Info Wanted: Blade Runner Fans...
Time
That's a good idea Tweaker. I'm only just going into University, but my English teacher from high school might has access to some Blade Runner stuff used for film study. I'll have to see if she knows/can get a hold of this book.

There's also a sort of companion book to this I just recently found out. It's called "The Blade Runner Sketchbook". Now I'm anxious to do hi-res scans of both books. However, since I'm pretty sure both books are OOP, it could be an expensive thing to do. Let's hope someone around here can find a copy they have access to.

Info: Where do you draw the line?
Time
I do not mean to speak for everyone, but in the case of Blade Runner, I intend to get a copy of DigitalFreak's 2-disc set. While I believe we should be free to have these discs (as anybody could've recorded the HD version from TV for personal use) I do own the official R1 DVD. Even if I didn't I would still get this disc as it is of far greater quality than either of the retail DVDs (which as I understand it are deleted titles).

Warner has repeatedly stated over the years that a Special Edition DVD will see the light of day. They are starting up these statements again, preparing to have this DVD ready for the 25th anniversary of Blade Runner in 2007. I believe that the many members here will cease to share the DigitalFreak discs when the Special Edition eventually surfaces. As is the case in this community, creators of fan DVDs usually put an end to the distribution of their discs once a retail version is made available. Rikter mentions this any time such a retail DVD appears. There are many Star Wars discs, for example, that he's stopped burning/distributing due to official releases ocurring.

In the meantime though, for those of us who want to see Blade Runner in its best possible presentation, DigitalFreak's DVD of the HDTV broadcast is a big step up from the retail discs that came out during the youth of DVD. You should also bear in mind that many of the people who will get this disc already own an official version of the movie in one format or another (VHS, LD or DVD). It is our appreciation of Blade Runner that drives us to want these DVDs. Once the "Blade Runner: 25th Anniversary Special Edition" is released I will definitely destroy my DVD-Rs of the HDTV DVD and purchase the official DVD.

Right now, the fact that I already own the movie means I should be allowed to have a higher quality version of that same movie. As for the extras, I don't believe any of them are commercially available. This means they fall under the banner of "Titles that have not yet been officially released" and since they cannot be bought, they cannot be pirated.

What is "Robot Masters", anyway? Just their name for Headmasters?

Well, no actually. I think, rather than trying to explain the whole 'Robot Masters' thing myself, you should read this Wikipedia page that explains it pretty well.

In short, the DVDs (of which there were only a few) told the story from the online comic and it is a chance to see our favorite Transformers all together in one conflict. The CG isn't bad, but not the best. Still a lot of fun. I was actually considering translating the online comic. After all, the Japanese is fairly basic and the comic is relatively short.

Everybody:
I know this is a newbie question, but how do I get the quote function to say "Guiltyspark wrote:" instead of just "Quote"?

I was just wondering if anybody owned the book featured in this e-bay auction. It seems like it contains a stack of storyboards and I’d love to see them. Unfortunately this book is already too expensive for me to buy (and still has 4 days to go) but maybe someone here already owns it. If not, perhaps someone with money to spare might want to pick it up?

It appears to be very rare and would be worthwhile for any collector’s. As I said though, my interest is in the promise that it contains storyboards for the <span class=“Bold”>entire</span> film. I thought it would be nice to scan them and include them as a special feature on any of the fanmade BR DVDs or something. Please let me hear your thoughts on this.

Superman II and Superman III extended (Released)
Time
I'm unsure as to how 14 works out. Currently it looks like the set will include:

1 & 2 - Superman: The Movie (2-Disc Special Edition)
3 & 4 - Superman II (2-Disc Special Edition)
5 - Superman II: The Donner Cut (1-Disc)
6 & 7 - Superman III (2-Disc Special Edition)
8 & 9 - Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (2-Disc Special Edition)
10 & 11 - Supergirl (2-Disc Special Edition)
12 & 13 - Superman Returns (2-Disc Special Edition)

Though that only makes 13. Maybe there will be an additional bonus disc that covers all the films with a documentary? In any case, while we can enjoy the recent batch of Superman discs for now (that Rikter and DFNYC have spread) it's nice that they'll finally be getting "Special Edition" treatment.

'13-30 Extraflirty' fan edit (Released)

boon23:
Might I suggest that you include the "Making Of a Teen Dream: Another Take" featurette from the R2/R4 DVDs for 13 Going On 30 on the DVD for your edit, as the majority of this community is American and the retail R1 DVD doesn't include this featurette. If you consider this 'piracy' then it doesn't matter. Just a thought.

By the way, please check out my latest covers in my thread and let me know if they look complete/have the right specs so that I can get them uploaded. Thanks.

Klokwerk's CBB DVD Covers Thread (3 Covers + Disc Art Available)
Time
PSYCHO_DAYV:
The revised "Doomed by the Boogeyman" cover will only feature minor text alterations on the back cover. They are small changes to make it fit with the slightly revised template I am now using. Apart from a few rearranging of words, the Screen Gems logo will be replaced by the DVD Video logo as I no longer want to include studio logos on these covers. So very minor changes. By the way, I am glad you like the covers.

Also, for those of you who like to print art onto your Fan DVDs, I will provide some basic DVD label jpgs that are designed to complement my covers.

Well, I've finished (I think so, anyway) my covers for High Tension: Minus One and WOTW:TEC.

It took a while to complete the High Tension cover because while I was working on mine Rikter finished and uploaded one that used the same artwork mine was using. So rather than have a very similar cover to his, I changed my idea. It is now based on a "Switchblade Romance" poster. Unfortunately, I got distracted whilst working on it and accidentally flattened the blood splatter layers onto the art. This means that although I would have liked to remove some of the blood on the front title and the spine, I am completely unable to.

My War of the Worlds: TEC cover uses the same art for the front as the official CBB cover, but it is a slight variation (from a lower quality source too it would seem). However, I think that there's not enough need to change it. I also used a piece of art for the back that has been used on several other customs for the retail WOTW DVD, but I feel that it works nicely (I'd say it suits the edit, but I've not yet seen it).

Previews of both of these covers can are shown below. Please comment and once I determine them to be complete I will get them hosted online somewhere (along with a revised Doomed by the Boogeyman cover).

CBB006 - High Tension: Minus One Edit (Preview #01):
Image removed due to the cover being complete. See first post in this thread for the latest covers.

CBB008 - War of the Worlds: The Extinctive Cut (Preview #01):
Image removed due to the cover being complete. See first post in this thread for the latest covers.

'13-30 Extraflirty' fan edit (Released)

I am unfortunately once again beaten by time. The DVD cover created by "Castor & Troy" uses the same image for the front as mine, though I used a variation of the image and made it more of a portrait style to encompass the whole front cover. I will upload a preview of mine and see what you guys think. Needless to say I love that cover. I have to get quicker with these.

Anyway, now that I'm back, 3 of my CBB covers will be finished and previewed in my thread (High Tension, WOTW and either Hannibal or Matrix). So keep an eye out for them.

However, I really need some hi-res stuff stills. I thought I could just have the Face Mask on the front, light shining on it, perhaps something behind it (like how it is presented in the film for the first time). However, the closest to hi-res for that is the cover of the UK Hannibal Lector Collection DVD Boxset. I don't suppose anybody has this set and would be willing to scan it at 1200dpi for me?
http://www.geocities.com/klokwerk17/hannibal_facemask.jpg
The only other option would be to buy a replica face mask, take some photos to use for a cover and then resell it on ebay. Though that would cost money and I know my family would be very suspicious to see such an object in my mail.

I think the High Tension covers will be finished soon (after I get back from a week or so of holiday - I leave in a couple of days). I'd like to have those fonts I mentioned previously, but no such luck with sites, IRC or torrents. Looks like I need a saviour from the newsgroups. Otherwise the covers will have to use lower-quality, less-creative versions of what I had wanted to do. In any case, I may post previews for the High Tension covers soon. We'll see.

***//BUILDING EMPIRE\\: PAL &amp; NTSC DVD - NEW EDITION NOW ONLINE! ***
Time
Jambe Davdar:
I mentioned somebody a while ago with much Star Wars content. I have just recently found that he is getting the current version of 'Building Empire' in a trade. I asked him about an 'exclusive Anthony Daniels interview' he has and he says that he talks about all 3 OT films. I was kind of hoping you might contact him and ask for a copy so you can use it in 'Building Empire' v2.0 and perhaps 'Returning to Jedi'. I've PMed you with his email address.

Hi again. For "High Tension" I was wondering which DVD you used. I am thinking you might have used more than 1 DVD and I need to know which studio logo to use on the cover. I am also classifying it as a "thriller", I hope this is fine.

Everyone:
I would appreciate it if someone could provide the NFO & CBB's DVD cover for CBB-004. I am also in need of the very cool CBB-007 DVD cover (the bluish one). If anyone can send me these please do so. My email address is klokwerk at gmail dotcom. Thanks.
