I am going to be seeing Terminator 2 presented in 35mm on June 20. Is there anyone that needs me to pay attention to color detail in any particular scenes?

I would just be curious if any of those pics I posted from the 8mm look the same as the 35mm (more greens, purples and teal). Or if the 35mm is closer to the BD. Thanks kaosjm

You bet. This is one my all time favorites so I'll be paying very close attention to detail and report back.

Idea & Info: Cinerama 70mm '2001' preservation. Is it possible?

The audio, do the cast members all come out of separate speakers, but HAL come out of all the speakers at the same time?

 I'll be listening closely

Also, what kind of 70mm prints of this exist other than the Cinerama? Is there a normal 70mm? Any remasters? I am curious what kind of version of this I'll be seeing.

I LOVE the sound effects in the trailer. I wish they had kept them. It definitely is more "explosive" and IMo fits more in line with the first movie. Of course, Cameron's idea was to eventually do the opposite with the 5.1 Remix of part 1 :-(

Part of me wants to believe there is some release or bootleg out there that did have that soundtrack but it would have been known about by now.

Ugh, should've read the fine print first, lol.

I'm honestly wondering if there is any version available that doesn't have the blue tint to it.

I saw this film in the theater but was too young to remember things like color grading and unless you've got a film print ready to spool up right now you won't see the real deal. On home media I've always remembered this movie looking very cool in color with a blue tint. If you are wondering about why the trailer colors aren't as blue that is because it was just promo material before the film colors were finally graded. If you'll also notice the soundtrack was more punchy and explosive in the trailer than it is in the film. Sadly, that was all just done for promo.

There appear to be 2 very similar R2 Japan releases with a 5.1 DTS track.

1. PIBF-1219: http://www.hmv.co.jp/artist_%E3%82%BF%E3%83%BC%E3%83%9F%E3%83%8D%E3%83%BC%E3%82%BF%E3%83%BC_000000000115097/item_%E3%82%BF%E3%83%BC%E3%83%9F%E3%83%8D%E3%83%BC%E3%82%BF%E3%83%BC2-DTS_566051

2. PIBF-91219: http://www.hmv.co.jp/en/artist_SOUNDTRACK_000000000115097/item_Terminator-2-Judgment-Day_1987310

I own the 91219 release but have never seen the PIBF-1219. I am convinced that is the same release as PIBF-91219 but 91219 has a slip case. They seem to be identical specs but DVDCompare states there should be a commentary track on the disc which is nowhere to be found on 91219. There is only an .ac3, .dts, and a Japanese dubbed stereo track. It seems that the 5.1 DTS track in question here comes from these 2 releases by Pioneer. I am uploading the .ac3 and .dts files from the PIBF-91219 disc right now for review.

On the Terminator 2 Skynet Edition forum on blu-ray.com someone said they had a dvd that included the CDS Mix in full bitrate DTS.  From some searching it seems to be the R2 Japan-Geneon Special Edition.

http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=160#10

The DVD is unfortunately out of print and I can't find a rip of this specific DVD anywhere.  I messaged the guy on the forum if he would be willing to share but he won't respond.  The DVD looks like this and the picture he posted was of this same DVD.

Anyone have any knowledge of this disc and or have a copy or know of how to obtain this CDS Mix in DTS?  From what I gather it would be one of the best if not the best option for the CDS Mix rather than the AC3.

I do have that R2 Geneon DVD. It has a very cool slipcase design. Let me know if I can be of any help.

I've never read of any "missing credits" on any showings of 2001:ASO (and that would be a pretty big thing, too). There were full-production program booklets like the very worn one you linked, which listed production credits, but that's normal practice. Here's some better looking photos ...

"When 2001 premiered in Cinerama, there were no titles or credits. We were given this program to ponder. (it survived college)"

That is the title of the thread from reddit.com/r/movies. If that is true was it maybe on some showings? If one were to do a true representation of the Cinerama print would the credits be removed? Sorry just wanting understand this version of the film as I hadn't even heard of it until reading about it here.

Thank you for the information and clarification!  I'm in the process of grabbing T1 right now...  Really looking forward to the T2 release as it's my favorite of the two.  Also really looking forward to the non-DNR'd version this time around and paired with the CDS mix.  :-D

Any chances of an invite? I would love to seed these as they are 2 of my favorites!

How might I be able to get myself a physical copy of these discs?

I am only asking because my printer is not suitable for printing these covers or disc labels.

I would love to find out as well and wouldn't mind helping to seed this project. This looks great! T2 is still one of my all time favorites. I really wish the theatrical trailer sound mix was real and available.

Blade Runner Color Regrade (Released)
Time

Maybe I'm just being partial to my own preferences but the IC and IC/WP colors just seem so deep and powerful. There's something about the depth of contrast that seems to draw me in. The shot in Tyrell's office just looks gorgeous. I don't know a whole lot about color timing but they seem very rich in depth and fun to look at even if they may not necessarily be the correct color timing of the original 1982 theatrical presentation.
