Yeah, he looks like the big Lebowski in that shot. It might be good to cut that line anyway, since it contradicts the Jedi ghosts showing up in the final battle.

the truth is that at first I was hesitant to make edits about the work of someone like JJ abrams, who in my opinion is a great director (I loved the force awakens hahah, even star trek, without being a fan), and he wasn’t sure about doing VFX on his work out of respect, but F_ck, the last two star wars movies have been a mistake, and we’re doing a wonderful job! we deserve a better version of these movies hahahah, because we are fans from a very young age, and OT is our bible !!!

Amazing work with the Jedi Force ghosts, man…but I really don’t think the audio needed re-mixed, the scene just failed to follow through on the VOs that got Rey to her feet in the first place. The goosebumps really hit now with the music and Force ghosts showing up. This is exactly what I was expecting in theaters but was totally let down. But great job man. Oh, and I re-edited this sequence using your purple saber footage (which I also love). 😃 Rey really IS all the Jedi now… Check it out…

I don’t know. I’m a bigger Anakin fan than many, but I think this would’ve been absurd. Why spend two and a half movies building up two compelling new Force-using characters, Rey and Ben, and developing their dynamic together, only to sideline them in favour of the same dude who killed Palpatine last time? I would’ve liked Anakin to have had a slightly greater presence in the movie (rather than getting the same size role as Luminara Unduli), but I think anything more than
the support role he gets alongside the other ghosts in jonh’s edit would have robbed Rey and Ben of their moment. Besides, to a certain extent, the ST is about the two parts of his legacy: Kylo idolises Vader; Rey is trained by Anakin’s children.I agree, but I don’t think Idir was being serious!

What if we had a scene like this during the “be with me” scene showing the relevant ghosts legs crossed as they speak, so when Obi speaks we cut to him on the circle, when Anakin speaks we cut to him on the circle etc etc.
talking is impossible without reusing material, and would not be convincing.
this scene that i propose, would be located maybe 10 minutes before the force ghost … luke learning and calling the other jedi

jonh I have been completely remixing the audio of this scene. When editors see the audio mix is in stereo they’ll realize they HAVE to remix if they want 5.1. Will use your choice of “The Return Home” string music from A New Hope. Will get some better FX for thunder then from zapsplat.com. Cutting Palpatine’s line about a scavenger girl and cutting Rey’s line “I’m all the Jedi.” Will probably keep Palpatine’s line “Let your death be the final word in the story of Rebellion.” Cutting Palpatine’s dramatic pause before using lightning on Rey (he did the same exact pause when he used lightning on the fleet).

Personally, I like the B better, I don’t know, the model looks more similar to the hawk, the one in version A, it is very fine.
I think that in all versions, the presence of the farm fails, because it makes the falcon seem small …

jonh, I’ve been working on incorporating your material into my edit and I just have to say great choices on the music change when Rey gets the saber and the ghosts appear. It works so well what you did. And the little trim you made when Palpatine is on the throne and puts his hands down. Great overall restructuring of the footage, even without the addition of the ghosts!!!

They are crappy sound effects from YouTube, the audio mix is not very good for me, if you want to mix …😉
So I watched TROS again a couple of days ago and took some notes as to potential edits:
- Since Kylo is oddly communing with Vader’s mask after Palps tells him he’s been ‘every voice in his head’, it might work to place this scene right after the opening crawl. The mask could be Vader telling him exactly where to find the wayfinder on Mustafar. Cut to him slaughtering the Cultists.

I’m thinking of using the pan to Coruscant - 1313 footage - DOTF concept art and the bridge shot of Kylo Ren as Palpatine’s message plays across the galaxy, then cutting to him meditating on the helmet - setting up his search for Exogol.
