Halloween H20 ratio help!!!
Time
What you want to do is what many people have done to the 2006 GOUT edition of the Star Wars trilogy. That is; make anamorphic widescreen (ie. 16x9) video out of a letterboxed source. I think there's a thread around here somewhere. Mothe3r may be able to point you in the right direction.

I personally would track down a copy of the R2 UK DVD on ebay. While the R4 is anamorphic widescreen it has a few artifacts. The R2 UK DVD has a better transfer (and is still 16x9).

Info: The NEW 007 DVD's
Time
I believe the US boxsets have mixed up the titles in an effort to get Bond fans to buy every box. Here in Australia we had the 20-movie (40-disc) set in a box and in an attache briefcase. Both used single-width 2-disc amaray cases. Whereas, our smaller boxes were one for each of the three main actors: Sean Connery box, Roger Moore box and a Pierce Brosnan box. People who bought those boxes miss out on Lazenby and the two Dalton films.

I myself forked out the riddiculous price for the briefcase as I had never bought the original DVDs or the Special Editions. That being said... I am working on a DVD that will use the SE, UE and SE Laserdisc for one of the films. I just need to find someone with either the particular SE LD and/or the means of digitally capturing the audio (DD5.1 and DTS) from the laserdisc.

Got the PM. Thanks a bunch, Sluggo. Here is my revised reconstruction...
http://img261.imageshack.us/img261/2917/edmonomixrc2cd4.jpg

As for what's new in this one compared to the old one, I have:
* Added in a hi-res version of the TIE vs X-Wing shot (also color-corrected it) to replace the low-res upsize of the scan
* Added in the 3 framed pics (used color-matching to get rid of the green color-cast they had and they now look like the original scan)
* Utilized the "Star Wars" logo from MoveAlong's TSOSW cover (resized slightly and spaced to match the ED one almost exactly)
* Changed the Tatooine pic to the one I got from Erikstormtrooper. While it doesn't have the same amount of image as the ED version it is nice and clear and I've got a temporary solution in place that looks fine.
* Edited the Audio Information box's text so that it correctly describes the three tracks (same with the Special Features list) - I can change this back if need be, but it's accurate now.
* Reworked the ED logo to provide a nice, sharp version that is not blurry (and is solid black, not grey)
* I used color-matching on the ED label to get a color scheme on the front art that is much closer to the ED version.
* Added a basic starfield to the back cover and made sure it was showing through all the solid black (it doesn't show in this tiny preview of the cover though).

Sluggo/Editdroid: what else is there left to do? I reckon I just need to get the starfield right and perhaps find that slightly-more-image version of the Tatooine matte painting (though that's not as important as the starfield). Let me know what you think and if you have that image send it on through.

Actually, I've just looked at the two versions side-by-side and think that I'll need to fiddle with the colors on the Tatooine shot if that other version can't be found.

I actually tried searching for the type of program you're talking about a little while ago... unfortunately, I never did manage to find anything. I'll be sure to watch this thread in case someone else knows of one as I'd still really like a program like this. I mean, there are a few programmers on the forums... perhaps they'd be willing to try and write something? I'm not being naive as more ambitious projects have been talked about.

Wish I had the Laserman cover disc. However, I've been told by others that it's not on there.

Erikstormtrooper, thanks for the matte painting. Have any more? I love getting images like this!

Edit: Strangely, it seems that the Editdroid version of the Tatooine shot has more of the planet. If I align the image you gave me, it matches... but the bottom half of the planet is there on the ED one and not this one. Odd. I tried stretching the bottom of the planet and that how I've done it for now... but is there a different version of this image floating around that has more to it on the bottom? ...Actually, the low-quality shot I'd been using has that extra image too. Hrm.

Sluggo, yeah I figured. I did an inside joke like that for my original mock-up cover for Star Wars Episode III. I should dig that out as I can't remember what barcode I used. It might have been Thumb Wars... not 100% on that though.

Star Wars Prequels/Original Trilogy: The Complete Scores (Released)

There are flac links on that page. Are these out-of-date flac files? Or have you uploaded the new ones already. Just I have the DVD, the OST and the UE and so I'm quite anxious to get my hands on these two sets in the best quality possible (yes I'm aware that due to videogame stuff and DVD rips being used there may be lower quality bits but these will be worth it anyway).

Superman by Taolar (Formally: Son of Jorel) WORKPRINT AVAILABLE

I'm happy either way - with or without "the people". But I have to say that I like v2 much better. It's the perfect edit for the scene now, imho. I agree that the cut away from Reeves and to the shot of the bus feels rushed but it's the only way to get rid of the goofy grin - which is an important thing to get rid of as it doesn't sit well.

I have no idea what the Reeve reaction clip is from. Spider-Man? Lol.

As for the deleted scene, isn't that scene in the film? Or is there a similar scene and I'm just getting confused?

What GoodMusician is doing is re-editing the film to fit the original cues based on scripts, notes, etc. Which could be released as a DVD itself. Just the film re-edited to fit the original score with that as the sole track. In the bits of silence there could be text or audio commentary from John Williams or even GoodMusician describing all the edits he made. Would be interesting to see this way. I took a look at his "Battle for Naboo" reconstruction and thought it was quite interesting.

But anyway, yeah, the guy who did the isolated score I'm talking about... he re-edited the official DVD into the theatrical cut and then edited together an isolated score that matches the film as it is now with all the tracked music and choppy edits that are present in the music thanks to Lucas. I have that as either a WAV or a FLAC file. I seem to recall he put a DVD-R of the film with his isolated score on Demonoid at some point though. Anyway, yeah an isolated score that matches the film edit of the music would basically be the Ultimate Edition soundtrack set to the film... almost. There are some changes that would have to have been made. Wish I could remember this guy's name...

Anyway, if this isolated score was slightly re-edited to fit the laserdisc transfer of the film (which the HD footage would be edited to match) then it could be included as an alternate audio track. The majority of the editing has been done - it would just be some tidy-up so that it syncs with the LD version (I say LD and not HD because the HD would be the DVD cut I think) and that way the LD's 5.1 and the isolated score could be on the one disc. Perhaps with some subtitle tracks that recreate the DVD-ROM weblink in-depth commentary and script-to-screen features (can never get em to work with the PAL discs due to the speedup ).

Finally, Sluggo, thank you for the congrats. I hadn't even realized. Guess I should try and think up something special to do/say for my 1138th post.

Edit: Looks like I've babbled on for a bit trying to describe the situation with the isolated score. Hope you can make sense of it.

Okay the issue with my reconstruction at the moment is that I don't have several images used on the cover. So I've cleaned them up from the scan. Hopefully some hi-res versions can be supplied so I can make this cover reconstruction the best quality. Here is what I'm missing:
* X-Wing vs TIE shot from the top of the back cover
* Tatooine shot from the bottom of the back cover (somebody told me that this is from that news article about a Tatooine-like planet, if so - is there a hi-res still somewhere?
* The stills in the blue frames (they're not screenshots. I think they're promo stills but they're not in my collection of promo shots)

As for all the text/logo elements I've reconstructed everything. There are two other minor issues. I'm not sure how I should tweak the color of the artwork used on the front. Plus, the "Star Wars" logo on the spine is the slightly dodgy one. Does anyone have the official one? I'm thinking perhaps it's on the spine of MoveAlong's "The Story of Star Wars". I'll dig it out tomorrow afternoon and have a look.

Anyway, here's the cover reconstruction as it is now. The only changes are the addition of the Editdroid logo, not having stars all over the back cover and finally I made the barcode a little smaller. I'd like to change the audio information as (IIRC) the Editdroid team mislabeled one of the mixes as being a different one to what it was?

Anywho...

So yeah. Please help me finish this off so I can upload it for everyone.

Well I've cleaned up the barcode to leave on there, then. Unless the search I've just done on google is wrong... then that is the UPC for a Philips 50" Widescreen TV (Model: 50P8341).

The only thing that's holding me back now are the 3 framed images. I don't have them :/ Plus I can't seem to find the "X-Wing vs TIE" image nor the shot of Tatooine (at least not in that quality). Anyone want to help out? At the moment I have cleaned-up, upsized versions of everything from the scan - I'd like to use better quality though. The color on the front poster art could also be debated.

Okay, cool. Well I'll keep going then. I've kept it as exact to the scan as possible. Except for one small change. I've currently added the Editdroid logo. If you guys want me to leave that off the final version just let me know.

One thing though... why is there a barcode on this scan? Is it the retail barcode for the official SW DVD and meant as a joke or what? I don't think the ED team would sell their discs, surely. Anyway, should I include the barcode in the reconstruction?
