What I like about this, is Obi-Wan's face says it all, with three different poses and faces. He expects Anakin to be right behind him after he jumps, surprised and scared when he realizes he isn't and he sees the pylon going over the edge, and then when Anakin doesn't make it, you can almost see him crying and saying, "oh anakin. How could you have allowed it to come to this"
"He betrayed and murdered your Father" Vader inside of Anakin allowed Anakin to murder/destory himself, so it's true, from a certain point of view. Obi-wan doesn't kill him, and therefore he doesn't lie to Luke.
(Disclaimer: I don't have a preference between this ending and the original limbs getting cut off, this was just really fun to try and make work. Still doesn't explain the Lightsaber, unless 1) Obi lied about it in the first place to get Luke off that Rock, possible 2) He gave an extra lightsaber to Padme, not likely 3) someone can rotoscope Anakin's saber to Red, and earlier in the movie Anakin gave his saber to Padme for his unborn child, most likely, but more work involved)

I liked the way you had done it the first time, more so than the second version, the only thing I didn't like about the first one was breaking up the fight with Obiwan and Anakin on the pylon with the Yoda Slippage. I like it even less with the cut to the senate, it REALLY kills the excitement and build-up. I know there is a cut there where you feel the need to place something, check out my cut of your duel for a way past it. I believe this should be the climax of the saber fight, and to inturrupt it feels wrong, IMHO.

Very nice, I felt bad leaving Obi-wan floating in the middle of the lava, I like how you incorporated the backflip onto the land. I liked it so much I incorporated into my Lava Death Version 2, I've also borrowed your music clip, It fit my edit extremely well, thanks. Obi-wan see's they are close to the waterfall, he jumps off the Pylon just in time, Anakin see's him, he tries to jump as well, but.....oops, he doesn't make it and goes over the fall. Let me know what you all think.

Regarding your Duel, I LOVED IT. If yoda and Palpatine must be included (I really wish there was a way to take them out, but I doubt there is), this is the way it needs to be done. The energy is the best I've seen yet and makes the duel feel longer than it actually was. You took what George gave us and really made it flow better than he ever did. You even made the balancing act over the lava work perfectly, primarily as a cut between yoda and palps, The musical score and DOTF fit VERY well and I think it is what actually made the biggest difference. You deserve awesome credit for that.
The ONLY thing I didn't like was the cut back and forth starting at the balancing act, yoda and palpatine lightning battle, back to anakin and obi, then yoda slipping, and back to the duel. This is the part of the duel where I feel the music should be at it's height, and we see the Climax of the duel without the inturruption of the yoda and palps fight. Other small complaint would be the music "Heroes collide" (I think that's what it is) it is when they are battling on the pylon after jumping down from the balancing beam... the "clink clack clink clack" music at marker 3:38 annoys me. It takes all the energy out of the scene.
Here is my re-edit of the sequence I was talking about, I left a short black segment in where I believe my above waterfall death, would fit perfectly. Way to go GoodMusician, with these small, and may I add, VERY SMALL changes, this is the duel I wanted from the beginning (minus yoda and palpatine of course). The death is still up in the air for me, but it would be nice to have both on a lovely DVD in the near future! Thank you.

I really like the transitioning from the arm restraints, to Palpatine Standing. It was seemless and eliminated one of my least favorite lines in the whole movie. Thank you for that! The one thing that I did miss was the look of terror on Dooku's face when Anakin has him on his knees, head between the blades. This is where he realizes, he's met his match, and this wasn't the same boy who he had beat in AOTC. Oh yeah, that and the fact that his life was over.
Only other question, I know many people are attempting to keep the vader thing a secret, do you plan on doing this as well? Vader's music may be a bit too revealing if you are trying to keep it a secret. Also it may be a bit too early in the movie for this, as he has not yet turned to the dark side. Might be more appropriate after he chops off Mace's arm (if it's not already there, I can't remember).
Keep the clips coming! I love all the different "Point of Views".

First off, I really like the way you cut this scene. To get rid of the "I shouldn't have done that" line and palpatine statements, while still allowing it to flow, possibly cut it like this:
Leave it as is (in your cut) -
- Anakin walks over to release Palpatine from the chair, we see the arm braces disengage -
- [cut anakin saying "I Shouldn't have done that it's not the jedi way"] -
- show Palpatine standing up only for as long as it takes for him to say, "Now We must leave" [this line taken from a few cuts later where they walk away, the full line was "Now We must leave before more battle droids..."] This should work as his head is down as he speaks -
- KEEP the scene with Palpatine looking at Anakin where there is currently no dialogue in your cut. Add the quote "You did well Anakin" [this is just after Anakin cuts off Dooku's head, you had cut this scene] This would result in the stare from Anakin, as he is questioning what he has done internally.
Let me know if you think this is do-able. The only thing that may not work is the "Now We must leave" but it should sync with "it is only natural" since his head is down for most of the line.

Sideous tells him to finish Dooku, Anakin does, and that's that. He doesn't think it was wrong. He only realizes he's started down the dark path after he takes off Mace's Arm, after it's too late.
An example of this, someone tells a lie, the first time, you feel bad, after a while you lie without even knowing it, the lies are now a part of your character, they get bigger and bigger, and then finally, you tell one big whopper of a lie, and it gets you into trouble. (cutting off Maces Arm resulting in his death).
So all of that to say, in the beginning it makes sense for him to feel guilty like after killing the Tusken Raiders in AOTC, he's young and impulsive, but if the dark side has begun to consume him, as it has, he shouldn't question it anymore, especially after going through all the killing in the clone wars. He should think nothing of it until that big whopper. He kills Dooku like Sidious told him too, thinks nothing of it, and goes over to help Obi-wan. In his mind, both are the right things to do. Kind of Twisted thinking. "He's more machine now, than man, Twisted and Evil" Thoughts?

Costner and Kutcher. Anyone attempting this, I think there is a great movie in the Guardian, but you have to get past all the stupid Top Gun References. The first half of the movie, seemed like a direct to video sequal to Top Gun, but the last half of the movie was fantastic.

Yes, this is how I did it in my edit, with the Discussion occuring on Alderaan, reason being it hinted more to the fact that Leia exists, and really the only reason they are on Alderaan is to drop of Bail and Leia. Watching it, you think they are only dropping Bail off, but when you find out about Leia being Luke's brother, all the pieces begin to fall into place...okay she's from Alderaan, and before they dropped luke off on Tatooine, they must have dropped Leia off with Bail and then... Ohhh that is what they were talking about! We then proceed to see the placement of other key Characters in my edit, so first Leia on Alderaan (not shown), Vader taking command on the Starship, Yoda going to Dagabah, and then of course Luke and Obi-wan to Tatooine. I thougt it closed the movie well, while setting things up for and hinting at ....wait for it.... A NEW HOPE!

Nice execution for the ending. I LOVED the yoda visions, fantastic stuff. And great way to hint at Vader without showing it.
I see you you liked some of my ideas from above, looks good to see them being utilized!
My only critisism is that, can Leia be explained once we find out she is lukes brother, If I go back and watch the birth sequence, is it believeable that there still could have been another baby delivered? She Clearly dies, and there is only one baby that been delivered. What does everybody else think? Maybe after Luke is delivered, have padme screaming again and another baby (Leia) crying off scene while we watch yoda and let that be the end of the scene.

I made small cuts and changes when Anakin arrives on mustafar to wipe out the seperatists, if you don't want to watch the whole thing, skip to 6:30 and start there.
Some of the Cuts:
Lots of bad dialog and "camera poses/stares" cut.
In this edit, Obi-wan knows right away he needs to go after Anakin (without Yoda telling him what he needs to do). If my "brother" was in trouble I would be the first to go after him, no one needs to tell me to go after him. Obi-wan watches the security video, Yoda comments how he's been consumed, and Obi-wan asks right away, "I don't know where to find him, where do I look?" He believes Anakin is and always was his responsibility, he goes after him.
Yoda and Sideous gone! As far as I'm concerned, I only want to see Yoda using a light saber once to know that he knows how, and that was when they were taking back the temple! That was awesome! (No Dooku and Sidious duals)
Padme dies when Anakin chokes her, she never wakes up, all the medical attention is only to save the twins.
During the dual, Obi-wan never wants to fight anakin, he is never the agressor, he is only on defense, almost running away from Anakin. If Anakin dies, it will be from his own anger and agression. Got rid of the balancing act which slowed down the fight and did little to add to the drama, also cut out the video game like swinging over the lava. However I did cut a little more of the dual than I had wanted to try to make the transitions more seamless. Someone with more editing experience, could problably salvage other parts of the dual.
Now Obi-wan leaves Anakin to burn for a reason, Obi-wan expresses his brotherly love for Anakin in a last attempt to save him, and Anakin responds with Well "I HATE you", and Obi-wan knows Anakin is gone, only Vader remains to burn.
The events after the dual, Padme's funeral is happening while Anakin Dies and Vader is born. Very symbolic, seeing the bone necklace signifying Anakins innocense and then cut to the mask being lowered. I believe it flows much better. Vader's birth is much shorter. The lowering of the mask is trimmed for drama, this was a personal irritation. In the original version, we see it from Anakins point of view and it's practically locked in place, and then it would cut to the wide angle and the mask is still way up in the air. (small edit, but a huge difference, what do you think, maybe it's just me) Our introduction to the completed vader is not the stumbling NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, it's now him walking in full command on the bridge of his ship. Much like his intro in a New Hope.
The twin thing. Up until the scene on the blockade runner with Bail, yoda, and Obi-wan, the audience has no idea the "baby" survived. This scene now cuts into a conversation which is clearly already in progress, and starts with Obi-wan asking, and what of the boy, as if they had already discussed the fate of Leia staying with Bail. Bail then gives a look to yoda and Obi as if saying "I hope we are doing the right thing". So watching the movies in order, we have no idea about Leia, but when we find out Luke does have a sister, we look back, oh yeah, that's what they were talking about before we cut in.
Finally, the end with Obi-wan dropping off Luke, I cut a lot of the stupid camera poses and stares from Beru and Owen, completely not necessary, and now I believe it feels tighter and much more epic, fitting for Star Wars.

One of the biggest questions is why did Obi-wan walk away from Anakin. In my version, Obi-wan doesn't give the lecture about Anakin being the chosen one, he simply looks at Anakin, not believing what just happened, and says you were my brother, I loved you. Then Anakin replays I HATE you, almost telling Obi-wan to leave. Basically saying: I love you, oh yeah, well I hate you, get out of here!) So it's not so much Obi-wan walking away, it's Anakin refusing his friends compassion. He then procedes to pick up the saber, almost for him to remember his friend, one more glance back, and then he walks away.
I'll try to see if I can get it uploaded tonight somewhere, is rapidshare the easiest?

Hello all,
I love ADM’s edit of Episode III and the way he removed a lot of the small annoyances, thanks ADM! Are there any other Ep III edits out there that make more dramatic changes to the ending?
I would like to create my own edit, but do not have the technical know how or software to do so. The climax has annoyed me since I’ve seen it in the theater, and ADM has taken care of all the stuff before that that drove me up the wall. I’ve created a rough cut of what I would like to see take place, all my changes occuring once Anakin arrives on Mustifar. I removed all of the Palpatine and Yoda fight, and focused soley on the “epic” duel. Also kept the twin thing, aka Princess Leia, a secret. I removed all the annoying poses, stares, and bad dialog that’s driven me nuts. I made the saber-fight about the fight. I removed the balancing act that surved no purpose, removed the really bad video game leaping. I also re-arranged , changed “ALL” the sequences after the duel up until the credits.
Is there anybody that can use my rough cut to create a new edit with appropriate music, transitions, and registered software that doesn’t leave the logo in the middle of the screen? I can create an .iso of my rough cut to send to anybody that would be willing.
Thanks guys, and Keep up the good work, I really enjoy seeing all the different visions and interpretations.

LOVE the music, I think it's the perfect, and the cues couldn't be better. Reminds me of the Cantina music, but only better.
Lastly, IMO I think the smoke scene will work if it's a slow fade rather than a direct cut into the scene. I'm not sure if the Obi-wan scene is long enough though. The direct cut OUT of it is fine.
CAn't wait to see the finished product.

With all the new dialog being recorded, I have a question and a "possible request" request. I didn't like Hayden's performance, and I am encouraged by your recordings for Anakin. However, Natalie Portmans was JUST as bad if not worse. There is no inflection in her voice at all, even when there should be. Any chance of getting a voiceover for her? It would only seem fitting... anyone else agree? Or am I asking for way too much...

Excellent Trailer! I loved the color changes in all the scenes, especially on Tatooine and in the Droid Factory. And the dream sequence...Well done! I do have a few comments and opinions.
1) I agree with everyone else on raising the pitch of the voice. He's more of a teenager/young adult in EP II and it sounds like he is a mature man which he isn't yet. But overall excellent change! I really like the 'He held me back!'
2) What is he saying in the first scene when Padme says "Ani?" Is it 'Hey' or is he clarifying that it is 'Anakin' now. It's hard to hear. I like it with just him looking at her and saying 'At your service'. His look alone says quite a lot. If you want him to say something, what about. 'Who else? ...At your service' It's a little cockier/smooth and a nice introduction to his character.
3) Right before the speeder dive, I don't like the line 'I hope you like Flying'. 2 reasons, they are already flying, and it sounds like a forced/obvious nod to Obi's dislike of flying. I don't think it fits well. What about a simple 'Here we go!' or 'Hold on'? This is more OT like. When Han solo was about to do something, it was 'watch this' or 'hold on'. It causes The audience to get ready for this as much the characters around him.
