TFA is down there with the PT.
TFA is down there with the PT.
So is Rogue One really a loose adaptation of LucasArts’ 1990s SW Dark Forces computer game series starring Kyle Katarn? Well… maybe.
We have Felicity Jones as Rebel spy,
Jan Ors“Jyn Erso”:
And Diego Luna as a scruffy, unsmiling Rebel in a brown jacket:
Not to mention some seriously Dark Trooper armor for Imperial soldiers.
And then there’s Donnie Yen as a blind swordsman, who clearly seems inspired by Jerec from Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II.
So who is Ben Mendelsohn playing, then? It’s likely he’s not Grand Moff Tarkin, given his white uniform. But who else could he be… except maybe
GeneralGrand Admiral Rohm Mohc, architect of the Dark Trooper program?
Imagine a scenario where an offscreen Tarkin and Admiral Mohc are each backing rival projects to project Imperial power across the galaxy: Tarkin proposes bulding the Death Star, while Mohc favors an army of Dark Trooper power-suits with robotic brains. Interservice rivalry has never looked so deadly.
Nice post.
I’ll take '70s-'80s Carrie over Portman any day of the week, thank you very much.
You can have her.
yep. It was my thread, my poll, my decision.
So it is just your private little thing.
My decision is final. The vote stands.
You run a poll fraud anyway. Among many things, you ignored my vote. Not that I care about that.
Only votes from respected forum members counted.
And you will be the judge of that I suppose?
And I’m not religious. So what am I?
You are an American.
That’s not a race.
Jewish is not a race either. Both are ethnicity.

But again, so what? More hair splitting. Ethnically motivated stereotypes are somehow better than racially motivated ones?
The answer to the latest (unrelated) question is no. What I was trying to do here is to answer the original question.
Neither have I, despite the continued forum existence of people like you.
I guess that would be highly intelligent people with good behaviour who don’t break forum rules and who can easily outwit the well-established forum trolls.
If the forum rule-breaking bothers you so much, which it obviously does since you won’t shut up about it, and you won’t complain to a mod because you say they aren’t doing their jobs, and you won’t complain to the site owner because you’re chicken-shit (or something, I can’t remember what bullshit reason you had for that)…why don’t you do the highly intelligent thing and stop coming here?
Who said forum rule breaking bothers me? I just take pleasure in pointing out the double standards when I see them. However, I am not really intetested in pursuing the double standards being sanctioned. Still, considering my decent character, I would not decline to help if I was asked to.
And I’m not religious. So what am I?

Jewish is not a race either. Both are ethnicity. The only difference is that American is way younger of course.
From here you will have to make a judgement youself. Simply think about your daily life (language, culture, social life, etc.). I bet you would have way more in common with American.

People just need to start using ignore user option.
Not currently a forum-supported option.
I see. I did not even notice it as I have not used ignore in my entire internet history.
As I already pointed out in that thread, light moderation is already present. People just need to start using ignore user option.

You might have missed my post on page seven where I outlined my views as somebody who lived in Japan for a decade, but what type of work environment did/do you work in? To me it’s the infections more than the actual pronounciation, but it’s also coupled with the bureacratic nature of those guys which makes me think of Japan. I’m just interested in seeing if you note any similarities since most people don’t quite understand just how dang bureaucratic Japan is. If you don’t, no worries.
And I agree about the “Asian” stereotype being way too broad. A lot of people keep saying how the trade federation portrays the “timid asian stereotype.” Generally speaking, Chinese and South Koreans are anything BUT timid. I’d also say Japanese aren’t timid outside of the workplace.
Well I am in science/research. While Japanese bureaucracy is very strict and sometimes annoying, on the other hand it makes everything run smoothly and make people follow the rules I guess. I could set my clock based on the bus stop (let alone train). Also streets are completely clean, despite literally no trash cans, as people follow the rules and take their thrash home. I would say the annoying part is by far overshadowed by all the benefits and nice aspects. Anyway bottom line is, I absolutely love almost everything about Japan.
As for Nemodians, they don’t seem much of bureaucrats to me. After all, their main thing in TPM is breaking the rules.
Of all the lame excuses people are making for the bad stereotypes in TPM (and holy shit they’re all in a single movie!), my favorite by far is “you’re racist if you think these are racist stereotypes.”
I hope that was not directed at me because I did not say that at all.

Have you read the first part of my post? You are being ignorant racist again. Japanese and Chinese is completely different and their English accents are naturally different.
People around here should learn some geography and get some basic knowlege. Asia is huge and contains many languages of completely different roots. In addition, appearence of people differ massively. By saying Asian and thinking specifically about Japanese eyes and accent, basically makes you an ignorant racist. At that point you basically lose all credibility to accuse a film of being racist.
As for Nomodians resembling Japanese, I have been living/working in Japan and I speak Japanese and I have never seen any resemblence.
I would say PT is as much racist as OT (bad guys having European/British accent while good guys American). Neither really is in my opinion by the way. But no one ever sees it as racism if it happens to Europeans…

Are you implying that all of the millions upon millions of Star Wars fans read the books and comics?
I am not implying anything. I am just saying that one cannot simply throw around claims that one have no data to support them, no matter how obvious it might seem. Btw I too would assume most fans are not into EU. I just would not make fact-like claims based on my assumption. Use of “probably” or “I assume” should go with such claims.
the vast majority of Star Wars fans like the movies alone and nothing else.
Sorry but are you making that up?
The majority of casual fans for sure, and there are a ton of those.
Unless you have some record, you are just making it up.
An average film. 6/10
Sounds like an assumption more than a fabrication to me.
Both qualifies as making it up.
Yeah I’ve considered watching it on netflix but am cautious. Are the other versions so significantly better to make this unworthwhile?
I hated the theatrical version, but that may be due to the channel I watched it on than any major inherent problems within the movie itself. They kept cutting to commercials in the very middle of scenes, and I’m almost certain they edited it down for length.
I hate theatrical version because of the crappy ending scene that does not fit into the film atmosphere at all.

Where was the fun part?
There is no need to drag this out.
I was only trying to “have fun”.
Can you read English? He said HE was having fun. He didn’t say others were necessarily supposed to have fun too. Although I did find some of his post quite funny (e.g. holding grudge comparison).
The best version of Blade Runner is Final Cut.
