I have most of J.W. Rinzler's books The Making Of Star Wars Reveage Of The Sith , The Making Of Star Wars and The Sound Of Star Wars. And I can't wait for The Making Of The Empire Strikes Back Book to come out soon. Rinzler is a good writer and allways manages to find good interviews , photos etc to put in the books.
ChainsawAsh I agree with on 1080p 240hz or 120hz displays I don't like them either the quallity on those displays compared to 60hz is owfull. I much more perfer a 1080p 60hz display for LCD and 600Hz for plasmia HDTV's.
Just got the book this past saturday and I was reading the sounds of star wars book and I like it's fasnating book on the star wars sounds with a lot of great storys from the films to the recent clone wars tv series as well as the 2 speical edition re-mixes in 1997 and 2004. Overall it's a great read and a good book.

What I guess I am trying to say is everyone is worried about what the quallity of the blu-rays are going to look like and they are assuming they are going to be tearable and they won't be hopefully. I know I repete my self a lot but I try hard not to. And I am not a lucas basher like some people. I realy don't understand the bashing of GL anyway.
All I am saying is just don't rush to judgement just yet wait until the blu-rays are released.
Maybe the video quallity on the blu-ray releases of the star wars films will be better. You don't know that yet.

The quallity of the sounds is very good in full stereo hi-fi.
I went back and watch the doc on the ep 3 dvd and burtt had a talk with the music editor and lucas said are you happy Kenny ( Ken Wanberg) and he said not realy and lucas said not realy why? And then Wanberg said the music can live a little than it does cause it just gets wiped out by the sound effects and then lucas said lets try lowering everything. If Wanberg notice that about the sound on EP 4 A New Hope he whould of had the mixers go back fixed that mistake that they made on the sound mix of EP 4.
We shall see what happens.
We just don't know if it will until we see screenshots of the blu-rays when they come out. We don't know if they will be new transfers or not.
Now I don't know a hole about about film transfers but here's what I sort of know. 35mm film is the best for film resolution and you can't remaster a film in 1080p for blu-ray you have to do a 4K or 8K transfer for blu-ray. Now I am talking about older films not new ones. I hope when all 6 star wars films come out on blu-ray they will do a new 4K transfer for all 6 films and not slap on the dvd transfers of all the films. That whould be dissapointing if that happened.
I can see why the audio for episode 4 back in 2004 for the dvd is so messed up because when you listen to the english track the audio is all over the place then when you listen to the french track is pefect now when and if they do the new audio mix for blu-ray release and base it more on the french audio mix but in english in 5.1 or 7.1 then I think everyone will be happy. No or yes?
The book has a sound module you can listen to about 275 sounds in full stereo hi-fi either with the included speaker or thur your headphones. But yes their are different sound outakes as well.
What other stuff do you like about the book None?
Yea their are great stories in the book and about how they went from analog sound to digital sound to do the prequel films and the clone wars tv series. The sounds of star wars lives beyond the films.
I am getting my copy of the book soon from amazon I can't wait to read it.

I agree the original cuts should be released.
Now assuming they are going to re-mix and fix the films audio on blu-ray which source of the audio will they use the 77 theater mix the 85 mix other SE's from 97 and 04? I've heard on other blu-ray movie titles that they try to get the best mix possable for different films that are released on BD.
