The Indiana Jones Project (Released)
Time
What I was trying to get at was; I'd be downloading this set. Yes of course, even if it's a DVD or 2-disc DVD set, the quality will be lowered a little. BUt I'd rather download this project's DVD and sit down and watch everything, like you said Indy3. Then, if there's a doco I really enjoyed or something then I might go to the trouble of getting that in a single upload that somebody makes if the quality is significantly higher.

One more point; you mentioned a website that would support/promote this project (sorry can't think of the name right now ). The thing is, most of us here are knowledgeable with torrents and have downloaded multiple versions of the Star Wars OOT. But, to get this project to a wider audience, it would have to be a single DVD-R or 2-disc set, because, let's face it, the Indy fan-type newbies to torrents who hear about these docos, making ofs, would be better off downloading a single DVD (or two), because many people won't want to have to download 7 or 8 DVDs with one doc per disc.

My sentences have become very long, so here's my summary statement: I think many people (especially those who will eventually become aware of this via that site or others) would appreciate if we had the option of downloading this disc/set or if we're quality freaks, to go and download everything separately.

And on the parodies, I see why you're adding them, but if they will take up too much space, and force you to reduce the quality on the other, more important parts of the project, then I think that you should only include the funniest ones (that we all know), or the rarest ones. So, just a handful of funny/rare parodies, rather than attempting to collect all of them (though someone may attempt a "Indiana Jones: The Parodies DVD" project one day ).

Looking forward to this, so keep working on it!

People can't be stopped from uploading their own versions of things. I believe due to this thread we will see individual Indy docs and making ofs finding their way to torrent sites.

However, I reckon the compilation DVD project should still be continued, as a means for the people who use bittorrent that can;t download hundreds of gigabytes of stuff - whether that be due to download limits or speed restrictions, or whatever else. Also, some people might just prefer having all of them without having to go to the trouble of downloading them separately.

So, it should be simple. This project should continue, but others should upload any HQ rips of things that they have if they want to.

-Klokwerk, it looks great. I’m still kind of flabbergasted that I have one of the best (if not the best) covers created for a fan edit, even better than the MagnoliaFan covers, and I haven’t even released it yet. I’m flattered!

Awww shucks. *embarassed*
Thanks. I guess, given the feedback so far, that everyone likes the cover as is, even the fix (which I don't consider perfect, but still think looks okay). I'll go ahead and start on an inksaver cover now I guess.... *toddles off to Photoshop CS2*

It's also nice to get an update on the project. And get a bit of a tease concerning your edits for I and III.

Alfredsson,

What's the quality like on your set? And if I'm not mistaken it was the workprint & international cuts along with the doco, yes? If you know a little about BR, could you please explain to me (via PM if you wish) the difference between the theatrical & director's cuts compared to the international. My understanding is that the international is an extended/more violent version of the theatrical cut, yes? In any case, please PM me as I would like to obtain this set.

Also, just wanted to congratulate everyone on doing this. I didn't catch the donation info, but I am very interested in the project and can't wait to see how it turns out. To those organising this; will the LD packaging be scanned? I'm sure that a nice jewel-case cover could be made from some hi-res scans of the packaging. I can understand if it's unopened that this won't happen, but I think it's a used LD, isn't it?

Laserman,

I'd be interested if you could PM me about the newsgroup scene and how to get started. Also, is it true that you reside in Australia? I am in Australia and have long wanted someone whom I could possibly get the SW DVDs from (fan-edits, preservation discs, etc), because the torrents chew up my download limit, and paying for postage from America is ridiculous. Please PM me so that we can talk further.

I don't have a collection worth showing pics of... but the mention of a life-size boba fett made me remember something...

There is a store somewhere (i've got its website bookmarked somewhere), that has (maybe had) a life-size Darth Maul. Its price was about $2500. Sorry, that I can't remember, but it was here in Australia, and so that price is AU$. Does that sound like something any of you would purchase because I can find the link (maybe).

The 2 minor discrepencies(sp?) that Commander Courage mentioned have been removed. They were simply 2 text layers that I forgot to "turn off" before making the preview image. So if you didn't see them; don't worry about it.

I've started on the lightsaber-fix, might take a while (sorta difficult and I have schoolwork to take care of), keep posting constructive criticism and I'll release an updated pic sometime in the near future.

I agree, the "Trooperman's" on the front is just a placeholder for a visual style, meant to turn it off before I uploaded a flattened jpg. Will re-upload the image sometime later tonight.

Much the same with the "TM" on the spine. I started this cover's ".psd" file as a template to "recreate" the episode I & II DVDs' layout because I was doing a mock Episode III cover. I don't know about the US DVDs but we had the "TM" after the titles on the spines for I, II, & IV-VI. However, merely an oversight and will be removed when I reupload the image.

For the lightsaber, well I took the teaser image for Episode II and recolored it slightly to fit the "orangey" tone of the poster. I will have a go at shortening it somehow, because I myself thought it too be ridiculously long when I first saw the image. Maybe Anakin's trying to compensate for something lol. I don't know how well I'll be able to do it, so we'll see how it goes, hey?

Thanks for the praise.

Hey all,

Since I'm busy with school, I've only been reading the thread and not participating too much. However, here is something that I think you'll enjoy...
Below is the 9th incarnation of my DVD cover for SOTDS. Remember, this is not the final version. Also, by "incarnation" I mean significant layout and spellchecks. My idea for this version of the cover has always been; similar to the offical DVD covers, but slightly different. I'm welcome to criticism, also know that I have another version ready to be worked on that will satisfy the ink-conscious and also take on a different (and simpler) layout.

Anyway, enough blabbering, here it is...

Emule is a bit difficult to handle at my place, perhaps if anybody manages to get those files they could upload 2 separate torrents at MySpleen? The movie might be pushing it, but the doco would definitely be allowed. A 4-hour OOP doco ripped from LD sounds right up the Spleen's alley.

I really want them!!

Ah okay. I just read about both of them containing footage from the preview screening. Apparently (done some more reading now), the DVD is the most complete that we'll ever see as Universal got rid of the archival footage some years ago. The sourced as much material as they could - but footage that featured in the preview (including a whole song performance) that's now gone, shall not be seen again.
