However, what is packagning without the original version? Again, why not put out both versions on the DVD set. Does he no longer respect our decision as fans to make up our minds? The answer seems to be yes. I have to say it again, this is a travesty of justice in modern cinema. I'm glad Speilberg did not masacre the Indy trillogy with this type of stuff.

What are you talking about. Indiana Jones DVDs have changes with no option to watch original versions.

Movie mistakes

Finding Nemo
1. Shouldn't it be darker inside the whales mouth
2. Fish are very alert and would be awaken when the dentist instaled the new filter
3. Fish do not have eyelids
4. Sharks can not hover in one place. They must always keep swimming or they will sink.

Walking with Dinosaurs
1. Raptors had feathers
2. Utahraptors have never been found in Europe
3. Towards the end the main character diplodicus keeps changing size

Tarzan
1. Why didn't Tarzan grow a beard

Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring
1. Why would the password to a Dwarf city be in elvish
2. Urukia, creatures breed for war but go down when hobbits throw stones at them
3. If the Urukia are ordered to bring the hobbits in alive why does one take a near miss swing at them

Terminator 2 Judgement Day (continued)
1. The T-1000 bursts through the glass window then it magically fixes itself in the long shot
2. The T-1000 can change from solid to liquid in an instant. This implies he can change his temperture in an instant. Nothing in the world living or non-living can do this
3. The T-1000 needs to touch something to replicate. A security guard steps on him with shoes shouldn't he only be able replicate his shoes.

And stop going on about the nudity. You really are 16... (I'm 17, but whatever )

Thats what I thought to but I have compared my fullscreen version with widescreen internet shots and can't find a single one where fullscreen doesn't have any top to bottom benifit over widescreen. Fullscreen version has the same width but more on top and bottom in all live action shots. The movie was clearly filmed in 1.33. In effects shots like I said the making of feature shows how they digitally animated the water under the hunter killer but the final 2.35 shot the water is not visible but you see more of the city. The effects are all clearly made in 1.85 and cropped to 2.35. Why this was done I have no idea but the link I showed clearly shows its true. Though in widescreens defense most effects shots the added information is more interesting then the added information fullscreen gives. For example when the missles go off 3 missles get croped off in fullscreen but fullscreen justs shows more of the ground. Terminator 3 was the only time I ever chose a fullscreen DVD to a widescreen DVD and its ovious why.

Random non - Star Wars movie mistakes you noticed by yourself. Heres some of mine.

Dumb and Dumber
1. Loyd reads an old newspaper then runs out yelling "we landed on the moon" earlier in the movie he was too dumb to read

Jurassic Park
1. One of the worst movie mistakes ever you see earlier in the movie that the tyrannosaur pen is on the same level as the road. Later in the movie a 30 story cliff has appeared there
2. Raptor jumps to the sealing on a table when he falls back down the table disappears
3. You always here a low thud creating the ripps in the water (one of the movies trademarks) at the end with the Tyrannosaur enters the visitor center you don't hear it and the raptors with all there great senses don't notice it.
4. The triceratops dungpile is half the size of the creatures. That must have been a pain in the ass.
5. The lower the cow into the cage. The raptors tare the cow to peices. The lowering device pops out horribly broken but with no blood on it.

Jurassic Park 3
1. Spinosaur is strong enough to break through a solid metal fence but not strong enough to break down a wooden door.

The Terminator
1. When the Terminator says his famous "I'll be back" line you can clearly see his eyes through his glasses after pulling one out in an earlier scene

The Mummy
1. They say Imotep was given a slow painfull death by scarabs. All other deaths in the movie by scarabes is pretty damn fast.

Terminator 2 Jugement Day
1. The T-1000 can't form a machine as complex as a gun yet can see indicating he can replicate a camera system far more complex then any gun.
2. The first movie mentions that only living tissue can go through time. How does the liquid metal T-1000 go through?
3. If the T-1000 can replicate clothing the same as skin why does it go through naked. (This flaw is repeted in Terminator 3 but there it gives you good visual benefit.)
4. John doesn't look 10.
5. The movie takes place in 1995. The Terminator says that skynet becomes opperational in 1997 three years from now. Do the math.

Godzilla
1. Godzilla is fast enough to catch a helecopter but not a cab.
2. If the suspension cable on a bridge break it can't support its own weight much less the weight of a 1000 ton monster.
3. If a building were to have a hole in it that big it would not stand (proven by the tragic September 11th incident)
4. How could something that big hide for any length of time

Get this on Terminator 3 not only does fullscreen show more on the top and bottoms get this. A couple shots fullscreen shows more on the sides. Warning there is some nudity for the scemise and the gay. Heres proof. During the effects shots they were framed in 1.85 so the widescreen shows more on the sides but the fullscreen version shows a bit more on the top. So effects shots were done in Super 35 and the rest was soft matte.

I'd watch revolutions it was much better then reloaded. I probably liked it just as much as the first. Though it lacks the same spiriual element it makes up for it with more action then the first two combined easy.

George Lucas' explanation why the OT is obsolete to him

It does not ruin Hans character. I have heard all the arguements. Like saying now he just does it in self defense makes him less of a badass. He did it in self defense before too, Greedo was theatening his life. We can still see him getting his gun ready to fire. I don't like the change because it does not like technologically right. It doesn't make sense that Greedo could miss at point blank range. It was not nessessary I don't think anyone likes the change. Many don't care, others like me dislike it, some downright hate it nobody likes it. Nobody except Lucas thinks the scene wasn't better before. He really should have tooken whatever time and money was spent on making Greedo shot first and fix the color on the lightsabers which would be one of the first changes I would make if I was trying to improve the Star Wars trilogy.

Actually there are four processes

anamorphic print - shotting the movie in its theatrical ratio and cutting off the sides for fullscreen. Oviously movies shot in this make widescreen superior. What was done with Star Wars.

Hard matte - Filming in fullscreen. Cutting off top and bottom. then cutting off sides to fullscreen. Widescreen version is better.

Super 35 - shooting the movie in an inbetween ratio so that the widescreen and fullscreen versions are pan scaned equally. Its worth noting that most effects shots will be done in hard matte for these movies.

Open (Soft) matte - shooting movies in 1.33 and simply cutting of tops and bottoms to create widescreen. Again effects shots are done in hard matte.

For the record bad_karma24 only Terminator 2 was shot Super 35. Terminator 3 was shot in soft matte.

I disagree. Many widescreen fans say this but I think that whichever version shows more of the shot picture. For example in Terminator 3 only the fullscreen version has any nudity. Kristanna Loken breast are not shown in widescreen. Why on earth would the directer not want you to see this. Hell even some effects shots look better in fullscreen. In the making of it showed how they animated the water below the Hunter Killer and talked for 5 minutes on how they did this. When it shows the final shot in 2.35 widescreen the water below the hunter killer is not visible. Yes there are definutly movies where the fullscreen version is superior but not alot of them. Still this is about Star Wars that movie is clearly much better in widescreen.

It has been Fox's policy to offer both Widescreen and Fullscreen versions of all its hot releases for a couple of years now. When the film is short enough, they'll put them on the same disc; when it isn't, they'll opt for dual releases. Since Fox is handling the OT, even if Lucas does not want to offer both, he does anyway. As John Carpenter put it in the commentary on The Fog, "Let the idiots have their pan and scan."

Thats my guess. Its my belief that the studio is responsible for the Star Wars pan scan release. My opinion Lucas seems like a widescreen supporter. He released The Phantom Menace at first in widescreen only. Made all DVD extras on both discs in anamorphic video even produced the Clone Wars cartoons in widescreen. He also put a very pro widescreen article on the official Star Wars website to convice people to go with widescreen. Studio should not force a filmmaker to pan scan. Its like a muesum cuting a painting in half to fit it on there wall properly.
