ORIGINAL STAR WARS TRILOGY OUT 09/2006 BY LUCASFILM

It's been speculated by some over at HTF that the crawl as well as the other OOT clips were most likely taken from a video rather than a film source.

I linked to a ComingSoon.net article in Jambe Davdar's "Returning to Jedi" thread. It mentions the OOT/OUT sections (ie. the crawl) and where they came from I think...

//RETURNING TO JEDI\\: NTSC & PAL DVD
Time
I know the following contributions might not be great, but maybe you can find something worthwhile in them...

ComingSoon has an MP3 of Mark Hamill talking about Lucas' supposed plans for a sequel trilogy (this is his idea from the 80's - not now). That can be found on this page. I'm not sure if the link will still work, if not let me know and I can dig up my downloaded copy (maybe).

The Q&A sessions that the above comments were taken from is described at length in a 4 part text feature (with quotes). You can read that by going to part 1, part 2, part 3 and part 4. The first page links to an mp3 with comments from Lowry and Jim Ward on the film restoration and possible screenings respectively.

All of the above is regarding a Q&A session that took place shortly before the release of the 2004 DVDs. The mp3s are only extracts but perhaps some of the quoted text might be useful. For example, there's a bit towards the end where Kershner is asked if he was ever considered as director for ROTJ.

EDIT: I've just discovered that the links to the MP3s no longer work. If you'd like these mp3s (I know for certain I have the Mark Hamill one somewhere - not sure about the other one though) then please let me know and I'll start searching. Who knows, I may even find some other material that could be of some use.

MPEG2 in Premiere?
Time
More specifically suited to your needs (although Video ReDo is great and I use it from time to time) is the MainConcept MPEG Pro HD v1.05 Adobe Premiere Pro Plugin.

This is what is said about it:
MainConcept MPEG Pro is a full-featured MPEG editing solution for Adobe Premiere Pro. Although Premiere Pro will import MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 material, it does not offer native MPEG editing or smart MPEG rendering. This means that MPEG data needs to be converted to another format (such as DV) for editing, and each frame must be re-rendered even if no changes have been made. And if your target format is MPEG, you'll need to convert your finished project back to MPEG. The MainConcept MPEG Pro plug-in eliminates these limitations and turns MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 editing into a productive, high-quality workflow.

I have this but have not had time to try it out yet (uni ends in a few weeks). Hopefully you can make some use of it though.

Idea & Info: 'RoboCop - The Auxiliary bonus discs' project...
Time
As much as these sort of projects appeal to me (I usually buy several different DVDs of the films I buy, to get all the extras and best audio/picture), we aren't really allowed to talk about them. I've made several "compilation editions" of films incorporationg all the special features from numerous DVD releases (ie. Underworld, Halloween, Evil Dead, etc) but only in the cases where I own the official DVDs I use to make them (and I keep mine to myself). However, as Moth3r and Jay have pointed out before, taking material from official DVD releases and rereleasing it via P2P, torrents, PiF, etc, is illegal and not tolerated on the boards.

I'm not meaning to have a go at you. And by all means if you ever do this for yourself then great (as long as you own the DVDs), I just don't want to see you get into trouble. Still, if you have any unreleased/unavailable documentaries for Robocop, make a disc of those and let us see it.

Does anyone know of a way to change the dimensions of a Premiere project (so that I can just substitute my source files with the anamorphic DVD files) while still keeping all the edits intact? (I don't think Premiere allows you to change the dimensions once you've created a project.)

Unfortunately, I think you're out of luck there. I use premiere for my video-based projects and I was frustrated once that I couldn't change the dimensions. Granted I am maybe .5 of (or even a whole) version behind - so it might've changed since then. There might be a way around it. I think I imported sequences from one project into another somehow and that might help you out. Good luck with it though - and welcome to the forums btw (since I haven't said it yet).

I'm not grabbing this at the moment, but I must applaud you after reading through this thread. It's always good to see these kinds of edits (ie. a labour of love). I'm sure someone here can give you advice on rotoscoping. However, from other people's responses, it seems this is a great edit regardless. I think that's the challenge; to create an edit that significantly improves or changes the original film. There are a lot of edits out there that don't do this, sounds like yours does.

Help: looking for... SFX000, SFX001, SFX002 & Jason Goes to Hell: Extended
Time
Thanks for the giving me an idea of the differences, Jabberdoo.

I guess it would be cool to get a hold of Part 5 v2 and also the Part 6 TV Cut. However, the reason I asked for Part 4 Uncut and JGTH: Extended was because I had been promised those discs. I really want to check out the JGTH disc and wish somebody here could help me out. Please let me know if you manage to get the other ones (Part 5 v2, Part 6 TV Cut) onto DVD. I'd be interested in them too.

Thanks again.

Proposed project: Buffy the Vampire Slayer (TV show)

I don't know just how much of a buffy fan you are, but the R4 (and probably R2) discs are widescreen. Although the widescreen versions are not the 'original' versions, they might help when trying to remove credits or other stuff from the shots.

Also, these widescreen versions, just to clarify, contain more picture not less (i.e. they are not the fullscreen episodes matted to widescreen).

I knew Part 4 was finalized as a DVD (that and the TV Spots DVD are the ones I'm requesting). However, I was curious about JGTH and whether it had ended up on DVD yet or not. From what you're saying, I guess not. Perhaps you can shed some light on what's different about "Part 5 Version 2" and the "Part 6 TV Cut"?

Help: looking for... SFX000, SFX001, SFX002 & Jason Goes to Hell: Extended

Hi everyone. I know that is considered bad form to request discs in the forum publicly. However, I was supposed to get SFX000 and possibly SFX001 and SFX002 (segaflip’s Friday the 13th discs for those who don’t know) a long time ago from a member here on the forums. That member had some real-life issues to deal with and I never received the discs. I don’t blame him or want to say he’s a bad person or anything - just that I was really looking forward to the discs.

So, would someone be willing to send me these 3 discs? I must warn you that I live in Australia and am currently unable to trade/PIF due to not having any blank DVDs or cash (damn uni life!). It would be especially nice to get these now, as it’s my birthday next Wednesday. If anyone’s willing to share the F13 goodness, please PM me.

Finally, I wanted to ask if any progress was ever made on the “Jason Goes to Hell: Extended” idea. I bought and watched the R1 Unrated Widescreen disc the other day and remembered that it was talked about on here - did it ever come to fruition?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

I wonder how that guy feels actually. I don't recall his username, but the guy who was doing the "Legacy Edition" that ocp mentioned. From his website I gathered that he has spent quite a bit of time already fixing up the botchy FX in the SEs (as ocp described). If you're on here, will you keep working on the "Legacy Edition"? I am merely curious.

Star Wars DVD Covers

DarthVong hopefully you haven't been deterred from the forums already. That would be a shame. I can't wait for the Jedi preview (both the New Hope and Empire ones look great).

pmcau, you might want to turn on your PMs. It's not that I'm sending you the cover - because it's not available yet. It's just that we're in the habit of telling the new members to turn 'em on.

The Thief and the Cobbler: Recobbled Director's Cut (Released)

The films I'm choosing are mostly those without decent documentaries on DVD or I'd like to put out more information on. "Thief" would definately be in one episode. I'm basically going with rare films, underrated, and good/great films that don't have proper documentaries on DVD (like the Paramount Marx Bros. films). ...I know I'll be doing A Boy Named Charlie Brown (VERY underrated film) and maybe Raggedy Ann and Andy. I might even make "Thief" the first episode so it can go with the final Recobbled Cut.

OgOggilby, that sounds intriguing. Guess I'll be popping in to GBS-TV again.
