Did someone else notice that the second half of the end credits theme (From 1:48 onwards) features a melody that’s suspiciously similar to the Crimson Dawn theme from Solo?

I’ve also found out that the parkour-ninja guys kind of resemble some Crimson Dawn thugs seen in recent comics.

Could they (and maybe Qi’ra) turn out to be the main antagonists for the season?

I’d seen a lot of people talking about the Crimson Dawn music, and yes those guys are definitely dressed in crimson. Signs definitely point to Crimson Dawn being in the series, but I’m wondering how that’ll play out, seeing as in the comic Crimson Reign #1…

(mild spoiler)

…the narrator says the story is about the “fall of Crimson Dawn”. I would have assumed based on that, they wouldn’t still be around 5 years after ROTJ.

But if the series did tie in with the comics it would be fantastic.

I also kept wondering why he didn’t just fly out with his jet pack when they were surrounded by the electro-shield guys. Like, it was such an obvious choice it felt really dumb for him NOT to.

He wasn’t wearing his jetpack in the previous scene so it bugs me that the costume department put it on him for the outside scenes, when he doesn’t even use it in a necessary situation.

Perhaps he was afraid the blast would hurt Fennec but that’s a stretch.

Thrawn or Xizor

Apart from a hatred of Star Wars Rebels in general, I was particularly incensed by how Thrawn was outsmarted by some whiny kid in the series finale.

I don’t know how Thrawn could have expected the Rebels to show up with space whales biologically capable of jumping to hyperspace. That seems like something that would be outside of ANYONE’s calculation (and no viewer would have expected it either). More importantly, Ezra is able to effectively ‘communicate’ to the whales using the Force, and the point across Thrawn’s two seasons of Rebels is that the mysteries of the Force are outside of his calculations.

Thrawn isn’t infallible. He wasn’t in Legends and he isn’t in Canon - he needs to have at least one specific area of weakness otherwise he’s more or less boring. I admit, I wish Thrawn had done more actually smart tactical stuff in Rebels - there are only two moments in the show where I was impressed by something he’d accomplished or figured out. But he was never outsmarted.

Yeah I can find it likely the city grew considerably in the span of 30 years since it was last seen in the prequels, but I don’t remember Mos Espa being built in the middle of a valley surrounded by huge cliffs (and reaching beyond them as well).

I can believe that the portion of Mos Espa we see in TPM is just a suburb and we never see the whole city. This image is pretty low quality but you can see how far beyond the valley it reaches.

I like the thought that’s gone into this as well. I don’t believe the city has grown into the valley since TPM: it makes more sense to begin in there and spread outwards, as the valley provides more shade and presumably protection from winds. And it’s nothing too fancy, but design wise we can see rickety-looking elevator shafts or stairways of some kind, leading up the cliff walls into the city suburbs. That spire that’s comically taller than everything around it could be the city hall, where I’m gonna guess we are heading next week to visit the mayor.

I got the impression that the Tuskens had the kid take Boba & the Rodian out into the desert specifically to show them the swoopgang problem in their area.

I wonder what they wanted Boba and the Rodian to do about that. We know from the trailers that Boba fights the gang at some point, I’m gonna guess in the next episode, but I assumed he did it of his own free will - maybe he agrees to fight them if the Tuskens set him free. But then again, it makes more sense for him to have already won his freedom by saving the Tusken child. We’ll find out on wednesday, anyway.

Happy 2022 by the way!

nothing bad either (well, maybe the way Roberto does shoot action, it’s still atrocious on the editing

I liked the rooftop chase sequence and Fennec besting those two guys much more than the chaos that was the initial fight scene, yeah. Felt more laboured than it should have and I’ve no idea why they even equipped Boba with his jetpack for those scenes when he doesn’t use it.

I really love that we see why Boba wants to “rule with respect” in this episode. Using violence to escape the Tuskens gets him nowhere, but once he does something impressive and honourable he gains their respect and presumably wins his freedom. I also like that we see Boba truly get put through the wringer, helpless and humiliated as his armour is stolen by Jawas and he’s captured and bested by Tusken Raiders. Both these experiences make for a great explanation for why Boba is such a changed man.

Bib Fortuna got fatter, but the Gamoreans got thinner. I prefer the way they were in RotJ, but I’m guessing this new look (here and in The Mandalorian) allows them to be more agile for action scenes.

It occurred to me they might have re-used the thinner Gamorrean ring fighter costumes from The Mandalorian chapter 9, but I don’t have anything to back that up.

Maybe it’s because I had begun to get worried about retcons and too much fan service etc, some issues which had begun to plague Star Wars shows for me, but this episode was not only a relief but really, really enjoyable. Some really witty dialogue between Boba and Fennec, I love how they do the flashback sequences and intercut them with the present story, just super super engaging and focused on BOBA. Really looking forward to more next week, this show has me hooked.

I also loved getting to see Kamino in live action again, although briefly.

Love that artwork.

Lately I’ve been wondering if Qi’ra from Solo will be in this series. It would be a nice way to bring her character back, and I’d love to see Emilia Clarke getting the chance to play her again. However, we’re currently in the middle of an ongoing comic series about her by Charles Soule so it would be very strange timing (Qi’ra’s presence and status in TBOBF would effectively spoil the end of the comic series), and I don’t see Lucasfilm taking Soule’s ambitious pitch for a Qi’ra story (which he apparently made last year) and incorporating it into a planned live action show. As fantastic as it would be to see Lucasfilm publishing and the team behind the series working together, Lucasfilm have been treading very carefully with their newfound success in TV and have kept novel and comic authors far away from it (think the cancelled Mando novel, etc.)

The worst that could happen is the show completely ignores the story from the comics (which would presumably be because it was written and filmed ages ago and they didn’t know about it), which would signify a complete breakdown of organisation and communication between departments. But I’m just getting paranoid about books and comics getting retconned again. Retcons in The Bad Batch did this to me!

A '<strong>Rumour and News</strong>' thread for reported new Star Wars films and tv series
Time

Fans of the ‘Tales of the Jedi’ comic series should find this Lucasfilm employee Christmas gift very interesting…

You can see the original post and the whole gift package here: https://imgur.com/gallery/XCnFpfv

If this really is a list of some upcoming projects, I’m glad to see Star Wars Visions getting another season too.

It’s also worth noting that camera angles and especially lens distortion have a tremendous impact on how a helmet (or person or anything really) looks on screen.

Case in point:

These are both me in the same helmet on the same day. Photos taken within seconds of each other. (I zoomed and cropped just to focus on the helmet, but I didn’t manipulate the vertical or horizontal stretch. This is exactly how the photos appeared when taken).

That’s really interesting to see the different effects, and I see what you mean. (Also, rocking that helmet. You’re making me want one!)

I still think they possibly have altered the helmet though because it feels like it’s longer to me in - I think - every shot we’ve seen him in so far, in the trailers. I can complain about it in a nitpicky Star Wars nerd way and still prefer the original more boxy version, but ultimately they probably changed it as Tem Morrison found the helmet too uncomfortable when filming Mando s2 (and he’ll have been filming long days in an already uncomfortable costume). And that does come first. It reminds me of how I don’t like the live action Ahsoka look, with much shorter head tails, but that’s also a necessary adjustment for Rosario Dawson when she’s doing stunts etc.

Is it just me, or have they made Boba’s helmet slightly longer for the show, and in this promo pic it’s the original helmet? If it really is a minor design alteration and not me losing my mind, I don’t like it quite as much.

For comparison:

What 'a Star Wars Story' / anthology / spinoff film would you like to see?

A Disney+ series 8-10 episodes 40+ minutes long per episode.

A young Leia (around 12), and Bail Organa (before Jimmy Smits gets any older) Let’s explore Alderaan some, let’s see Leia’s Alderaan training.

Sounds interesting for sure but, although I haven’t read it, we do already have the ‘Leia: Princess of Alderaan’ novel and manga adaptation which might cover much of what you’d like to see in this potential show. In case it interests you!

A sequel to Solo a Star Wars Story.

That isn’t ruined by studio meddling and creative disagreements. Or bad press. Has a good director, is well lit and shot. Has a cracking good screenplay. A fantastic score.

I would love this too. I actually do think Solo is very underrated, broadly a fun film which DOES have a fantastic score (I see where the lighting complaints come from though!). I’m beginning to think we will never get a Solo 2 though, because story threads are being picked up in comics - such as the Han and Chewie miniseries recently announced and Qi’ra’s appearances in War of the Bounty Hunters.

I simply do not get how some of you guys are just able to disconnect the conditions a game is being made under with the game itself, completely free of a guilty conscience. It honestly disgusts me.

Quantic Dream are a majorly fucked up studio, every sign points to that, and yet there are plenty of people who just want to bury their heads in the sand. Yes, the cinematic trailer looks great. But accountability is more important than entertainment.

I fully understand that. I just feel that it’s best we stay on topic. I suggest you start your own topic about this subject elsewhere here instead of having pages upon pages of drama. I agree with you, it’s just that it doesn’t fit in here.

Oh ok, sorry I was so harsh then. It seemed like you were dismissing the problems as unimportant and I got worked up about it.

I still believe if there are any updates regarding Quantic Dream or the campaign to boycott Eclipse, this thread is the best place to share those, but I don’t have anything more to post about it right now.

This is even more extreme than the Mando s2 trailers! This makes me excited for what they’re keeping under wraps so much, but at the same time, worried because this could turn out to be yet ANOTHER season overcrowded with contrived appearances from beloved characters, a la Mandalorian season 2 or The Bad Batch. Excluding Visions, which is a very separate project anyway, that would be the third in a row.
