I like the picture's Tatooine background, especially the nice blue sky.
I like the picture's Tatooine background, especially the nice blue sky.
So if I got that right, we should avoid posting links to interesting TFN posts, no matter how civil we are about it? By "interesting" I mean the one that contain opinions that contrast general opinions here on OT.

This will surely end in tears. Fett is popular because he is mysterious.
But that's what Kasdan's wants to do. His idea is that at the start of the film someone who Boba Fett is hunting kills him and takes his armour. You never see his face, there by doing away with the whole prequels thing and any knowledge of the character.
It would be a great way to start the film.
That sounds like a bad idea because it is a reference to PT. They should just refrain from making any references to PT so that those of us who ignore PT can continue doing so while watching this film. On the other hand PT lovers can connect the dots on their own. Good for both parties.

It's too bad that the TFN thread got locked because I wanted to post "that Plagueis is alive" in that thread.
We don't want nor need outside forum drama being dragged in here. With the renewed interest in Star Wars, we'll have enough shenanigans as it is.
I think it is quite arrogant to talk with "we" like that. Especially since that stuff did not break the four forum rules.
You want to get into flamewars with other sites? It's a great way to start. Kindly do it without this forum. Things weren't always so tranquil around here in the old days. You've been a member of this site a little over a year. If you want to pick a fight with the mods, be my guest.
No, I don't want to get into any flame wars. I was generally referring to forbidding of posting links to external forum.
If you do it respectfully I don't see why would it be prohibited. KilroyMcFadden thread title was indeed provocative but if he named it "Interesting things from TFN" would it still be labelled as inappropriate? If so I think this should be stated in forum rules somewhere. If I refer to Bingo, no rule should be "confidential".

I was never really a fan of Battlefront series. I got bored of combat-based multiplayer games several years ago. I am only interested in story-based games.
But it would be nice to see if they got rid of PT. If nothing else, to spite the PT lovers.

With George's life long love of fast cars, I'm surprised he's never made a pro racing film.
Well sometimes if you really love something you don't want to mix it with work and potentially "polluting" it.

I think Larry Kasdan really ran with the idea of Vader Force-choking underlings at the drop of a hat, to the point where it became a running joke.
However, this is certainly an improvement over the Leigh Brackett draft of the script, where Vader just nonchalantly dismisses stupid officers with lines like "Leave me, you incompetent idiot."
That was probably one reason why Lucas disliked the script--judging by Splinter he was probably much more on board with Kasdan's take.
It is hard to say whether it was Kasdan or actually Lucas. There was one more Lucas' draft in between Brackett and Kasdan.

TV's Frink, for example, is a known and respected member of the community who has contributed in many ways and is always willing to help out anyone who doesn't take themselves or this place too seriously. In fact, he previously helped out the OP just one day prior to this thread being made.

It might be convenient but at the same time it is natural, crude and very unique. Couldn't be better.
The great Emperor being thrown down the shaft of unfinished death star at the ass-end of galaxy. No usual "epic final battle in the centre of everything" bullshit.
Even the death of Boba Fett is great. It reminds me of Old West gunfighter legend Wild Bill being shot in the back by a drunk while plying cards. Crude, ironic and natural.
Well do not be so naive. It is not about the guy posting something that has already been posted. TV's Frink, for example, is a known troll and "already posted" was just a very convenient platform to exercise his hobby. :)
A normal person just ignores the thread if the topic was already posted.

If he had stuck to his original ideas (what he had of them) for the PT and the ST ROTJ might not have been as crap as it turned out too (if there were three more films to their would be no need to kill off all the OT bad guys in one very silly film for one thing).
I am completely repulsed by the idea of having 4 films addressing the subject that is now being addressed by ROTJ. The Luke-Vader-Emperor story had to be concluded in the third film of the trilogy. Otherwise we would get four more boring films instead of a great film as ROTJ is.
New trilogy, new subject. That is how it should be and that is how it ended up.

If those are current pics of Hamill, he's looking great. Perfect for a return to the galaxy far far away.
I agree.

He came up with the outline for VII-IX and then handed everything over to Kennedy.
And even then, I thought I remember hearing from a rumor a while back, that Michael Arndt, while he was kicked off the Star Wars 7 script, he did a lot of changes to the story treatment involving the overall sequel trilogy, so that it further differed from Lucas' vision (probably for the better).
It could be the reason he was kicked out and they just reverted back.

J.J. cracks me up. And Mark is looking good! Who's the fellow next to him dressed like George? ;)
Even JJ seems to be dressed like George in the old days (as well as Josh Trank in the SW.com picture). It seems like they are trying to reproduce the OT approach in full. :D
Well I believe many of us are here just to discuss Star Wars. Pretty much the best place to do that.

Shoud we not have separate threads for each Standalone Film?

I believe we can afford them.

I must say that pig creature looks ridiculous.
It's no more silly than a Bantha or a Tauntaun.
Not in my book.
They come from the same sort of mix and match from Earth animals philosophy.
A Bantha is a Buffalaphant a Tauntaun is a Ramgaroo this is a Boaropotamus.
As I said, I wasn't talking about concept but about the look. Bantha and Tauntaun are okay, while the new thing looks ridiculous. As simple as that. No point in trying to change my opinion. :)

Well if those picture are of any indication, it won't be just getting something Obi-Wan left behind. If that's really an AT-AT foot it is going to be something major.
Maybe it's not even Tatooine but some other desert planet.
I don't mind seeing Tatooine again but it would be nice to see some "mentioned-only" planets from OT such as Corellia, Dantooine, Kessel etc.
I don't understand why would anyone be bothered by "imperial academy". An adjective "imperial" added to "academy" doesn't change anything at all. The Empire governed the galaxy and pretty much everything could be called "imperial".
It is the adjective "military" that would actually make the difference you are complaining about.
So if they decide to release theatrical version in HD format, I wonder if they will release 1997 SE as well. I mean there are some of us whose favourite version is 1997 SE.

This was the point I was trying to make, and it got lost as I was rambling...
Now that you mention it, I hate huge posts. People should learn how to make a point in a few sentences. It is hard but it is definitely very useful. You reduce the chances of being ignored and increase the chances of relaying the point. So instead of wasting time writing huge posts it is far better to invest that time trying to make a point in a few sentences.
Personally, if the post is too big I won't read it.
(Btw, this is generally speaking, I am not targeting you.)
