The Kenobi <s>Movie</s> Show (Spoilers)

No I think you articulated that distinction very well. I’d say Clone Wars and Rebels feel in touch with their characters’ feelings but as you said it’s never as natural as it comes across in this scene. I don’t think it’s fair to say that character drama is usually an afterthought - I think it’s the heart and centre of most episodes of Filoni’s shows - but I still get what you mean.

And this clip really does excite me. Only one week left!

Extended clip of Obi-wan and Owen’s argument, which we got a few lines from in the trailer. It’s not the greatest quality since it was recorded from the Lorraine show on TV but not too bad.

This clip honestly has me really hyped, partly because this kind of character drama is what I was really hoping for and mostly because I can hear Ewan beginning to channel Alec Guinness and it really, REALLY works.

<strong>Ahsoka</strong> (live action series) - general discussion thread

But Andor and Ahsoka are probably the two shows I am still looking forward to seeing.

Same, along with The Acolyte. I’m excited for Ahsoka, but worried about it too - I really hope it lives up to my expectations for a Star Wars Rebels sequel, and isn’t too limited by a live action TV budget. Andor and The Acolyte, I’m not worried at all though.

I can’t believe we’re having a discussion about the believability of a spinning lightsaber and it’s not the double-bladed levitating helicopter sword.

I think that one’s beyond discussion. I just like to laugh at it. And also laugh at people who get angry because of it.

Fun interview with the three leads. It’s surreal seeing Ewan and Hayden back in Star Wars again and they both seem happy to be back, which is great.

I mean, it is ultimately just one choreography issue. I respect your decision not to watch the series though, I’m just surprised you’d make that decision based on a lightsaber spin.

(Mind you, it’s definitely indicative of a more exaggerated prequel-esque style of choreography, I think it was Hayden Christensen who mentioned that the duels are more akin to prequels fights than OT ones)

There’s nothing wrong with having healthy skepticism about something upcoming. If someone’s been disappointed with most recent Star Wars stuff, they have plenty of valid reasons to be concerned about what will come next. Especially because there are tons of ways this series could damage the Canon.

I’m guessing you didn’t watch the video, I’ve been critical of things based on the trailers and story premise myself but this is about something specific.

Yeah, I hadn’t gotten to watch the video yet. I just watched it now, and I think he’s glossing over what people’s concerns actually are and assuming the worst of people. There’s more to that leak than what he mentioned. I for one am worried that they’re going to have Reva or one of the other Inquisitors actually find Luke and come close to getting him. Which wouldn’t make sense with Luke’s ignorance in ANH. And if the only thing that narrowly saves Luke is Reva turning good at the last minute, then that puts Obi-Wan in an incompetent light.

That’s interesting, I hadn’t heard any specifics about the leak and based on the trailers I was worried that the Inquisitors would find Luke’s location, which doesn’t make sense. Of course I’ll have to see how it plays out in the series, right now I have faith that Deborah Chow didn’t want to tread on the original trilogy or canon continuity as she’s said that a few times.

I don’t think the video was made in bad faith though. You’re the first person I’ve seen actually say they’re worried about this, and there really are a TON of people online complaining about Reva taking the spotlight away from Obi-wan and Vader before the series is even released yet.

Dune - Denis Villeneuve

Yeah but then they just look like young people. Looking for an actor who conveys to the audience that the Emperor is old, while also looking young, really shortens the list of who you can cast. The priority should absolutely be whether an actor can be menacing, can emanate authority, ruthlessness, coolness, whatever qualities Denis is looking for in his version of the Emperor. That’s what helps the story, not stressing over a description from the book just for the sake of it, whenever it makes the role so much harder to cast.

The Obi-wan press tour has started!

https://youtu.be/92Nd2MDQdH0

In this clip Ewan talks about how making the prequels was difficult because of all the green/blue screen, and how much backlash they received, but it’s been great for him and Hayden to see the generation who grew up with those movies express such love for them.

Also, Ewan, Hayden and Moses will be on BBC One on the One show tomorrow answering fan questions.
