And people who come here for the sole purpose of trying to sell their "collectibles" and getting huffy at Frink's peculiar sense of humor does not qualify as trolling.

This is very disturbing coming from a mod. Whether it was a sole purpose or not should be irrelevant, as it was a completely legitimate purpose. After all, there is a separate section dedicated to trading collectibles. The guy politely made the thread and Frink made a disrespectful and off-topic comment.

So what is then the difference between "peculiar sense of humour" and trolling?

(It must be noted that this was just one of the countless examples.)

There has been a pattern of people only posting about their supposedly rare item that sub forum, and getting upset about the lack of serious responses, and or comments about said items dubious condition.

We're not Ebay or a SW collectibles site. (Most sellers seem to come here because we tend to come up tops in search engines.) I have tried to be helpful, but some people just get upset when nobody is offering to throw money at them.

If you title a topic "curious" and somebody makes a bi-curious joke, overreacting to said joke speaks more about you than the joke maker.

It is really simple. Facts are: the guy did nothing wrong (no matter what you personally think about his trade), and Frink broke at least one forum rule in this particular example (off-topic posting, but in reality he was also disrespectful).

It is really pointless that you specifically defend him in this particular example anyway, because I could just provide another one.

It is funny that some of you, unlike me, have been actually braking the forum rules (sock accounts, direct insults etc.).

I'd love to see some examples.

Here and here.

And as a bonus, I throw in an example of one of your countless trolling manoeuvres in Star Wars Discussion section.

Let's be honest, "light moderation" is a fancy term for "let's ban few specific individuals simply because we don't like them". Like corrupt politicians when they make some fancy sounding laws with a sole purpose to enable them exploit something they desire.

It is funny that some of you, unlike me, have been actually braking the forum rules (sock accounts, direct insults etc.). And the most most hilarious thing is that, of all people, a well-known troll was nominated as a potential moderator. :D

I'll vote for whichever option guarantees me a lovely girlfriend/wife in the near future.

How about you vote for yourself. When you are elected you get off these forums, get out, and get her yourself.

What's this?  You know you're not supposed to say things that are agreeable!!  Demean him, insult him, practical advice can't come from you!! :)

What is all this surprise? I never directly insult people. I just give the raw truth. However, sometimes the truth my be unpleasant and people might be upset when it is relayed to them.

All that happens is that I can not follow many of the conversations in a thread because part of it is blocked.

So basically, if you don't want to interact with someone then no one should be allowed to either just because it is inconvenient to you.

That's what I seem to be getting from this thread. =/

I just think trolls need to be dealt with.

And your definition of a "troll" seem to be "someone who is inconvenient to me".

inconvenient? no  incredibly annoying and insulting a offensive?  yes, someone who is all that doesn't want to be anything else or almost doesn't want to be anything else is my definition of a troll.

Not who is, but someone who you subjectively think he/she is to you.

could solve some of these problems with trolls very quickly.

So who are these trolls and how would you determine them?

For all I know, this this could be a mastermind troll thread for troll textbooks.

I believe, had you chosen to be the actual person you say you are, you would have left Warblers thread alone or put him on ignore so things could quiet down.  You chose neither of those options and you didn't do it by accident.

If you would rise above and do what you are asking others to do instead of getting rid of you I think the issue would not have come as far as it has.  I don't know you personally so I cannot say whether you're the person you say you are or not but from what I know of you here ......  you are not.

Actually, I said I have not (will not) debate the thread's content within the thread itself (as he demanded). And I have not. Referencing his thread in another thread for technical reasons is something completely different. I was trying to point out that in many cases it is impossible to objectively determine what is "trolling" and what is not.

As for ignoring, I clearly stated that ignore is an option for those who do not wish to see post from certain person. I most certainly am not one of those.

Also funny how you have claimed repeatedly that you have not "stooped so low" as to resort to personal insults, and now they are the only thing you say to me.  Can't use that claim to self-righteousness anymore, can you?

I sincerely apologise if that offended you. However it most certainly wasn't a personal insult. It was just my best guess why he put you and Warbler on ignore. I was only trying to help, as you were wondering why.
