Thanks! Stay tuned because the edit is nearly updated. Boolio is still reduced but now speaks alien with subtitles. Falcon chess scene moved to the end. jonh’s final version of the force ghosts. No more brains in the snow line. No yellow lightsaber at the end (Rey is burying the weapons to focus on what Jedi use the force for: knowledge and defense). Snoke clones replaced with Palpatine clones. Imperial shuttle on Exegol. Falcon departure ending. Thanks to poppasketti!!! Updated force conversation between Ren and Palpatine. Improved cave serpent scene and lots of other tweaks based on input from viewers.

Below are all the lines Axlanian has in the proof of concept video. Except below I changed Kylo Ren to just Ren. And I added “never again” possibly to be chanted in response by the KoR.

When the KoR say “the Ren” they are referring to a specific lightsaber. If they just say “Ren” they are referring to their leader. That is itself a title of respect: Ren. Hence the Knights of REN. So no lord or master would be necessary. The KoR stray away from the ways of the Jedi and the Sith and would avoid using their terms.

In every instance in the films he is called “Kylo Ren” by various people incl Rey (and once called just Ren by Finn)… EXCEPT that one line I see now in TLJ that Hal mentioned where Rey calls him Kylo to Luke. So it really could go either way. The more formal sounding Kylo Ren, or the more familiar sounding Kylo. To me it sounds too familiar when the KoR calls him Kylo. But I’ll record it both ways. Or maybe all three ways (Ren). The KoR would probably just call him Ren now that I really think about it.

Personally I feel it would be awesome if more POC voiced main characters in SW (like the Knights of Ren) and not using ridiculous stereotypical bullshit voices like jar jar. If it’s possible we could really use a diverse sounding set of voices for the KoR.

Axlanian for my edit where I significantly trim the weird monkey elf, maybe I could use frame interpolation to slow down the first part of the mask reforging scene to give more room for the KoR “religious” dialogue.

EDIT: It’s my “you killed him” flashback insertion that would interfere with putting the group chant right after the staff striking the ground. But for other edits the group chant could go right after the staff hits the ground.

I read somewhere that that scene was originally intended to be a ritual, so maybe having all of the Knights saying that line together… maybe with someone being a little louder than the others. I don’t know how feasible it would be, but almost making it like chanting.

Darth Muffy several of your suggestions I had implemented, and I’m sure others will. And the above two ideas are quite good. I just implemented both of them.
Kylo would have had to jump out before the explosion and that’s a bit ridiculous. So I cut it.
Also the brains in the snow bit is too much. I cut that as well. It was simple and only required muting the center channel and blending into and out of the muted part. Thank you!

I’m surprised a lot more editors are not trying to do a delayed Palpatine reveal. Here’s an updated clip from TROS: Resurgence

In this clip Papatine’s first reveal in the film is by his voice. Ren’s dialogue is changed during his force convo with Palpatine to make it more antagonistic so he is not following Palpatine’s orders (thanks for the idea once again idir_hh). I added poppasketti’s establishing shot with the TIEs, and I trimmed a silly part on Mustafar when Ren lazily pokes a guy with a sharp thingy.

Ah yes I will see how Dom’s version of that comes out. Sounds good on paper. But when I tried my own version. I just didn’t quite like the first inkling of Chewie being alive coming solely from Rey’s senses (and Daisey’s acting in that particular scene).

But I do like Hal’s take on it too will see if I like it better.

axlanian have you received any audio clips yet or do you want them yet?

Also b48390, regarding the Chewie reveal I know how Hal has edited it and this seems to be how you prefer it. I significantly delayed the reveal but put it before Rey senses he’s still alive. Finding out things the same time as a character is one way to present info and have mutually shared surprises with them. Finding out something before they do can also satisfy the audience’s desire to know a secret the character doesn’t know yet. Which adds suspense and makes Rey sensing Chewie believable instead of wtf is she talking about.

Also I never really picked up on coneface being a metoo droid. Maybe that’s what the writers’ intention was and if it was that’s fine by me. TLJ has some animal rights stuff and pseudo-libertarian themes and I didn’t find them to be a distraction.

b48390 thanks for the detailed review. Really glad you appreciated the new overall scene structure. And as I make further changes I’ll look at your suggestions. I’m not a fan of too many cuts which would further reduce the length of the film. So I wouldn’t be doing things like removing Han. Star Wars needs to be a 2hr movie.

Yeah the word Rebellion is more appropriate for what you’re saying in your crawl. It sounds more widespread. Resistance feels smaller.
