Your disc ripper probably tells you the frame rates. I think the Blu-ray was 23.97 f/s.

I used the Blu-ray. The Skywalker Saga box set didn’t include DVDs and I don’t have a drive that can read 4k, so I didn’t have much choice.

Does anyone who’s a Photoshop expert want to design a Blu-ray cover?

Rather than PM everyone with a link they already have, I’m just going to be lazy and post this here in hopes that most people see it.

The updated 20GB full Blu-Ray quality V2 is now up with correct 5.1 surround sound. I replaced the previous version, so the existing link I sent earlier will still direct you to it. It’s uploaded, but Google Drive is still processing it, so you may not be able to view it for a little while yet.

I sent out a new link for a version with stereo audio. I will see if I can figure out the surround sound audio issue before replacing the full Blu-Ray quality version.

It seems it may have only rendered the surround channels. This is something difficult for me to diagnose as my computer refuses to downmix surround sound to stereo for some reason, i.e. when I watch a Blu-Ray or file with surround sound, I only get the front surround speakers. I always have to select the 2.0 audio option. If I can’t figure this out, I may have to render it in stereo instead of 5.1.

I apparently forgot to set my computer to never go to sleep before I left for work this morning. Have to restart the upload tonight. I should be sending links in about 24 hours. If all goes well…

Version 2 is finished at long last. It seems like there was always something else that needed to be done, but I’m finally ready to put this to rest, for now anyway. It is rendering now. I will upload it to Google Drive tomorrow.

I wasn’t able to manufacture dialogue for Leia. She only says “Poe” twice throughout the entire trilogy and I just couldn’t get it to match up to the other dialogue. So it just has Poe’s added dialogue to indicate that they got called back to base.

I had cut the orbaks (space horses) since they pretty much disappear after the first three or so shots of them riding out of the lander, but you still occasionally see one run across in the background of shots I wanted to keep, so I figured it was best to keep them.

I also considered adding in Rey having killed her parents as a child, a la IlFanEditore’s edit, but I didn’t see any way to pull it off like I wanted.

If any important new developments are made by others, I may revisit this for a version 3, like if someone replaces Rey burying Luke’s and Leia’s lightsabers with Rey building her own.

This could definitely be done, although it would take quite a bit of work to do it for every lightsaber shot throughout, especially if other things need to be masked out of the color adjustment as well.

Looking over your cutlist and watching your samples, I think this is one of the cleanest looking trilogy edits I’ve seen proposed. It’s focused and not overly ambitious.

I really like that you moved the arrival at Ahch-To to the beginning of TLJ. From the first time I watched TFA, I thought the hyperspace jump was the natural place to end the movie. I feel the rest of it was tacked on to shoehorn Mark Hamill in for marketing. If I ever do a full trilogy edit, this would be a must for me.

The only edit I’m not too sure about is the delay of Chewie’s reveal in TRoS. I feel like a fair amount has happened in the movie by that point, so why are Hux and Pryde only getting to Chewie now?

I also agree that Hal’s structural changes would be ideal. It doesn’t change the story, it just helps it flow better while reducing the feel of copying ANH.

To go back to earlier, I think making Jannah be Finn’s sister (and not Lando’s daughter) would be the the type of relationship reveal that would benefit this movie, if it were doable, which I highly doubt.

Anyway, has anyone successfully implemented the Rey killed her parents angle? The FX work is beyond my ability, but if someone has done it, I’d be interested in borrowing it for my edit.

Also, is the trailer footage officially available anywhere? They’re not on the Blu-Ray and Disney+ doesn’t let you download extras. Granted there’s only a couple seconds of footage not in the finished film.

Oh yes, I still need to make modified credits and some sort of fan edit notice for the beginning so it’s clear to anyone watching that this is a fan edit. Don’t want the Mouse coming down on me for presenting something as if it were a genuine Lucasfilm product.

As of earlier this week, the “workprint” of V2 is done, meaning all of the cuts and restructuring has been done. I still have to spend 2 hours to sit through it looking at it with a big-picture-view to see if anything isn’t working as it should, where transitions need to be improved, and if I need to adjust the placement of any scenes. The major hurdles still to be overcome are 1) manufacturing new dialogue to clear up some plot changes. This has proven harder than I anticipated and I don’t expect to have this ready for a while yet. 2) I’m still waiting for an FX shot that someone agreed to do for me.

Here is the revised Ahch-To scene. I am still working on some of the transitions, but this is how it plays out in my version. I’m still not sure about the line “If you don’t face Palpatine, it will mean the end of the Jedi.” If I can’t get it a little better, I might take that line out.

I haven’t decided the exact placement yet, but it will be either right after Lando and Chewie rescue Finn and Jannah from the crashing Destroyer or just before the return to Ajan Kloss for the victory celebration. I currently have it situated after Finn and Jannah’s rescue.

I’ve actually been registered on this site for about two years, but only recently became active. I don’t remember how I found this site originally, be it Harmy’s Despecialized, Adywan’s Revisited, or prequel edits. My extreme disappointment in TRoS has inspired me to attempt fan-editing on my own rather than just downloading others’ work. This is only possible because I had to replace my computer last year; I bought my previous one in 2003! So far my wife and daughter have been accommodating of the immense time investment fan-editing requires. I really enjoy fan-editing and hope to continue making edits and contributing back to this great community beyond this train wreck of a movie.

I was born too late to see the originals in theaters, so I grew up with VHS tapes recorded from TV broadcasts. I was into the expanded universe after the Thrawn trilogy came out, but by the time the Yuuzhan Vong were introduced, I had come to the realization that few of the books truly felt like Star Wars to me, and I hated the concept of the Yuuzhan Vong, so that’s pretty much when I abandoned the EU. I was happy when Disney wiped it away, although Disney hasn’t done any better.

I agree with Broom Kid as well. It feels rushed because it is trying to do so much in its runtime. By removing the extraneous bits and making it more focused on fewer threads, it starts to feel like a more normal movie.

The fleet is essentially supposed to be an urban legend that Kylo Ren, as Supreme Leader, had the resources to find.

How does Rey find out what Kylo knows & whats her new quest exactly ?

The Resistance finds out about the fleet through the First Order spy, so their quest is to find Exegol and destroy the fleet before Kylo unleashes it on the galaxy.

Does Kylo need a new fleet ?

According to my revised crawl, the galaxy is rebelling against the First Order, so he needs the additional warships to maintain control.

Wouldnt it make more sense if he was searching out perhaps rumored Dark Siders / Force Users or something like that ? Or better yet instead of Palpatine himself how about rumored Palpatine descendants

I’m not sure how those would make more sense. He finds a massive fleet of ships there, but none of those things. One would have to just assume he abandoned his search for any of those things without any context.

Thanks for the input. It’s always good to step back and question the bigger picture. It’s easy to get bogged down with obsessing over the minutiae.

Very nice job on those. Removing the space horses seems like a good idea, especially since they are only in a couple of shots after which they are never seen again. It’s like they all just fell off the side of the Destroyer at some point and nobody cared. Shifting the Rey and Finn conversation is tempting for me, but if it requires FX and grading, I’ll probably leave it as is. I would love to get rid of the Chewie-splosion, but I am playing up Rey’s temptation by the dark side and this is really the only time we see her use dark side powers. Granted, she fights Kylo in anger, but that’s not overt. I’ll keep Rey stabbing Kylo for similar reasons. The other edits I’ve already done.

I’m hitting a wall trying to Frankenstein new lines for Leia and Poe. I’ve spent hours manipulating the pitch, tempo, and volume of the words but can’t get it quite there. Does anyone have any expertise in this area?
