stop it.

There was only one place where Christ did not perform as many miracles as he could have. That was in his home town. This is in the Bible (I don't have the verse handy). He left his home town because no matter how many miracles he performed, they would not believe he was the Messiah.

All of the people you mention were converted by Jesus' mere presence. He didn't simply "hang out" with them and accept them the way they were as society would have us do today. He spoke to them and used parables to convince them that their way of life was wrong. They then converted, accepted him as the Messiah, and stopped living the way they had been.

Mother arrested for leaving children "unattended"
Time
Looks like she's suing now:

http://www.nbc5.com/news/15656729/detail.html

I don't agree with the lawsuit, but it's pretty obvious she's pissed. According to the article, she was stopped by a community service officer and then she was arrested by the police.

The article doesn't mention it, but she and her children were on Fox News yesterday (it was a news conference) and her kids are saying they were taken into the Walmart where an employee was asked to watch them (only the employee was watching them, no one else). I think I would be pissed by that alone. The Walmart employees don't have to pass any kind of background check to work there. The police, at that point, were basically trusting the employee to watch the children (trusting the employees more than the parents). No offense to anyone, but I don't trust anyone but family and our day care provider to watch my kids. I think that was a pretty risky thing for the police to do.

Yes, because all the office programs are affected.

Don't just look at the title of the update. Follow the link and look at all affected software. It's very likely that Word was affected by some update to Outlook as well.

I just went through this yesterday. I have Office 2007 installed and I got an update for Office 2003. The update affects all Office 2003 programs including the web components that I actually do have installed. So while I don't have Office 2003 proper installed, I do have part of it installed.

"Louis Leterrier had been interested in directing Iron Man (2008), but when Jon Favreau took that project Avi Arad offered him a sequel to Hulk (2003). In an attempt to depict their comic book films in the same universe, Marvel Studios gave 'Jr Robert Downey' a cameo as Tony Stark in this film."

This makes me want to puke green:
"The Incredible Hulk joined Toronto's Green-Screen initiative, to help cut carbon emissions and waste created during filming. Edward Norton had fun using a hybrid vehicle on set. Producer Gale Anne Hurd hopes the film will be a symbol of the drive to encourage less pollution from film productions."

There better not be any hippy-dippy save mother earth bullshit in this movie. Is anyone else sick of hollywood falling all over itself, to be more "green" than anyone else? Pat yourself on the back as you're flying your personal jets to NY for a weekend of shopping, f*#kers!

Lets be thankful they drive hybrids and then fly personal jets, instead of driving Hummers and then fly personal jets.

Let's be thankful when they drive hybrids and then use commercial airlines for transportation instead of personal jets. Until then, it's nothing more than pandering.

And of course there's going to be some kind of "go green!" message in the movie. Whether it's a closeup of a hybrid car or some actual lines in the script or both. Being green is the popular thing to do so of course they're going to do it.

10% of a billion is 100 million people. That's the number I've heard from some Muslims living in the states for the number of people that are extremists. "It's only about 10% of Muslims that are like this". Again, 10% of a billion is 100 million.

I don't know if that numbers accurate or not, but if it is, that's a lot of people with a lot of hate over something like a cartoon or something that's critical of their religious book. I don't hear a lot of Christians getting angry over flushed Bibles. Probably because our Bible is not our faith or religion. Sure, it's a document of it, but a flushed Bible can be replaced with another one.

I don't see this thread ending happily either. I've seen that picture of Hamas vs Israel before, but it was a Hamas soldier kneeling down behind a baby carriage with the Israel kneeling down in front of the baby carriage.

1:1 is break even (giving back 1 full copy of what you've downloaded). 2:1 is much better. Looks like your ratio is just over 2.5. I'd say that's pretty good, assuming you don't have a lot of leachers left.

I usually let mine go to about 2:1 unless there aren't any seeders. If I'm the only one, I have had cases where it gets to 5:1, but that's extreme. I also leave my computer on all the time. I also haven't seeded anything in a LONG time.

You might want to just stop seeding and see if anyone complains. I've done that before. If no one complains, then either no one cares or it's being seeded by someone else.

I don't like seeing children die either. However, that doesn't mean I'm willing to let the State intervene every time it's perceived that a child "is at risk". If you want to arrest a mother for going shopping and locking her kids in the car (whether it's hot or cold out), go right ahead. But if she's on her way back to her car, with her keys in hand, then I think it's just stupid to intervene. I think the "we didn't know if the child had been kidnapped or not" excuse they gave is a bunch of bunk. Sounds to me like they were looking for some excuse to justify the actions of a community service person.

Even if she had given them the name of the baby, who's to say that she isn't lying? She could show them her ID then give them any random name that matches her last name. Somehow, I don't think they were going to let her go based on that alone.

Look kids get kidnapped and/or die everyday. I don't care how far she away she was, several things could have happened to that baby including kidnapping, another car smashing into the van, the baby could have choked on something and died, or even just slip out of the seat and break it's neck. You cannot leave a child unattended at all, even to walk 15 ft, it is just not safe.

I get the feeling also that it was one of those "citizen on patrol" type of things.

There's a few things I have to say in response to this though:

1. Kidnapping - Highly doubtful. Even if someone wanted to take the car, they would've had to break a window. Most carjackers won't bother and most won't take a car if there's a child inside (they don't want kidnapping and carjacking).

2. Baby's don't just randomly choke while they're asleep (in a car seat). If they have a cold, they're more likely to start coughing a little, but unless they're eating, they're not likely to choke.

3. Have you seen modern car seats? Kids don't just "slip" out of them. They're buckled in pretty tight. Her 2 year old was in a car seat. The baby wasn't going to "slip out".

You cannot watch any child 100% of the time. It's just not possible. Depending on the environment (locked room that's child proofed, house with gates blocking hallways) you can leave a child unattended or at least less attended. We do it all the time. We close all the doors to other rooms and block off the kitchen. All the outlets that are accessible have safety plugs in them. A 2 year old is not a 1 month old. It's plenty safe to let a 2 year old roam around a room or house as long as there's nothing they can get into. Walking 30 ft away from a locked car with a 2 year old sleeping while strapped into a car seat is pretty safe. In 2 mins time, the likelihood of anything bad happening is extremely low.

Our society is so gripped with fear about anything bad happening to our children that we're ending up with a nation of pussies. Children are going to get hurt. Children need to get hurt from time to time. Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

DID YOU KNOW THAT IT WASN'T UNTIL 1987 THAT NASA STARTED MAKING THEIR EMPLOYEES WEAR HAIR NETS AND FILTER MASKS? I HAD A SCHOOL PRINCIPAL THAT HAD WORKED FOR NASA AT THAT TIME.

This doesn't surprise me one bit. After Columbia, when the new sensors were installed, my first thought was "Hmm, I wonder what's going to happen if they find out that that's been happening for a while". Lo and behold, that's exactly what had been going on. So for how many years was NASA essentially flying unsafely, but didn't know it? Again, I don't really blame them. They had no reason to look. I just think it's foolish to believe the Russians have a worse modern record then we do.

The lady even said that if she had gone into the store and been shopping, she would've absolutely deserved to be arrested. She hadn't even gone into the store though.

Child protection laws were meant to protect kids from parents that forget about them in the car while they do shopping or do whatever else, especially on hot days. Those laws were most certainly not meant for cases like this. As an example, there's a 3 minute limit in California for how long you can leave a child unattended in a car. I think it's set at 3 minutes because that's how long a car can take to heat up in the middle of summer.

To Skot and Zombie84 and LordJedi, remember I am expressing my OPINION.

For one the audio mix fades in and out at certain times, the video exposure to my taste was too dark....

Hey man, go for it! If you don't like the transfer, and it looks like your opinion is based solely on the transfer, then that's cool. My remark was just a sarcastic remark to the people that didn't like the DVD release because they digitally removed the glass. IMO, complaining about things like that is along the lines of complaining about the removal of matte lines from Star Wars (which I think is a stupid complaint).

I've honestly never heard anyone complain about the transfer on the Indy DVDs, so I was a little surprised when it was mentioned.

THERE'S A NUMBER OF THINGS THAT CAN HAPPEN TO A CHILD THAT HAS BEEN LEFT IN A CAR FOR EVEN JUST ONE MINUTE.

I have to agree with PSYCHO_DAYV.

Did any of you read the freaking story?! It was SLEATING outside. Her child was ASLEEP. Her other child wanted to put money into the salvation army can. She pulled up to a loading zone. Got out of the car and LOCKED the car. Her and her other child ran to the can (10 yards or 30 ft), put the money in, and then went back to the car. At that point, the officer actually kept them from getting back to the car.

I would normally defend the police ferris, as I've done plenty of times before, but in this case it was just overboard. The baby was asleep, the car was locked, she was 10 yards away, and the officer actually kept her from getting back to the car. She had to call her husband who told her not to say anything and when he got there she was in the squad car. She now faces up to a year in prison and a fine for "child endangerment".

Don't get me started about what can or can't happen to a child if left alone for even a minute DAVY. If the child is asleep and it's raining, I would've done the same thing. There's no need to wake up a baby and take it out into the rain when you're stopping and locking the car for less than a couple of minutes. A baby that's asleep and strapped into a car seat isn't going to go anywhere.

I also happen to know that the only thing my 15 month old has ever done is take off his shoes and socks (doesn't like wearing them for some reason). Other than that, I've left him in a locked car and he hasn't done anything. Locked car with no keys in the ignition.
