All of Dave Filoni’s shows are decent but overrated at best (ATLA/TCW) but mostly kinda bad. The Mandalorian is his best show, but it seems that it was good in spite of him. The two episodes he directed were the worst two.

You did NOT just say ATLA is overrated.

(TCW might be a little overrated though. I think it’s great and I love it but it irritates me that so many fans just cherry pick the good parts and ignore the bad)

I just watched Donnie Darko for the first time. I had heard critical acclaim for the film for years but never got around to watching it. It was absolutely amazing. It’s the kind of film that can only be seen to appreciate. It successfully combines drama, comedy, science fiction, horror and experimental filmmaking flawlessly. The story was very original for once. There are so many things to analyze and notice. It’s the kind of movie that requires multiple viewings. The performances are all perfect and fit the characters exactly. But I think the most impressive aspect is the budget. They were able to do so much with less than 5 million dollars. So many intriguing and creative imagery is in the film. This is a film that a recommend to anybody, regardless of taste. It has something for everyone.

Donnie Darko is one of my favourite movies and I still don’t know what it’s about.

The Kenobi <s>Movie</s> Show (Spoilers)
Time

I’m not sure if I like force ghosts being able to interact in the physical world at all. They COULD potentially wield lightsabers etc but it is clear they can only appear in moments of need as the Force wills (as Ben says to Luke before he rushes off to confront Vader, “I cannot interfere”) so maybe it’s no problem.

I suppose Qui-gon appearing to confront Vader and let Obi-wan escape would be a nice moment in many respects but it would all depend on execution.

Honestly, I think it will happen. Liam Neeson said recently he’d only return to Star Wars if it was a movie, as he’s apparently always been a bit of a “snob” about the small screen. This might be convincing if he hadn’t appeared twice in The Clone Wars and also hadn’t JUST appeared in an episode of Derry Girls. I feel like he’s saying that to throw us off.

Rebels’ brand of mostly lighthearted fun is not at all what I would have expected for this series. I assumed it would have been the most dark live action series yet, but apparently the age rating is 9+, which is lower than the ratings for Mando and Boba Fett. Might be a mix-up with the rating for the trailer, who knows. But either way it shouldn’t affect story quality and if the series feels like Rebels, I’m the last person who’s gonna complain!

New poster featuring Vader:

I feel like he’s slightly smaller than I’m used to, likely because Hayden Christensen is actually inside the suit this time and isn’t incredibly tall like the actors they usually get to wear it.

Also, I really loved this trailer. For whatever reason, every time I watched the previous trailer it made me less excited, but this one is much better. It offers more while still keeping a lot of things a big secret. I’m really looking forward to seeing that friction between Obi-wan and Owen Lars, Reva seems to be a great villain, there are even more visually appealing shots thrown in there. Even the Grand Inquisitor looks better, although that might have something to do with the camera being far away from him this time.

Would it not be amazing if we got a Darth Vader movie directed by Christopher Nolan?

It’s a shame, since so many things can be done in animation that just feel cheesy or lame in live-action. I don’t think Mortis or Yoda’s vision quest would be anywhere near as good if Clone Wars was a live-action show.

Yep, totally agreed. I also think it’s budget related, by Star Wars standards Rebels was a lower budget series but was still able to pull off big battles such as the battle of Atollon. I’m guessing that live action series, despite being well funded, would struggle to pull off something close to that scale.

It remains to be seen as the live action shows increasingly become larger scale, I think.

Obi-wan Kenobi’s main composer has been revealed as Natalie Holt, who also composed the score for the MCU series Loki. She’ll be the first woman to compose for a live action Star Wars project. John Williams is still composing the main theme and there are details about that in the article as well.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Composer Natalie Holt Reveals “Haunting” Approach

The Loki soundtrack was fantastic and after reading about Natalie’s approach and style I’m really excited to hear her work.

What do you think of The Prequel Trilogy? A general discussion.

No only do we not see Anakin and Obi being good friends, we see them somewhat antagonistic towards each other!

In AOTC yes, but by Revenge of the Sith it’s abundantly clear that their shared experiences in the war have formed that trusting friendship Obi-wan spoke of. Perhaps the prequels always needed a series like The Clone Wars to develop that friendship, but the groundwork was there.

I was having trouble articulating why I was never excited for this show, but after seeing the trailer, I think I know why. I think what made the most sense for Obi-Wan’s character was for him to remain hidden on Tatooine and not really do all that much exciting. Grappling with things internally, of course, but not going out and trying to save the galaxy. But in order to make a successful TV show that mass audiences will enjoy, there has to be exciting action scenes and big adventures. I think they should have avoided making a show about him altogether and focused on someone for whom action-packed adventures actually make sense. A Darth Vader show might have had more room for that and could have been interwoven with flashback sequences featuring Ewan MacGregor as Obi-Wan if they wanted to bring him back.

Yeah, I don’t know what kind of plot I first imagined for this show but I always kind of wanted him to just remain on Tatooine and have a story really about character development. There are some great stories about Obi-wan in this time period in books and comics which don’t feel the need to bring Vader or Inquisitors in. Throw in some Force vision stuff, maybe even the trials Obi wan has to pass to become a force ghost like Yoda, and I think you could have a great series which doesn’t tread on the duel from A New Hope.

Unrelated but here’s a video about Qui-gon Jinn taking force ghost form and the possibility of Liam Neeson returning as the character in the series:

Maybe we will have a 2nd season of Visions. This is just a rumor from someone named Jordan Maison (is he reliable? I hope so):

Jordan Maison is definitely one of the most reliable scoopers out there, so this has me excited too. I’m really hoping for a continuation of The Ninth Jedi which was my favourite short from the series.
