What the? If they're doing it as DVD-18, not only is it a flipper, but it would most likely include the 4hr doco, as the DVD-18 format is massive in storage space. However, if they can do that - why don't they just do it as a 2-disc set? DVD-18's aren't as common and I would think would cost more to produce, and they break easier than standard DVD-9s. THey also are reported to have a lot of problems whilst playing. This is a bizarre piece of info.
Well, I can confirm that webdocs 1-6, 8-10 & 12-15 don't have any ESB stuff. My copy of 7 doesn't work (corrupt) so I can't tell you about that one. I don't have the last 3 either (18-20).
Webdoc 11: "Becoming Obi-Wan" has some ESB footage, but it's ripped directly from the DVDs (at least I think it is). The same goes for Webdoc 16: "Going to the Dark Side" & Webdoc 17: "Endlessly Compelling". Have a look through those if you can.
Interestingly, there isn't that much BTS stuff in these webdocs, and if there is ever any footage taken directly from the OT films, it's usuall Star Wars or Return of the Jedi. ESB gets left out a bit.
Can anyone clear this up: the press release says that the Episode III DVD will include the 15-part web-documentary series. There are 20 installments. I hope this is just an oversight in the details as I know I'd feel ripped off if not all 20 parts were included on the DVD. I'm sure they will be though.
Another dickhead who has no knowledge about our world. Rikter provides material that is not commercially available and if something does become commercially available he pulls the disc/s out of circulation. Rikter may be prominent around here for that but he's not the only one to spread discs. MagFan made fan-edits of the first 2 Star Wars prequels, and Lucas has said that he doesn't mind people doing this as long as they're not profiting from it. He even edited films himself when he was young.
Quite simply, everything done here is out of love of the Star Wars franchise, and everybody whose downloaded any fan-edits, unreleased material or LD-Rips, is sure to own a set of the Star Wars films on official VHS, LD or DVD - some people on this board have bought 20 versions, all legal and official, of these films over the years. You cannot say that they aren't supporting Lucasfilm/Star Wars.
You are a lowlife piece of shit. End of story.
You know what's worse? You are calling people from OT.com forums to give you 'dirt' on these people. OT.com forums are where Rikter & MagFan hang out and they have a huge fanbase here. You're picking a fight with a lot of people. Further, you're carrying out this pointless crusade on the MF forums? That is THE place for anyone looking to find the latest news/links on any pirated Star Wars material that has found its way online.
If you read that DigitalBits snippet again, while it doesn't list them scene for scene, Forever does have "deleted scenes" as one of its features. Not sure how many though. I want to see what cover art they come up with as I'm sure they'll be bad.
There are ways to "blur out" subtitles or partially remove them. However, it makes the video look bad as a result - not to mention having to re-encode. Just watch it with the subtitles. I guess I'm kind of impartial to them because I have been learning Japanese (4 or 5 years now). I cannot understand a lot of Japanese subtitles (there's a LOT of kanji I don't know), but it's somewhat of a learning tool for me. That and the fact that most of the anime I've seen was in its fansub incarnations first then dubbed DVDs later on.
To get back on-topic; I am still looking forward to this project, and the fact that they will be single docs per disc for highest quality and will remain in their original format (which for most would be NTSC) is very good to hear.
I can't wait to see this thing. I'm very busy with my final year of school atm so I haven't been posting much. BUT, I had to pop in and say "Thanks in Advance!" as I'd always hoped someone would fix this disaster-of-a-Batman-movie.
Oddly enough, the new box set coming out in October featuring the first 4 Batman films in 2-Disc Special Editions, was rumored to have an extended 150-minute Director's Cut of Batman Forever. Apparently the idea was thrown about, but ultimately they decided not to do it. In terms of Batman Forever, do you guys think it's bad enough to warrant an edit (much like what Greencapt has done for Batman & Robin)? Or is decent enough to warrant an extended cut?
eliasbboy: You should upload the Geordie Star Wars you have. It's never been torrented (that I know of) and if it is indeed newly composited with DVD-ripped video it should be worth it.
Also; to anyone wanting to upload any torrents, MySpleen is great for Star Wars stuff... but sometimes it does take forever for uploads to be allowed. Go to The Pirate Bay and upload them there.
ReverendBeastly; have you scanned them yet? Because I was told once that you should scan at 600dpi. Then after the image has been scanned, to change the dpi to 300. That way it's slightly better than scanning them in at 300dpi. Also, are you scanning directly to jpg? Or will you scan to .bmp/.tiff? In any case, couldn't you get someone to upload a torrent of the scans? Although... that's probably not best (copyright stuff). Sorry but I can't offer webspace. But I can suggest sharing systems like YSI or similar.
digitalfreaknyc: I've read a lot of your posts and I am so glad to hear you have high-quality versions of practically everything, but why haven't we seen these yet? Are you unable to upload them?
Ah okay. I can imagine what that would look like. So, it's a giant lenticular of the image of the face coming out of a wall (you know what I mean anyway). That would be a cool poster to own .
I see that you're going to eventually release the cover, that's cool. However, I was wondering; do you have HQ versions of the posters? I figured you would have since you must have used them on the cover, but of course those images could've been those sizes originally and therefore not HQ. Please let me know either here or by PM. Thank you very much!
Was just looking at the BH001 cover again that you posted earlier... does the "babyhum" written across the bottom of the spine fit? It might be the size making my eyes view it wrongly, but it doesn't look like it would fit across the width of the spine, that it might end up on the front and back cover instead of only on the spine. Just wondering.
So, there are scenes in the "Epic" that aren't in the "Trilogy", and scenes in the "Trilogy" that aren't in the "Epic"? I'm reading it now... just a long read.
Indy3 will you be designing the menus? As I understand it, digitalfreaknyc gives you the docs (still not sure if they're already in DVD format or not), and then you add menus, and upload them as separate torrents, correct?
I'm really looking forward to these releases. Will there be a unified menu/cover design for all releases? Like Babyhum's new releases I mean.
I'm not informed when it comes to the specs of the Superman DVD releases. I'm told that the "Making of" for Superman II isn't on the official releases, but I'm not sure about Superman I. Is that "Making of" available on the DVD at all?
Well, high-quality scans of the packaging should happen first, for the cover-makers out here.
So, judging by what digitalfreaknyc has said, we might be better off preserving this set, getting the other sets and preserving them, then maybe doing a fan-edit to composite all the different bits in pieces that aren't in each set.
So the plan now, is to switch these to a "Babyhum" style release system? DigitalFreakNYC contributes the docs and Indy3 uploads them? Or does Indy3 need to make each file into a DVD? I don't understand if they're already separate discs, in DVD format or not.
Was just wondering though, is the "Making of the SE" split into 3 parts - one for each movie? I seem to recall a set of the SE that I owned on video, that had a making of at the beginning of each tape. I always thought each one was different, in that they had a part for each movie. Can somebody clear this up for me please?
It's worthwhile preserving the OSE (not as worthwhile as the OOT - but still, there were a fair number of changes made to the trilogy for the 2004 DVDs). Anyway, I too would like to know what the contents of the Bonus disc are.
